E-1 Nous ne voulons pas, frères, que vous... dans l'ignorance au sujet de ceux qui dorment, afin que vous ne vous affligiez pas comme les autres qui n'ont pas d'espérance.
Car, si nous croyons que Jésus est mort et qu'il est ressuscité, croyons aussi... que Dieu ramènera par Jésus et avec lui ceux qui sont morts.
Voici, en effet, ce que nous vous déclarons d'après la parole du Seigneur: nous les vivants, restés pour l'avènement du Seigneur, nous ne devancerons pas ceux qui sont morts.
Car le Seigneur lui-même, à un signal donné, à la voix d'un archange, et au son de la trompette de Dieu, descendra du ciel, et les morts en Christ ressusciteront premièrement.
Ensuite, nous les vivants, qui seront restés, nous serons tous ensemble enlevés... sur des nuées, à la rencontre du Seigneur dans les airs,... ainsi nous serons toujours avec le Seigneur.
Consolez-vous donc les uns les autres par ces paroles.
| E-1 ... I would not have you... ignorant, brethren, concerning those which are asleep, that you sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them... that sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

E-2 Je lisais dans I Thessaloniciens chapitre 4. Je vais lire maintenant dans le Livre de Job, le - le chapitre 14 de Job.
L'homme né de la femme! Sa vie est courte, sans cesse agitée.
Il naît, il est coupé comme une fleur; et il fuit et disparaît comme une ombre.
... c'est sur lui que tu as l'oeil ouvert! Et tu me fais aller en justice avec toi!
Comment d'un être souillé sortira-t-il un homme pur? Il n'en peut sortir aucun.
Si ses jours sont fixés, si tu as compté ses mois, si tu en as marqué le terme qu'il ne saurait franchir,
Détourne de lui les regards, et donne-lui du relâche, pour qu'il ait au moins la joie du mercenaire à la fin de sa journée.
Un arbre a de l'espérance: quand on le coupe, il repousse, il produit encore des rejetons;
Quand sa racine a vieilli dans la terre, quand son tronc meurt dans la poussière, il reverdit à l'approche de l'eau, il pousse des branches comme une jeune plante.
Mais l'homme meurt... il perd sa force; l'homme expire, et où est-il?
Les eaux des lacs s'évanouissent, les fleuves tarissent et se dessèchent;
Ainsi l'homme se couche et ne se relèvera plus, il ne se réveillera pas tant que...cieux subsisteront, alors il ne sortira pas de son sommeil.
Oh! si tu voulais me cacher dans le séjour des morts, me fixer un lieu secret jusqu'à ce que ta colère fût passée...me fixer... auquel tu te souviendras de moi!
Si l'homme une fois mort pouvait revivre, j'aurais de l'espoir tout le temps de mes souffrances, jusqu'à ce que mon état vint à changer.
Tu appellerais alors, ... je te répondrais, tu languirais après l'ouvrage de tes mains.
... aujourd'hui tu comptes mes pas, tu as l'oeil sur mes péchés;
Mes transgressions sont scellées en un faisceau,... tu imagines des iniquités à ma charge.
La montagne s'écroule et périt, le rocher disparaît de sa place,
La pierre est broyée par les eaux, et la terre emportée par leur courant; ainsi tu détruis l'espérance de l'homme.
Tu es sans cesse à l'assaillir, et il s'en va; tu le défigures, puis tu le renvoies.
Que ses fils soient honorés, ... n'en sait rien; qu'ils soient dans l'abaissement, ... l'ignore.
C'est pour lui seul qu'il éprouve de la douleur en son corps, c'est pour lui seul qu'il ressent de la tristesse en son âme.

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down,... it will sprout again, and that the tender branches thereof may not cease.
Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof dieth in the ground;
Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
But man dieth,... wasteth away: yea, giveth up the ghost, and where is he?
As the waters fail from the seas, and the floods decay and dry up:
So man lieth down, and he raises not: till... heavens be no more, then shall he not awake, nor be raised out of his sleep.
O that thou would hide me in the grave, that thou would appoint me a secret place, till thy wrath be past,... thou would appoint me a... time, and remember me!
If a man dies, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change comes.
Thou shall call,... I will answer thee: thou will have a desire to do a work of thine hand.
... now thou numberest my steps: does thou not watch over my sins?
My transgressions is sealed up in a bag,... thou sewest up my iniquity.
... surely the mountains fall and cometh to nought,... the rocks move out of their place.

And it's heartless. I'm sure if I had been a death, I don't think I would want to come to a home that this death has come to, this young Christian, that we have his body laying here before us, as we know him, as our Brother Garnett.

I think they had given up hopes that he could live any longer. Well, many of those calls, we have them. They're just a regular routine. But when I went to see this young fellow, was in an iron lung. There was something about him, as I laid my eyes upon him the first time, I loved him. I love him until today, as I look at him now, always will. He was a gallant young fellow. And he seemed like he had something in life that--that meant more than just an ordinary boy, of a teen-ager just passing through. He had more of a clear understanding of things. I prayed for him, that he would not die.

| E-11 Last fall, I was down here visiting friends. One day, last time I seen Garnett in this life, we stepped in unexpectedly into the... his lovely little home. He was staying with his people. And what did we find, but it would a--a real example for any Christian minister to--to see this. He was setting up, and out of the rocking bed, had his arms in a little sling. As we walked to the house, as we was always so welcome, there was Garnett. And before him was the Bible. And the little lady that was taking care of him was setting over on the little duofold affair, and they were having Bible study. And I looked at him, and my heart just melted.

Is this the last we're going to see of Garnett? That's what I want to talk to you about, for the next few minutes. Can you be sure that we're going to see him again? Job asked this question, the oldest Book in the Bible. He said, "If a man dies, shall he live again?" Is there any proof then that this is so? Could we have any physical proof that this resurrection is so? Yes. I would think so.

There is some mastermind behind it, that made that watch, and just think of what a human being is that makes the watch. How impossible it would be for the watch to just to happen, and how much more impossible it is that we just happened!

A Man Who could put His hands on a sinful man and a holy God, and bridge the way, the Son of God. Then when the Spirit was on the prophet, he cried out, "I know my Redeemer liveth, and at the last days He'll stand upon the earth, and though after my skin worms destroys my body, yet in my flesh shall I see God for myself. Mine eyes shall behold, and not another."

| E-27 And, God, the great Creator Who has expressed Hisself through all of His creation. And we are a part of His creation, just as those flowers are, just as the trees are, all other nature. We are a part of His creation.

E-28 Or, Dieu est un Dieu de variété. Tout ce qu'Il a n'est pas identique. Il n'a pas que des montagnes. Il a des déserts, des plaines, des prairies. Il a des fleurs jaunes, blanches, roses, de différentes couleurs. Il a des hommes grands, des courts, des hommes aux cheveux noirs, bruns, roux. Il est un Dieu de variété, car tout accomplit Son dessein. Il a fait en sorte que toutes choses accomplissent Son dessein. Et pour toute chose qui accomplit correctement Son dessein, il y a une résurrection.
| E-28 Now, God is a God of variety. He doesn't have everything just the same. He doesn't have just all mountains. He has desert, plains, grassy fields. And He has yellow flowers, white, blue, pink, different colors. He has large men, small men; and dark-headed, brown-headed, red-headed. Because if it stayed up here, it would kill the tree. It went down to the root of the tree, to hide, until the winter is past. Next spring, it brings back life again, and puts forth another leaf.

And that's what He picked on here, for a bud for His altar in Glory; with a guarantee, of everything testifying that he will rise again. Our faith says he rise again. The Word says he rise again. May you who shared his lesser love, may we all prepare to meet him at that great resurrection.

As long as I live here, I suppose I'll always remember that gallant little soldier rocking on that bed, in the iron lung, between breaths, praising the Lord God. He was an example, too, for me, of his patience, never to complain, just, "The--the will of God be done." Thou has placed him before us, and now Thou has taken him out of our presence.

Si nous ne sommes pas prêts, puissions-nous être prêts, et comme je l'ai dit, ô Père, que nous soyons fécondés pour le rencontrer par le même Saint-Esprit qu'il avait reçu, la Vie qui était en Christ.

| E-103 And we older people, who look down at this young man, right in the prime of life, and see him change, and come from a dying life unto a living Life. Grant it, Lord, that we might see that, this afternoon, by the simplicity of using examples of nature, then placing it back to the Word of God, to a promise. And You said, "The Word of God is a seed." And a seed must bring forth its kind.

E-104 Et je Te prie de bénir et de consoler ces gens. Qu'ils sachent que ce jeune homme était placé ici juste pour servir de sermon. Il a prêché son sermon. Le livre est fermé. Mais nous le reverrons. Accorde, ô Seigneur, que nous soyons tous là dans la beauté de Christ, là où nous aurons la Vie Eternelle. En attendant ce moment, garde-nous toujours au centre de Ta volonté. | E-104 I pray that You'll bless and comfort these people. Let them know that this little boy was just set here for a sermon. He's preached his sermon, the Book is closed, but we shall see him again.
