Mais je... avec mon dernier témoignage auprès de vous, si ce n’est pas le cas, si cela arrive de cette manière, Jésus-Christ est réellement le Fils de Dieu ressuscité des morts. Et ce que j’ai dit à Son sujet, je le crois de tout mon coeur. Et je vous aime d’un amour éternel, d’un amour chrétien le plus chaleureux. Que Dieu soit avec vous.

Que le Seigneur ajoute Ses bénédictions à la lecture de Sa Parole. Eh bien, je crois que ce Livre a été écrit en l’an 66 de notre ère. Et c’était donc 33 ans après la Pentecôte. Et Jude s’adressait à l’église de l’époque, les exhortant à combattre ardemment pour la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes.
Pouvez-vous jamais imaginer qu’un–que l’Eglise du Glorieux Saint-Esprit, qui avait été inaugurée, et immergée en Christ par le Saint-Esprit, pouvait être si embrouillée en si peu de temps que le prophète ici, leur a dit de combattre ardemment pour la foi qui avait été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes.
Maintenant, nous n’allons pas prendre beaucoup de temps. Je dois faire attention ici, parce que nous avons un grand service qui suit. Ce soir, je vais prier pour autant de gens que je pourrai faire passer dans la ligne de prière. Et je vous demanderai de vous tenir prêts en ayant la foi, et en étant dans la prière.
Eh bien, le–le prophète dit ici de combattre ardemment pour la foi, pas «une» foi, mais «la» foi, qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes.
Or, bien des gens disent: «Eh bien je pourrais aller à cette réunion, mais c’est contraire à ma foi.» Il n’existe qu’une seule foi: une seule foi, une seule espérance, un seul Seigneur, un seul baptême. Le croyez-vous? Une seule foi, et cette foi, c’est dans le Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
Et maintenant, certaines personnes disent: «Eh bien, je suis méthodiste. C’est contraire à ma foi.» Je suis catholique, et c’est contraire à ma foi.» Il n’existe qu’une seule foi. Il pourrait y avoir différentes églises dénominationnelles pour représenter cette foi, mais il n’existe qu’une seule foi.
Or, Jude a dit que nous (bien entendu, ici, il s’adressait principalement à la–l’église de ce jour-là)–nous devrions plutôt combattre ardemment pour la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes.

Beloved... I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and to exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints.

Now, I believe that this Book was written in A.D. 66. And it was thirty-three years then after Pentecost. And Jude speaking to the church then was exhorting them that they should earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.
Could you ever think that a--that the great Holy Spirit Church, that had been inaugurated, and immersed into Christ by the Holy Spirit, could be so tangled up in such a short time that the prophet here, was telling him to earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.
Now, we won't take much time. I've got to watch here, because we've got a big service coming on. Pray for as many people, tonight as I possibly can get through the line. And I ask to stand by in faith, prayer.
Now, the--the prophet here says to earnestly contend for the faith, not "a" faith, but "the" faith, that was once delivered unto the saints.
Now, many people say, "Well, I would go down to that meeting, but it's against my faith." There's only one faith: one faith, one hope, one Lord, one baptism. You believe it? One faith, and that faith is in the Lord Jesus Christ.
And now, some people say, "Well, I'm a methodist. That's against my faith."
I'm a Catholic, and that's against my faith." There's only one faith. Might be different denominations of churches to represent that faith, but there's only one faith.
Now, Jude said that we, speaking here primarily of course to the--the church in that day, but we should earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.

E-3 Maintenant, cela ne peut pas s’appliquer à l’Ancien Testament. Cela doit s’appliquer au Nouveau Testament, parce que l’Ancien Testament c’était la loi, et de ce côté-ci, c’est la grâce. Et–et il est dit: «La loi et les prophètes», Luc 16.16, la loi et les prophètes ont subsisté jusqu’à Jean; depuis lors le Royaume des Cieux est prêché. Alors cela devait concerner ce côté-ci, cela devait concerner ce côté-ci où il y a la sanctification, parce que les saints, on parle de l’Eglise comme étant les saints après...
Le mot saint signifie celui qui est sanctifié. En d’autres termes, nous devons combattre pour la foi qui a été transmise une fois pour toutes à ceux qui sont sanctifiés. La sanctification signifie être appelé hors de, mis à part, purifié (Voyez-vous?), purifié et mis à part pour le service.
Or, la foi qui a été transmise à ces gens, c’est la foi pour laquelle nous sommes censés combattre. Savez-vous ce que signifie combattre? C’est débattre, ou s’accrocher à, combattre pour. Combattre ardemment pour cette foi-là.
Maintenant, si je disais: «Vous les frères méthodistes, l’avez-vous?»
Oui, nous avons cette foi-là.
Et vous les frères baptistes?
- Oui.
Et les catholiques disent: «Oui.»
Les pentecôtistes disent: «Oui.»
Tout le monde dira: «Oui, mon église combat pour cette foi-là.»
Eh bien, je suis heureux d’entendre cela. Je serai très heureux de savoir que c’est la vérité.
Maintenant, la seule manière d’être certain, je pourrais dire: «Alors qu’est-ce qui fait que vous êtes différents les uns des autres?»
«Eh bien, donc, nous, nous croyons que c’était comme ceci.»
Eh bien, faisons un recul dans le passé jusqu’au tout début des Ecritures, au ministère du début, et aux jours des saints, et voyons quel genre de goût ils avaient, ensuite, combattons pour ce qu’eux avaient. C’est la seule manière d’être certain. Est-ce vrai?
| E-3 Now, it could not apply to the Old Testament. It had to be to the New Testament, because the Old Testament was the law, and this side is great. And--and it said, "The law and prophets," Luke 16:16, law and prophets were until John: since then the kingdom of heaven's been preached. So it had to be this side, had to be this side with sanctification, 'cause saints, the church is referred to as saints after... The word "saint," means "the sanctified one." In other words, we must contend for the faith that was once delivered to the sanctified ones. "Sanctification" means "to be called out, set apart, cleansed (See?), cleansed and set apart for service."
Now, the faith that was once delivered unto those people, that is the faith that we're supposed to contend. You know what "contend" means? Is "to debate, or to hold to, contend for." Earnestly contend for that faith.
Now, if I said, "Methodist brethren, do you have it?"
"Yep, we got that faith."
"And Baptist brethren?"
"Yep."
And the Catholic says, "Yep."
The Pentecostal says, "Yep."
Everyone would say, "Yes, my church is contending for that faith."
Well, I'm happy to hear that. I'd be very happy to know that that's true.
Now, the only way, I would say, "What makes you different one from another then?"
"Well then, we believe it that it was this a way."
Now, let's just go back in the early parts of the Scripture, the early ministry, and in the days of the saints, and see what kind of a taste that they had, and then let's contend for what they had. That's the only way to be sure. Is that right?

E-4 Maintenant, la première personne à introduire cette foi pour laquelle la Bible nous recommande de combattre, c’était le Seigneur Jésus-Christ lui-même. Jean était le précurseur qui devait annoncer Sa Venue, mais Christ était Cela. Christ Lui-même. C’est Lui qui a apporté la foi en question, parce que sur terre, c’est Christ qui, devant les gens, était la représentation de Dieu dans la nouvelle alliance.
Remarquez, Dieu a envoyé Christ après que les jours de la loi eurent fait... une femme sous la loi afin qu’Il puisse racheter ceux qui étaient sous la loi. Christ était fait chair, étant Dieu Lui-même, Emmanuel, investi, Dieu en Christ, réconciliant le monde avec Lui-même.
Et lorsqu’Il était ici sur terre, Il ne suivait pas Ses propres pensées ni Sa propre volonté, mais Il a sacrifié Sa propre volonté et Ses propres pensées pour suivre la pensée et la volonté de Son Père. «Je ne suis pas venu faire Ma volonté, mais la volonté de Celui qui M’a envoyé.» Comprenez-vous cela?
| E-4 Now, the first one to introduce the faith that the Bible wants us contend for was the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. John was the forerunner to speak of His coming, but Christ was It. Christ Himself, He was the One Who brought the faith, because Christ on earth was God's representation to the peoples on the new deal.
Notice, God sent Christ after the days of the law made... a woman under the law that He might redeem those who were under the law. Christ is made of human flesh, being God Himself, Emmanuel, invested, God in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.
And when He was here on earth, He did not follow His Own thoughts, His Own will, but He sacrificed His Own will and His Own thoughts to follow the mind and the will of His Father. "I come not to do My will, but the will of Him that sent Me." You see it?

E-5 Eh bien, Christ est venu pour faire la volonté du Père. Si donc nous voyons ce que Christ a fait, quel genre de foi Il a donné aux gens, ou prêché aux gens, alors, cela devrait être la foi pour laquelle nous combattons.

Et à l’âge de trente ans, Il est allé dans le désert, et là, Il a rencontré Jean, et Il a été baptisé par Jean dans le Jourdain, pour obéir ou accomplir... Lorsque Jean L’a vu venir, Il a dit: «C’est moi qui dois être baptisé par Toi, pourquoi viens-Tu à moi?»
Il a dit: «Laisse faire. Il doit en être ainsi, et il est convenable que nous accomplissions toute justice.» Et alors, Il a été baptisé par Jean, Il est sorti de l’eau, et voici les cieux s’ouvrirent.
Et Jean a rendu témoignage qu’il a vu l’Esprit de Dieu descendre du Ciel comme une colombe et venir sur Lui. Jean a dit plus loin: «Je ne Le connaissais pas, mais Celui qui m’a dit dans le désert d’aller baptiser avait dit: ‘Celui sur qui tu verras l’Esprit descendre et demeurer, c’est Celui-là qui baptiste du Saint-Esprit et du Feu.»
Jean avait un signe qui indiquerait que c’était le Messie. Lorsqu’il Le vit venir, il a reconnu que c’était le Messie. Eh bien, Il n’était pas habillé différemment des autres hommes. Jésus était juste un homme ordinaire. La Bible dit: «Il n’avait aucune beauté pour attirer nos regards.» Il n’était pas un grand homme de sept pieds [2 m]. Il n’avait aucune beauté pour attirer nos regards.
| E-5 Now, Christ come to do the will of the Father. Then if we can see what Christ did, and what kind of a faith that He gave to the people, or preached to the people, then that should be the faith that we contend for.
Now, when Christ was here on earth we wonder, He was born just an ordinary boy baby, born in a manger. He didn't come to the world with a great lot of--of to do. He just was of humble parents born in a manger, raised up, went, and was brought with His people.
And at the age of thirty-years old He went out into the wilderness, and there met John, and was baptized of John in the Jordan, obeying or fulfilling... When John saw Him coming he said, "I have need to be baptized of Thee, and why comest Thou unto me?"
He said, "Suffer. It's to be so, but thus it behooveth us to fulfill all righteousness." And then He was baptized of John, went straight way out of the water, and low the heavens was open unto Him.
And John bear record, seeing the Spirit of God like a dove descending from heaven and lighting upon Him. John said farther, "I knew Him not, but He that said to me in the wilderness to go baptize, said, 'Upon whom thou shall see the Spirit descending and remaining on, He's the One that'll baptize with the Holy Ghost and fire.'"
John had a sign that that was the Messiah. When he seen Him coming he knew that It was the Messiah. Now, He was not dressed any different from any other man. Jesus is just an ordinary man. The Bible said, "There was no beauty we should desire Him." He wasn't so, such a great seven foot man. There's no beauty we should desire Him.

E-6 Je suppose qu’Il n’avait pas une grande instruction de ce monde, car nous n’avons aucun récit qui montre qu’Il ait fréquenté l’école, il n’y a aucun passage des Ecritures ni un récit dans l’histoire qui indique qu’Il a fréquenté une école. Mais Il avait une instruction, bien sûr. Mais nous ignorons où Il l’avait reçue. Et maintenant, nous avons un passage qui montre que Paul–Paul avait fréquenté l’école, ainsi que les autres, mais nous n’avons aucun passage attestant que Jésus a fréquenté l’école.
Il était juste un homme ordinaire, Il utilisait un langage ordinaire, le langage que vous utilisez dans la rue avec n’importe qui, celui que les gens ordinaires comprenaient.
Et ainsi donc, Son aspect et tout n’avait rien de remarquable qui vous aurait fait penser qu’Il était ce qu’Il était. Ce qu’Il était ne reposait pas sur Son apparence extérieure. Car, Son apparence extérieure était celle d’un homme, mais à l’intérieur Il était Dieu, Emmanuel. Dieu le Père était en Lui, réconciliant le monde avec Lui-même. Alors là, Il a amené la foi chrétienne.
Maintenant, observons-Le. Qu’est-ce qui Le rendait différent? Comme orateur, je pense qu’Il n’était pas si énergique pour sortir là dans la rue comme nous le faisons, et crier, parce que la Bible dit: «Sa Voix ne se fera point entendre dans les rues. Et un roseau cassé et une mèche qui fume...» et ainsi de suite comme le prophète avait dit que ça serait.
| E-6 I suppose He had not much of this world's education, for we have no record of Him ever going to school, no record in the Scripture, or the history that He ever went to school. But He had an education, of course. But where He got it, we don't know. And now, we have Paul--Paul's record of where he went to school, and others, but we have no record where Jesus went to school.
He was just an ordinary man, talked an ordinary language, the language that you use at the street where everybody, the common people would hear.
And so then, there was nothing outstanding about His looks and so forth that you could make Him what He was. What He was is not by outward appearance. For He was a man outward, but inward He was God, Emmanuel. Father God was in Him, reconciling the world to Himself. So there He brought the Christian faith.
Now, we'll notice Him. What made Him different? As a speaker I guess He wasn't so forceful and get out in the street and like we do, and scream, because the Bible said, "His voice was not heard in the street. And a bruised reed and a smoking flax," and so forth as the prophet said it would be.

E-8 Combien j’aime souvent entendre de grands ministres parler, et j’aime les entendre. Mais je me suis souvent demandé comment on Le trouvait, lorsqu’Il se tenait là ce jour-là, lorsque Jésus a tendu les bras et a dit: «Venez à Moi, vous tous qui êtes fatigués et chargés, Je vous donnerai le repos.» Oh! j’aurais aimé entendre cela.
| E-8 How I've often liked to hear great ministers to speak, and I love to hear them. But I've often wondered how He was felt standing there that day when Jesus stretched forth His arms and said, "Come unto Me, all ye that labor and heavy laden, I'll give you rest." Oh, I'd loved to have heard that.

Réjouissez-vous et soyez dans l’allégresse, parce que votre récompense sera grande dans les Cieux; car c’est ainsi qu’on a persécuté les prophètes qui ont été avant vous.» Voyez-vous?
Oh! j’aurais aimé L’entendre prêcher cela. Frère Bosworth a dit que je pourrais peut-être ne jamais entendre cela, mais j’ai certainement l’espoir d’entendre ceci: «C’est bien, Mon bon et fidèle serviteur.» Si je peux seulement entendre cela, c’est tout... Cela me suffira, c’est juste.
Remarquez, lorsqu’Il était ici sur terre, Pierre a dit dans Actes, chapitre 2, après qu’il avait reçu le baptême du Saint-Esprit, il a dit: «Hommes Israélites, Jésus de Nazareth, cet Homme à qui Dieu a rendu témoignage devant vous...» De quelle manière? Par Sa théologie? Non. Par Sa grande position dans l’église? Non. Par Son diplôme? Non. Par Sa grande éloquence? Non. «Hommes Israélites, Jésus de Nazareth, cet Homme à qui Dieu a rendu témoignage devant vous par les miracles, et les prodiges que Dieu a accomplis par Lui au milieu de vous tous et dont vous êtes tous témoins...»
| E-9 I'd liked to have heard Him when He was setting on the rock, perhaps, on the--on the mount there where He gave His sermon on the mount, and listen at Him. Said, "Blessed are the pure in heart; they shall see God. Blessed are you when men shall persecute you, and make all manner of fun of you, falsely for My Names sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven. For so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." See?
Oh, I'd have loved to have heard Him preach that. Brother Bosworth said I probably could never hear that, but I do have the hopes of hearing this: "Well, done, my good and faithful servant." If I could only hear that that's all... That'll satisfy me, right.
Notice, when He was here on earth, Peter said in Acts the 2nd chapter, after he had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit; he said "You men of Israel, this Jesus of Nazareth, a Man approved of God among you." By what? By His theology? Nope. By His great standing in the church? No. By His degree? No. By His excellency of speech? No. "Ye men of Israel, Jesus of Nazareth, a Man approved of God among you by signs and wonders that God did by Him in the midst of you all which you all are a witness."

E-10 Oh! la la! c’était un langage direct, n’est-ce pas? Il a dit: «Vous, de vos mains méchantes vous avez crucifié le Prince de la Vie, mais Dieu L’a ressuscité.» Amen. J’aime cela. Il a dit: «Vous L’avez crucifié, mais il n’était pas possible qu’Il soit retenu par la mort. Donc la mort a dû Le libérer, et Il est ressuscité d’entre les morts. Et nous sommes Ses témoins. (Amen.) Voilà pourquoi ces choses sont accomplies, par exemple, l’infirme qui se tenait à la porte a été guéri.» Il a dit: «C’est par la foi dans le Nom de Jésus-Christ que cet homme a été guéri.» Voyez-vous? «Le Prince de la Vie que vous avez crucifié, a-t-il dit, Dieu l’a confirmé.»
Il n’avait aucun... Il n’était pas un homme aux allures princières. Il n’avait aucune de ces choses auxquelles le monde regarde. «Mais Dieu était avec Lui, parce qu’Il a confirmé qu’Il était avec Lui devant vous tous, par des miracles et prodiges qu’Il a accomplis au milieu de vous tous.»
C’est ce que les apôtres pensaient au sujet de la foi chrétienne. Ce que pensait le grand monde ecclésiastique, les pharisiens et les sadducéens, le grand Sanhédrin, qui comptait environ deux millions de personnes. Ils ont envoyé un représentant un soir, Nicodème. Il est venu de nuit. Certains parmi vous se moquent de lui parce qu’il était venu de nuit. Il était finalement arrivé. Et vous? Avez-vous fait autant que Nicodème? Il était finalement arrivé là. Il s’est rendu auprès de Jésus.
Très bien. Et lorsqu’il est allé, considérez-le maintenant, un érudit, un érudit qui va voir un Homme qui n’avait aucun diplôme. C’était un aristocrate qui se rendait auprès d’un pauvre pour recevoir la connaissance. Voici qu’un homme qui avait de grands diplômes se rendait auprès d’un Homme qui n’avait aucun diplôme. Voilà qu’un vieux sage et un docteur allait vers un jeune homme pour apprendre au sujet de la Vie Eternelle. Voyez-vous la différence?

Said, "You crucified Him, but it's not possible that He should be a holder of death. So death had to turn Him loose, and He has raised from the dead. And we are His witnesses. (Amen.) That's why these things are done, for instance, the impotent man at the gate healed." Said, "By faith in the Name of Jesus Christ this man's made whole." See? "The Prince of Life Who you crucify," Said, "God's vindicated Him."
He didn't have no... He wasn't a great princely looking man. He wasn't none of these things that the world looks at. "But God was with Him, because He proved that He was with Him before all of you, by signs and wonders which He did in the midst of you all."
That's what the apostles thought about the Christian faith. What did the great ecclesiastical realm, the Pharisees and Sadducees, the great Sanhedrin court, amounting to around two million people. They sent a representative over one night, Nicodemus. He came by night. Some of you laugh at him by coming by night. He finally arrived. Did you? Have you done as much as Nicodemus? He finally got there. He got to Jesus.
All right. And when he come, look at him now, a scholar, a scholar coming to a Man Who had no diploma. It was a aristocrat coming to a pauper for knowledge. Here was a man of great degrees coming to a Man that had no degrees. Here it was an old sage and teacher coming to a young Fellow to learn about Everlasting Life. You see the difference?

E-11 Eh bien, il a parcouru les ruelles la nuit pour y parvenir à cause de son église et des autres. Mais Nicodème (Ecoutez-le.), il a exprimé l’opinion de l’église, du Sanhédrin, du temple, des pharisiens, et des sadducéens, et du Sanhédrin et de tous les autres. Il a dit: «Nous savons... Rabbi (ou Maître), nous savons que Tu es un Docteur venu de Dieu.» «Nous», nous qui? «Nous les Juifs, nous de la–de la cour. Nous de la synagogue, qui T’avons persécuté, qui Te ridiculisons, qui nous moquons de Toi; cependant, nous savons que Tu es un Docteur venu de Dieu.» Pourquoi?
«Parce que Tu es un homme éloquent, un grand orateur, Tu as une voix mélodieuse?»
«Non.»
«Comment le savez-vous alors?»
«Nous savons que Tu es un Docteur venu de Dieu, car aucun homme ne peut faire ces choses que Tu fais, ces miracles que Tu fais, à moins que Dieu soit avec lui.» Ils reconnaissaient que c’était Lui, mais à cause des préjugés, de l’égoïsme, ils n’étaient pas prêts à se renier, à renoncer à leur vieil entourage pour L’accepter. Cependant, ils reconnaissaient que cela venait de Dieu.
| E-11 Now, he came along through the alleys at nighttime making his way up because of his church and so forth, but Nicodemus (Listen at him.), He voiced for the church, the Sanhedrin court, for the temple, for the Pharisees, and the Sadducees, and Sanhedrins and so forth. He said, "We know... Rabbi, or Master, we know that Thou art a Teacher come from God." "We," who's we? "We Jews, we of the--of the courts. We of the synagogues who's persecuted You, making fun of You, laughing at You, but we know that You're a Teacher comes from God." Why?
"Because that You're an eloquent man, and great speech, melodious voice?"
"No."
"How do you know then?"
"We know that Thou art a Teacher come from God, for no man can do the things that You do, the miracles that You do, except God be with Him." They knew that that was Him, but for prejudice, selfishness, not ready to have self-denial to renounce your old surrounding and accept Him. Yet they recognized that it was of God.

E-12 Cette ville, du fait que les gens lisent les journaux et viennent aux réunions, n’a aucune excuse. Ils savent que Dieu est ici, en train d’agir et d’accomplir des miracles. Les gens qui se moquent de la guérison divine, qui se moquent de l’Eglise du Dieu vivant, disant que ce sont des gens bornés, n’ont aucune excuse. Ils savent au fond de leurs coeurs que c’est la vérité. Ils doivent... Ils ont peur de confesser cela, ils ont peur de perdre de leur prestige social. J’aimerais plutôt perdre tout mon prestige social et gagner le Ciel, pas vous? Sincèrement, je n’ai aucun prestige social à perdre.
Mais Christ m’a reçu, et maintenant je suis–je suis un enfant. Considérez ce qu’Il était pour nous. Malgré Sa richesse Il est devenu pauvre, afin que par Sa pauvreté nous devenions riches. Malgré Son immortalité Il s’est fait chair afin d’ôter notre maladie, afin que par Sa maladie nous puissions avoir la bonne santé. Et Il est devenu tous mes péchés, Lui qui était sans péché, Il a pris mes péchés, afin que je sois sans péché. Il est devenu moi afin que je devienne Lui au Ciel.
Il se tient là comme mon Représentant et le vôtre. Alors Dieu ne regarde pas à nous; Il regarde à notre Représentant. Oh! n’est-ce pas merveilleux, Christ qui prend notre place, qui nous représente devant le Père?
Avez-vous déjà été dans un tribunal? Le Représentant, Il se tient là comme notre avocat, Il se tient là pour plaider. Qui sait faire mieux que Lui, alors qu’Il est le Fils même du Père, se tenant dans la Présence de Dieu pour plaider notre cas, à nous pécheurs. Et si nous confessons...
Du riche qu’Il était, Il est cependant devenu pauvre, afin que par Sa pauvreté, nous puissions devenir riches. Riches en quoi? En argent? Non. Riches en bénédictions célestes, des choses spirituelles. Nous, qui autrefois étions pauvres, sommes devenus maintenant riches par Sa pauvreté.
| E-12 This city, reading newspapers, coming into the meeting is without excuse. They know that God's down here moving and performing miracles. The people who laugh at Divine healing, laugh at the Church of the living God, in saying that they're narrow minded. They're without excuse. They know down in their hearts that that's the truth. They'd have to... Afraid to admit it, afraid they'll lose some of their social prestige. I'd rather lose all my social prestige and gain heaven, wouldn't you? Frankly, I had no social prestige to lose.
But Christ taken me in, and now I'm--I'm a child. Look what He was for us. He in His riches became poor, that in His poverty we might become rich. In His immortality He became flesh that He might take our sickness, that in His sickness we might have health. And all of my sins He became; He was sinless, and taking my sins, that I might be sinless. He became me that I might become Him in heaven.
He stands as mine and your Representative. Then God don't look to us; He looks to our Representative. Oh, isn't that marvelous, Christ standing in our stead, representing us before the Father?
You ever in a court trial? The Representative, He stands as our Attorney, standing to plead. Who knows to do any better than He does, when He's the very Son of the Father, standing in the Presence of God to plead we sinners' case. And if we'll confess...
Being rich, yet, was become poor, that through His poverty we might be made rich. Rich in what? Money? No. Rich in heavenly blessings, spiritual things. We, who were once poor now become rich through His poverty.

E-13 Considérez-Le. Il s’est dépouillé? Il s’est humilié, Il est descendu, le Grand Dieu du Ciel... Vous... Il est descendu dans Son humiliation et s’est abaissé, s’est humilié dans un corps de chair pour marcher parmi les hommes, pour entendre les malédictions et les jurons des hommes, pour sentir la douleur de la maladie et de la mort sur Lui, pour que par tout cela, pas parce qu’Il était obligé, mais parce que l’amour L’y avait contraint... Car Il a fait tout cela et était tombé malade et a eu des ennuis... Vous direz: «Etait-Il tombé malade?» Certainement. N’a-t-Il pas connu la même chose personnellement, selon Ses propres–Ses propres propos, Il a dit: «Les gens ne Me diront-ils pas: ‘Médecin, guéris-Toi Toi-même?» Bien sûr, Il a porté nos maladies, nos chagrins, nos péchés, nos peines. Voyez-vous ce qu’Il était?
Eh bien, c’est Celui dont les apôtres ont parlé; Celui dont Nicodème a parlé. Voyons ce qu’Il était. Quelle sorte de représentation de la foi chrétienne était-Il.
| E-13 Notice Him. Stripped Hisself, humiliated Himself, come down the great Divine One from above... You... In humiliation come down and brought Hisself down, humbled Himself in a body of flesh to walk among men, hear the cursing and swearing of men, feel the pains of sickness and of death upon Himself that through all that, not because He had to, but because love drove Him to it... That He had done all that and was sick and had troubles...
You say, "Was He sick?" Certainly. Didn't He make the own thing Himself, His own--His own statement, and He said, "Won't they say to Me, 'Physician, heal Yourself?'" Sure, He bore our sicknesses, our grief, our sins, our sorrows. See what He was?
Now, that's Who the apostles talked about; that's Who Nicodemus talked about. Let's see what He was. What kind of representative did He meant of the Christian faith?

E-14 Lorsqu’Il était ici sur terre, Il ne s’était donné aucun titre. La Bible dit qu’Il ne l’a pas fait. Il ne s’était pas forgé une réputation. Bien des fois, je me suis dit ceci: l’homme qui a fabriqué le dentier s’est forgé une réputation avec cela. Mais l’Homme qui a créé les vraies dents ne s’est forgé aucune réputation. L’homme qui a fabriqué la jambe artificielle s’est forgé une réputation, mais Celui qui a créé la vraie jambe ne s’est forgé aucune réputation. Voyez?
Il s’est simplement dépouillé et est descendu afin de vous sauver vous et moi, de nous guérir vous et moi. Le Grand Médecin, le Dieu du Ciel, L’Immortel, Il s’est revêtu de chair afin d’ancrer la maladie dans Son propre Corps, pour ôter notre maladie. On ignore toujours cela. Il n’y a pas de mot pour exprimer ce que cela signifie réellement, ce que Dieu a fait pour nous en Jésus-Christ.
Lorsqu’Il était ici sur terre, Il ne se vantait pas. Il était venu sans rien connaître, excepté ce que le Père voulait qu’Il fasse. On Lui a proposé de grandes choses. Même Satan Lui a dit: «Je Te donnerai tous les royaumes du monde, je T’en ferai le maître, si Tu te prosternes et m’adores.»
Il a dit: «Arrière de Moi, Satan. Il est écrit: ‘Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu Le serviras Lui seul.» Certainement. Il aurait pu avoir tous les royaumes du monde. Il les aura de toute façon. Il en deviendra Héritier. Il est l’Héritier de toutes choses. Et nous sommes héritiers avec Lui, et cohéritiers dans le Royaume. «Heureux ceux qui ont le coeur pur, car ils verront Dieu. Heureux les débonnaires, car ils hériteront la terre.» Voilà Son sermon. Eh bien, Il nous donne Sa promesse. C’était Lui.
| E-14 When He was here upon the earth, He'd taken no name upon Himself. The Bible said that He didn't. He made of Himself no reputation. Many times I've thought this: the man that made the false plate for teeth, made a reputation in them. But the Man Who made the real teeth made of Himself no reputation. The man that made an artificial leg made a reputation for himself, but the Man Who made the real leg made of Himself no reputation. See?
He just stripped Himself and come down to save you and me, to heal you and me. The great Physician, the God of heaven, the immortal One, clothed Himself in flesh in order to anchor sickness in His own Body to take our sickness away. It's just never be known. Words can't express what that really is, what God did for us in Christ Jesus.
When He was here on earth He didn't brag about Himself. He come knowing nothing, but what the Father's will was to do. He was offered great things. Even Satan told him, "I'll give You every kingdom of the world, and make You make You master over them, if You'll fall down and worship me."
He said, "Get the hence, Satan. It's written that, 'Thou shall worship the Lord thy God and Him only shall you serve.'" Certainly.
He could've had all the kingdoms of the world. He will have them anyhow. He falls heir to them. He's heir of all things. And we are heir with Him, and joint heirs in the Kingdom.
"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." That's His sermon. Why, He give us, His promises. That was Him.

E-15 Maintenant, observez-Le. Alors qu’Il était ici sur terre, nous voyons certaines de Ses oeuvres. Voyons maintenant ce qu’Il représentait dans la foi chrétienne. Tenez. Le voici. Et Il s’est avancé pour laver les pieds de Pierre. Celui-ci a dit: «Jamais Tu ne me laveras les pieds.» Oh! la la! nous en avons tant aujourd’hui.
«Jamais Tu ne me laveras les pieds.»
Jésus l’a regardé, Il a dit: «Eh bien, si Je ne te lave pas les pieds, tu n’as point de part avec Moi.»
Pierre a dit: «Dans ce cas, Seigneur, non seulement les pieds, mais encore les mains et la tête.» Cela l’avait en quelque sorte dépouillé de sa raideur. N’est-ce pas?
| E-15 Now, notice Him. As He is here on earth we see some of His work. Let's see what He meant in Christian faith now. Here He is here. The stream of all Christianity, the Head, the Beginning, the Origin of the Christian faith was Jesus Christ, God's Son, the beginning of Christian faith, the starting point for all mankind of all ages to look to that starting place and begin from there. He was an example to us. Is that right?
On 13th chapter Saint John when feetwashing is brought along, and He said... Watch a Peter, self-starched this Peter--Peter was, protested...?... stood there as a stiff collar. And He walked up to wash Peter's feet. He said, "You're never washing my feet." Oh, my. We have so many of those today.
"You're never washing my feet."
Jesus looked at him, said, "Well, if I don't wash you, you got no part with Me."
Peter said, "Then Lord not my feet only, but my hands and head." Kind of unstarched him, didn't it?

E-16 Oh! je peux L’imaginer prononcer ces gentilles paroles, en regardant Pierre et dire: «Maintenant, maintenant... Si Je–si Je ne peux pas te laver les pieds, tu n’as point de part avec Moi. Si tu ne peux pas observer Mes commandements, si tu ne peux pas accomplir la volonté du Père... Pierre, Je t’aime. Mais tu dois accomplir ces choses.» Cela fait partie de la foi chrétienne.
Alors, après qu’Il eut fini de laver les pieds des disciples, Il s’est assis, et a dit: «Maintenant, vous m’appelez Seigneur et Maître; et vous dites bien, car Je Le suis. Si donc Je vous ai lavé les pieds, Moi, votre Seigneur et votre Maître, vous devez vous laver les pieds les uns aux autres; car... (Ecoutez cela.)–car Je vous ai donné un exemple, afin que vous fassiez les uns aux autres comme Je vous ai fait.» Il était l’Exemple du christianisme. Il était le christianisme. Il était notre modèle.
N’essayez jamais de prendre comme modèle pour votre vie un certain prédicateur, un certain prêtre, un certain grand religieux ici sur terre, mais, prenez Christ comme modèle pour votre vie. Il est votre exemple. Il a donné un exemple. Il a mené une vie exemplaire qu’Il a présentée à l’Eglise. Oh! j’espère que ceci pénètre profondément.
Pourquoi les gens ne veulent-ils pas écouter l’Evangile? Voyez-vous? Remarquez, que cela pénètre profondément.
| E-16 Oh, I'd imagine those kind words looking around at Peter and saying, "Now, now... If I--if I can't wash you you got no part with Me. If you can't follow My commandments, if you can't do the will of the Father... Peter, I love you. But you've got to do these things." That's part of the Christian faith.
There as He got through washing the disciples' feet, set down, and said, "Now, you call Me Lord and Master. And you say, well, for so I am. If I then You're Lord and Master have washed Your feet, you ought to wash one another's. For... (Listen at it.) For I have given you an example, that you should do to each other as I have done unto you." He was the Example of Christianity. He was Christianity. He was our Pattern.
Don't never try to pattern your life after some preacher, after some priest, after some great religious man here on earth, but pattern your life after Christ. He is your Example. He set an example. He lived an example and presented it to the Church. Oh, I hope that soaks so deep.
Why is it that people don't want to hear the Gospel? See? Notice, soak down deep.

E-17 Il a dit qu’Il était l’exemple. Maintenant, nous Le voyons, observez quel exemple Il a donné. Il s’est avancé là et a dit: «Je ne peux rien faire de Moi-même.» Et ensuite, un homme est venu auprès de Lui, quelque peu indifférent, Il a parcouru l’assistance du regard, et Jésus qui se tenait là s’est tourné vers cet homme; Il a dit: «Tu es un Israélite, dans lequel il n’y a point de fraude.»
Lorsque Philippe était allé trouver Nathanaël là sous cet arbre où il était en train de prier au sujet du Messie, il a dit: «Viens ici. J’aimerais te montrer que nous avons trouvé Jésus de Nazareth, le Fils de Joseph.»
Et cet homme guindé, a dit: «Eh bien, peut-il venir de Nazareth quelque chose de bon?»
Il a dit: «Viens et vois.» Voilà la meilleure manière pour découvrir la chose. Allez vous rendre compte. Il a dit: «Viens et vois.»
Eh bien, il s’est rendu là, vous savez, un homme aimable, un homme de bonne moralité, il n’y avait pas plus honnête que lui, et il s’est avancé devant Jésus, il se tenait là dans la foule, et Jésus regardait autour de Lui. Je m’imagine lorsqu’il a entendu Jésus, ou lorsqu’il a entendu Jésus, ou qu’il L’a vu prier pour quelques malades ou quelque chose, son coeur a commencé à fondre un petit peu.
Vous savez, je peux presque l’entendre glisser un mot à Philippe. Il dit: «Philippe, cet Homme-là est un peu différent des prédicateurs ordinaires que nous connaissons.»’ Oh! la la! est-Il différent? Il a dit: «Il est un peu différent. J’aime plutôt Sa façon de parler.»
J’entends Nathanaël dire: «Eh bien, je–je–je me disais que tu changerais d’avis lorsque tu Le verrais et une fois que tu L’aurais entendu. Tu étais simplement en train d’exprimer ton opinion, là-bas, lorsque tu as dit... peut-il venir de Nazareth quelque chose de bon?»
| E-17 He said He was the Example. Now, we see Him; watch what an example He set. He walked out saying, "I have nothing that I can do in Myself." And then one came to Him, kind of a little indifferent, looked around over the audience, and Jesus standing there looked around at him; He said, "Thou art an Israelite in whom there is no guile."
When Philip went and found Nathanael, out under that tree praying for him, said, "Come over here. I want to show you we found Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Joseph."
And this self-starched man, he said, "Why, could there be any good thing come out of Nazareth?"
Said, "Come, see." That's the best way to find out. Go, find out. Said, "Come and see."
Well, he come over there, you know, a nice man, good moral man, honest as the days is long, and he walked up there before Jesus, standing out there in the crowd, and Jesus looking around. I'd imagine when he heard Jesus, or saw Him pray for some of the sick or something, his heart begin to kind of melt down a little.
You know I can hear him almost say a word to Philip. Say, "Philip, that Fellow's a little different from the ordinary preacher that we see." Oh, my, is He different? He said, "He's just a little different. I kinda like the way He talks."
I hear Nathanael say, "Well, I--I--I thought you'd change your mind when you seen Him and got to hear Him once. You were just passing your opinion, back down there, said, 'There couldn't be anything good come from Nazareth.'"

E-18 Presqu’à ce moment-là Jésus a tourné Son admirable visage, Ses grands yeux doux ont regardé par là, Il a dit: «Voici un Israélite, dans lequel il n’y a point de fraude.» Cela l’a secoué.
Il a dit: «Moi?»
Il a ajouté: «Comment m’as-Tu connu, Révérend ou Rabbi?»
Jésus a dit: «Avant que Philippe t’appelât, lorsque tu étais sous l’arbre, Je t’ai vu.» Voilà l’exemple du christianisme. C’est juste.
Il a rencontré une femme au puits, et Il avait envoyé Ses disciples au loin. Ils étaient allés dans la ville pour acheter de la nourriture, quelques victuailles; et pendant qu’ils étaient absents, Jésus savait que cette femme allait venir, parce qu’Il a dit: «Je ne fais rien à moins que le Père Me l’ait montré.»...
De Jérusalem Il est censé aller directement à Jéricho, mais Il est passé par la Samarie. Je me demande pourquoi. Il fallait qu’Il passât par la Samarie. Je me demande pourquoi. Arrivé là, Il s’est assis à côté du puits. Et la femme est sortie pour puiser de l’eau. Et Il a dit: «Apporte-Moi à boire.»
Elle a dit: «Eh bien, il n’est pas de coutume que les Juifs demandent pareille chose aux Samaritains.»
Il a dit: «Mais si tu connaissais à qui tu parles, tu M’aurais toi-même demandé à boire, et Je t’aurais donné une eau que tu ne viens pas puiser ici.»
«Eh bien, a-t-elle dit, le puits est profond», et ainsi de suite.
Il a dit: «Va chercher ton mari.» Il est allé droit au but. «Va chercher ton mari. C’est cela ton problème.»
Elle a dit: «Je n’ai pas de mari.»
«C’est vrai. Tu en as eu cinq.»
«Eh bien, a-t-elle dit, Seigneur, je vois que Tu es Prophète.» Elle a dit: «Je sais que lorsque le Messie viendra, Il fera ces choses. Mais Toi, qui es-Tu?»
Il a dit: «Je Le suis, Moi qui te parle.» Amen.
| E-18 About that time Jesus turning His lovely head, His great soft eyes looking over there, He said, "Behold, an Israelite in whom there is no guile." That shook him.
Said, "Me?"
Said, "How'd you know Me, Reverend or Rabbi?"
He said, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the tree I saw you." There's the example of Christianity. That's right.
He met a woman at the well and sent the disciples away. Went into the city to buy some food, some vittles, and while they were away Jesus knowing that the woman would come, because He said, "He did nothing accept the Father showed Him."...
From Jerusalem He goes straight out of Jericho, but He went up the way of Samaria. Wonder why. He had need to go by Samaria. I wonder why.
Got up there, set on the well, and the woman come out to draw the water. And He said, "Bring Me a drink."
She said, "Why, it's not customary for Jew's to ask Samaritans such."
Said, "But if you knew Who you were speaking to you'd ask Me for a drink, and I'd give you waters that you didn't come here to draw."
"Why," she said, "the well is deep," and so forth.
He said, "Go, get your husband," right straight to the point. "Go, get your husband. That's what your trouble is."
She said, "I haven't got any husband."
"That's right. You got five."
"Why," she said, "I perceive that You're a prophet, Sir." She said, "I know when Messiah cometh He can do these things, but Who are You."
He said, "I am He that speaks with you." Amen.

E-19 Voilà le signe du christianisme. Voilà la foi qu’eux avaient. Voilà l’exemple.
Eh bien, elle est entrée dans la ville en courant. Jésus est entré, Il n’a accompli aucun miracle ni aucun signe. Il a simplement parlé aux gens. Ils ont dit: «Nous Te croyons. Nous Te croyons. Ce n’est pas parce que la femme a dit que Tu connaissais le secret de sa vie, mais–mais parce que nous T’avons entendu parler, nous Te croyons. Voilà pourquoi nous...» Observez ce qui est arrivé un peu plus tard à cette ville.
Jésus a continué son chemin. Remarquez, c’est le genre de vie qu’Il a vécue. Il est passé par la piscine de Béthesda, ou plutôt près de la piscine, où était couché un grand nombre de malades, d’infirmes, de boiteux, d’aveugles, de paralytiques.
| E-19 There's the sign of Christianity. There's the faith that they had. There's the example.
Why, she run into the city. Jesus come in, never performed any miracles or done any of His signs. He just talked to the people. They said, "We believe You. We believe you. Not because the woman said if you knowed the secret of her life, but--but because we heard you talk, we believe you. That's the reason we..." Watch what happened a little later on to that city.
Jesus went on. Notice, that's the kind of a life He lived. He passed through the pool of Bethesda, by the pool, rather, where a great multitude of impotent folk lay, lame, halt, blind, withered.

E-20 Maintenant, suivez. Croyez-vous que Jésus avait de la compassion? Il était plein d’amour. Mais, parfois c’est simplement comme les gens qui s’aiment. Ils oublient de quel genre d’amour ils parlent. L’amour phileo et l’amour agapao: un... les deux sont l’amour, mais l’un, c’est l’amour d’En Haut, et l’autre c’est l’amour d’ici sur la terre.
C’est comme je parlais à un reporteur aujourd’hui, j’ai dit: «Le–l’amour d’ici-bas, l’amour humain vous amènera à tirer sur un homme à cause de votre femme, mais l’amour qui vient d’En Haut vous amènera à prier pour son âme perdue.» C’est bien différent. Voyez-vous? L’un d’eux, c’est un amour ici en bas à ce niveau, l’amour humain; et l’autre, c’est l’amour qui vient d’En Haut.
Et quand on regarde la foule avec compassion, on dit: «Oh! ne veux-Tu pas guérir cette personne. Il est malade. Il est grandement dans le besoin. C’est un homme de bien. On le connaît. Guéris son petit bébé. Regarde.» Ça, c’est la compassion humaine. Mais la vraie (tenez), la vraie compassion divine, c’est faire la volonté de Celui qui vous a envoyé faire cela.
| E-20 Now, look. Do you believe Jesus had compassion? He was full of love. But it's just like the people sometimes, in love. They forget what kind of love they're talking about. The Phileo love and the Agapao love: one... Both of them is love, but one's love above, and the other is love here on earth.
As I was talking to a reporter today, I said, "The--the love down here, the human love would make you shoot a man on account of your wife, but the love that comes from above would make you pray for his lost soul." Quite different. See? One of them is a love down here on this level, human love, and the other is the love that comes from above.
And in compassions that looks out upon the crowd and say, "Oh, won't You heal this person. And he's sick. He's in such a need. This is a good man. We know him. Heal his little baby. Look," that's human compassion. But real (Here it is.), real Divine compassion is to do the will of Him that sent you to do it.

E-21 Jésus est passé à côté de tous ces malades, et de ces affligés, et de ces infirmes; Il est allé là et a trouvé un homme qui était couché sur un grabat, Il a dit: «Veux-tu être guéri?»
«Eh bien, a-t-il dit, je peux marcher. Lorsque je descends à la piscine, oh! quelqu’un qui est en meilleure condition que moi y entre avant moi.»
Jésus a dit... maintenant suivez, Jésus savait que cet homme était étendu là, que ça faisait trente-huit ans qu’il était malade, il avait cette maladie depuis trente-huit ans. Pourquoi guérirait-Il un homme comme cela? Il faisait la volonté du Père. Et Il l’a trouvé. Il a dit: «Prends ton lit, et va chez toi.» Il a roulé son lit et a fait ce que Jésus lui avait dit de faire, il s’en est allé en marchant.
Les Juifs L’ont trouvé, ils se sont mis à L’interroger. Ils L’ont amené devant la justice. Jésus a été amené devant la justice.
Et au 19e–après le 5e chapitre de Jean et au 19e verset, Jésus, lorsque Jésus était interrogé... Je me demande sur quoi on interrogeait Jésus. Premièrement, Il avait guéri un homme le jour du sabbat. | E-21 Jesus passed on by all the sick, and the afflicted, and the crippled, went over there, found a man laying on a pallet, said, "Will thou be made whole?"
"Well," he said, "I can walk. When I'm coming down to the pool, why, somebody's a little better off than I am steps in ahead of me."
Jesus said... Now look, Jesus knew that he was laying there, had been sick thirty-eight years, had this disease for thirty-eight years. Why would He heal someone like that? He was doing the will of the Father. And He found him. He said, "Take up thy bed and go into your house." He rolled his bed up and done what Jesus told him to do, went walking on.
The Jews found Him, begin to question Him. They brought Him into a trial. Jesus was brought to a trial.
And the 19th, after 5th chapter of Saint John and the 19th verse, Jesus when He was questioned... I wonder what they were questioning Jesus about. First thing, healing on the sabbath. Next thing, "Why don't You heal them down there? Go down there and make all them well if You can do it?"

E-22 Ecoutez la remarque par laquelle Jésus a répondu. Il a dit: «En vérité, en vérité, Je vous le dis, le Fils ne peut rien faire de Lui-même, Il ne fait que ce que le Père Lui montre. Ce que Je vois faire au Père, le Père Me le montre, et ensuite Je vais et fais cela.»
En d’autres termes, Jésus ne faisait rien de Lui-même avant d’avoir vu une vision montrant ce que le Père Lui disait de faire. Ensuite, Il allait et accomplissait cela. Voilà le christianisme: accomplir la volonté de Dieu. C’était Sa vie. C’est ce qu’a fait Jésus.
Eh bien, qu’a-t-Il dit pendant qu’Il s’en allait? Nous combattons pour la foi qui a été transmise une fois pour toutes. Cela devait venir de quelque part, si elle a été transmise aux saints. Est-ce juste? La foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes, qui l’a transmise?
Il a dit: «Encore un peu de temps, et le monde ne Me verra plus; mais vous, vous Me verrez. Car Je serai avec vous, même en vous jusqu’à la fin du monde; et vous ferez aussi les oeuvres que Je fais. Vous en ferez davantage, car Je m’en vais au Père.» Saisissez-vous cela? Qu’était-ce?
| E-22 Listen at Jesus remark back. He said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing in Himself, but what the Father shows Me. What I see the Father doing, the Father shows Me, and then I go do it."
In other words Jesus done nothing in Himself until He saw a vision of what the Father said do. Then He went and done it. That's Christianity: doing the will of God. That was His life. That's what Jesus did.
Now, what did He say when He went away? We're contending for the faith that was once delivered. It had to come from somewhere if it was delivered to the saints. Is that right? The faith that was once delivered unto the saints, who delivered it?
He said, "A little while and the world will see Me no more. Yet, you shall see Me, for I will be with you even in you, to the end of the world; and the things that I do shall you also." Even more than this, for I go to My Father." You get it? What was it?

E-23 La foi qu’Il représentait, Il l’a transmise à l’Eglise qui doit la porter jusqu’à la fin du monde. Amen. Oh! j’espère que cela pénètre profondément en vous. Regardez sous votre cinquième côte gauche.
Remarquez, c’était cela la–la foi dont Jude parlait. Ce genre de foi, les oeuvres qu’avait accomplies Jésus, la foi qu’Il avait en Dieu, Il a transmis la même chose aux saints. Car Il a dit: «Vous ferez aussi les choses que Je fais.» Alléluia! J’espère que c’est en ordre.
Remarquez: «Vous ferez aussi les oeuvres que Je fais. Je vous transmets ceci. Mais avant que vous puissiez l’avoir, montez là à la cité de Jérusalem et attendez un peu. Je vais vous envoyer la promesse du Père. Je reviendrai vous voir très bientôt. Je monte au Calvaire. Ils vont Me crucifier et Me livrer entre les mains des gens des nations. Des méchants vont Me crucifier, mais Je ressusciterai le troisième jour. Ensuite, Je vais revenir. Alors, restez ici dans la ville de Jérusalem.» Luc 24.49: «Restez ici, ou attendez là dans la ville de Jérusalem avant d’aller par tout le monde avec cet Evangile. J’aimerais que vous montiez à la ville de Jérusalem et que vous attendiez jusqu’à ce que Je vienne.»
| E-23 The faith that He represented, He delivered to the Church to take it to the ends of the world. Amen. Oh, I hope you just really gets down under your skin. Look to your fifth rib on the left side.
Notice, that was the--the faith that Jude was talking about. That kind of a faith, the things that Jesus did, the faith that He had in God, He delivered that same thing to the saints. For He said, "The same things that I do, you do also." Hallelujah. I hope it's all right.
Notice, "The things that I do, shall you also. I deliver this to you. But before you can have it, go up there to the city of Jerusalem and wait a little while. I'm going to send the promise of the Father upon you. I'll be back to see you pretty soon. I'm going up to Calvary. They're going to crucify Me and turn Me into hands of the Gentiles. Wicked men will crucify Me, but I'll raise on the third day. Then I'm coming back again. So tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem." Luke 24:49, "Tarry ye, or wait, up at the city of Jerusalem before you go into all the world with this Gospel. I want you to go up to the city of Jerusalem and wait there until I come."

E-24 Il est celui qui sera en vous, c’est Lui qui était venu sous la forme de l’Esprit. «Montez et attendez, car Je vais envoyer une promesse, ce que le Père vous a promis. Oh! la la! le seul but de Sa mort au Calvaire, c’était de sauver un pécheur et de donner à l’Eglise la puissance ou l’autorité, et la foi pour accomplir les mêmes choses qu’Il faisait, ou d’ouvrir un coeur, de créer un canal pour qu’Il puisse Lui-même y demeurer. J’espère que vous comprenez cela.
Observez. Nous verrons si cela s’est accompli. Très bien. Lorsqu’Il est parti et que le Saint-Esprit est venu le jour de la Pentecôte... Observez. Immédiatement, un petit gars du nom de Philippe, tout rempli de Christ, est descendu à Samarie où Jésus n’avait accompli aucun miracle, mais où Il avait dit à la femme, par une révélation divine, ce qui n’allait pas dans sa vie et ainsi de suite, il est allé là-bas, a prêché et a accompli des miracles, et il a chassé des démons, et il y a eu une grande réjouissance dans la ville. C’était la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes.
| E-24 If He's the one that's going to be in you, it was Him that come in Spirit form. "Go up and wait, for I'm going to send a promise, the Father had promised you. I'm going to send it upon you. Then I'll be with you, even in you, all the way to the end of the world. And I will be in you, doing the same things that I did while I was here in this Body. I'll be back in My mystical Body doing the same thing? See it? Oh, my. The only thing His death was at Calvary was to save a sinner and produce to the Church the power or the authority, and the faith to do the same things that He did, or to open up a heart, make a channel that Himself could dwell in. Hope you see it.
Watch. We'll see if it did. All right. When He went away and the Holy Ghost come on the day of Pentecost... Watch. Immediately a little fellow named Philip, all filled with Christ, went down to Samaria where Jesus had not done any miracles, but told the woman in a Divine revelation of what was wrong with her and so forth; went down there and preached and performed miracles, and cast out devils, and they had great joy in the city. That was the faith that was once delivered to the saints.

Et pendant qu’on préparait le déjeuner par ici sur le rivage, chez un corroyeur nommé Simon, Simon Pierre est monté sur le toit de la maison; en effet, c’est une habitude en Orient de dormir sur le toit de la maison, de manger sur le toit de la maison et tout. Pierre est monté et s’est assis, et il se reposait un petit peu. Et pendant qu’il se reposait, il était un représentant de la foi.
Nous devons nous dépêcher maintenant. Il est presque 21 heures. Ecoutez ceci, alors que nous terminons.
| E-25 Peter, after being filled with the Holy Spirit, was out on a journey one day, and went up to the top of the house to wait for dinner. He probably didn't have any breakfast 'cause he was hungry. And while we were making ready down here by the seaside, and Simon's house a tanner, Simon Peter went up on the housetop, which was customary in the Orient, to sleep up on the housetop, to eat up on the house top, and everything. Peter went up and set down, and was resting a little while. And while he was resting, he was a representative of the faith.

E-26 Il devait représenter la foi. En effet, Jésus lui avait dit qu’il allait la représenter. Ainsi donc, quand il tomba en extase... Je me demande dans quel état il est entré. La Bible dit qu’Il était en extase.
Aujourd’hui les gens diraient: «Voilà un spirite.»
Il tomba en extase, et alors il vit une vision. Que lui disait la vision? Exactement la volonté de Dieu. C’est la même chose qui se faisait avec Jésus de Nazareth.
Vous direz: «Maintenant écoute, Pierre. J’aimerais que tu montes là. Il y a des hommes qui viennent, ils t’attendent maintenant, et je t’ai montré cette vision de cette nappe pleine de créatures impures.
Et Pierre s’est levé, il a dit: «Oh! non. Non, non. Je ne mangerai jamais quelque chose d’interdit.» Il a dit: «Je–je... Jamais rien d’impur n’est entré dans ma bouche. Il a dit: «Je ne mangerai pas.»
Il a dit: «Ce que Dieu a déclaré pur, ne le regarde pas comme souillé.» Il a dit: «Maintenant, Pierre, tu ne comprends pas la vision, mais il y a deux hommes qui t’attendent, lève-toi et pars avec eux sans hésiter.» Oh! la la! voilà la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes. Voilà comment ils avaient agi avec cela.
| E-26 He had to represent the faith. For Jesus had told him that he would represent it. So then when he fell into a trance... Wonder what kind of condition he got into. The Bible said he was in a trance.
Today they'd say "There's a spiritualist."
He fell into a trance, and in the trance he saw a vision. What was the vision telling him? Exactly the will of God. The same thing that happened to Jesus of Nazareth.
You say, "Now look, Peter, I want you to go up. There's some men coming, waiting for you now, and I've showed you this vision of this sheet full of unclean things."
And Peter raised up, said, "Oh, no. Huh-uh. I'll never eat anything wrong." Said, "I--I... Never not a thing unclean's went into my body." Said, "I'll not eat."
He said, "Don't you call common and unclean what I've made clean." Said, "Now, Peter, you don't understand the vision, but there's two men waiting for you. Get up, and go on with them doubting nothing." Oh, my. There's the faith that was once delivered to the saints. That's the way they acted with it.

E-27 Alors Pierre s’est levé, peut-être qu’il n’avait même pas pris son dîner, et il est parti. Et Corneille avait eu une vision, il a appelé tous les siens, les élus, il les a fait entrer dans sa maison, et il les a fait asseoir, probablement qu’ils avaient pris la tablette qu’on utilise pour se laver, et tout, qu’ils avaient tiré les chaises et avaient fait asseoir tout le monde autour. Et Pierre est entré et il s’est mis à témoigner et à leur dire comment le Saint-Esprit était descendu sur eux le jour de la Pentecôte.
Et comme Pierre prononçait encore ces mots, le Saint-Esprit descendit sur les Gentils. Voilà la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes. Et ils se sont tous mis à parler en langues, à exalter Dieu, à glorifier Dieu, ils ont tenu le même genre de réunion qu’eux au jour de la Pentecôte. Pierre a dit: «Peut-on refuser l’eau du baptême à ceux-ci, vu qu’ils ont reçu le Saint-Esprit comme nous au commencement?» Alors, il ordonna qu’ils fussent baptisés au Nom du Seigneur. Et il est resté avec eux plusieurs jours.
Et pendant ce temps, il y avait un–un homme très indifférent, Paul, qui détenait une licence, un doctorat en théologie et un doctorat en philosophie, et qui connaissait tout sur la théologie. Il a dit: «Je vais mettre la main sur cette bande de gens, ces fous...» C’est ce qu’il a dit: «Une hérésie.» Comment appelle-t-on une personne qui pratique l’hérésie? Un hérétique. Un cinglé, un fou. Il a dit: «Je vais les arrêter tous. Ils ne savent même pas de quoi ils parlent.»
| E-27 So Peter got up, perhaps, never even eat his dinner, and away he went up. And Cornelius had seen a vision, and he called all of his people the elect, brought them in, and set them, probably took the wash bench, and everything, pulled out the chairs, and set all the people around. And Peter came in and begin to testify and tell them how the Holy Spirit fell on them on the day of Pentecost.
And while Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on the Gentiles. That's the faith that was once delivered to the saints. And they all begin to speak with tongues, and magnify God, and glorify God, having the same kind of a meeting like they did on the day of Pentecost. Peter said, "Can we forbid water, seeing that these receive the Holy Ghost like we did at the beginning." So he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord. And he tarried with them several days.
Along this time was a--a very indifferent man, Paul, with a Bachelor's degree and a D.D. and a Ph.D. that knowed all about all of theology. He said, "I'll take that bunch of people and, crazy people..." That's what he said, "Heresy." What is a person that's heresy, a heretic? Cuckoo, crazy. Said, "I'll arrest everyone of them. They don't even know what they're talking about."

E-28 Paul était ici en bas dans le domaine naturel, muni de son doctorat. Voyez-vous? Il ne savait pas... Il avait une foi intellectuelle, mais il n’avait pas une foi divine. Il y a une grande différence entre avoir une foi intellectuelle et avoir une foi divine. C’est là que vous, mes amis baptistes, vous manquez d’avancer. Vous obtenez la foi intellectuelle par cela, mais il vous faut avoir une révélation divine de Jésus-Christ, laquelle vient du coeur. La foi intellectuelle ne suffit pas. C’est très bien, mais elle vous amène seulement au Saint-Esprit. Le Saint-Esprit est une expérience personnelle de la naissance, de la nouvelle naissance, de la régénération, faisant de vous une nouvelle créature en Christ.
Suivez, Paul est monté sur son coursier, et il s’est rendu à Damas muni de quelques lettres de la part du souverain sacrificateur, et il a dit: «Je vais arrêter tous ces hérétiques. Je vais les ramener.»
Voyez, comment l’Evangile s’est répandu. Il n’est pas resté là inactif comme c’est le cas aujourd’hui. Frère, lorsque les gens ont vu les oeuvres que Dieu accomplissait par les apôtres, ils sont allés partout. Ils étaient vraiment en feu. Ils faisaient quelque chose. Le réveil de Philippe a produit probablement quelque chose de glorieux.
Et pendant que Paul était là-bas en route vers Damas en provenance de la Samarie, qu’il se dirigeait vers Damas, Dieu avait appelé un homme et l’avait rempli du Saint-Esprit, et Il lui avait accordé le don de discernement. Et il s’appelait Ananias.
Alors Paul était en route; voilà la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes. Paul était en route, faisant trotter son grand coursier; c’était juste un bluff, il proférait de grandes menaces: «Je veux arriver à ce grand...?... Je–je vais m’occuper d’eux. Je vais mettre fin à tous ces bruits insolites, à ces visions et à ce–et à toutes ces prophéties. Je vais mettre un–je vais mettre un terme à cela.
| E-28 Paul was down here in the natural realm with his Ph.D. See? He didn't know... He had an intellectual faith, but he didn't have a Divine faith. There's quite a difference in me having an intellectual faith than a Divine faith. There's where you, my Baptist friends, fail to go on. You get the intellectual faith by that, but it must be a Divine revelation of Jesus Christ to you that just came out of the heart. The intellectual faith is not enough. That's all right, but it only brings you to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a personal experience of the birth, the new birth, regeneration, making a new creature in Christ.
Notice, Paul jumped on his steed, and down to Damascus with some letters from the high priest, said, "I'll arrest everyone of them heretics. I'll bring them back."
Look how the Gospel got spread. It didn't set still like it is today. Brother, when they seen the works of God doing performed to those apostles, away they went. They were really on fire. They were doing something. Probably Philip's revival produced a great thing.
And when over there Paul on his road to Damascus from Samaria over to Damascus, God had done called a man, and filled him with the Holy Ghost, and give him the gift of discernment. And his name was Ananias.
So Paul on road down; that's the faith that was once delivered to the saints. Paul on his rode down, trotting along down on his big old steed, just a bluff, pulling out great big old things. "I wish I'll get down to the big...?... I--I'll take care of them. I will stop all that rare noise and them visions and that--all that prophesying. I'll put a--I'll put a end to it."

E-29 Et presqu’à ce moment-là la Colonne de Feu qui avait conduit les enfants d’Israël, Elle ne lui était jamais apparue, mais Elle l’a frappé en plein visage et l’a renversé de son cheval. Amen. Il s’est mis à se rouler par terre, il a levé les yeux, et Cela brillait tellement... La même Colonne de Feu, une Lumière qui brillait plus fort que le soleil dans sa–lorsqu’il est au zénith. Paul secoua la tête.
Il a dit: «Saul, Saul, pourquoi Me persécutes-tu?»
Il a dit: «Seigneur, Qui est-ce que je persécute?» Quelle différence!
Dieu a dit: «Maintenant, voyez-vous ce que Je vais faire de lui? Je vais faire de lui–Je vais faire de lui un vase; Je vais l’amener à Me servir.» Dieu a une façon de faire les choses, vous savez.
Alors Il a dit: «Maintenant, lève-toi, tiens-toi debout et va à la rue qu’on appelle la Droite.» Voilà un bon endroit où amener un nouveau converti. Et... Il a dit: «Descends à Damas et... la rue qu’on appelle la Droite.»
Maintenant, je peux m’imaginer Paul entrer là quelque part, et dire: «Madame, oh! ma tête me fait mal. Mes yeux, c’est à peine si je peux voir un petit reflet. Et je suis dans un état terrible.» Il s’était trouvé une petite chambre, qu’il louait, là dans un hôtel, et il est entré là. Et durant toute la journée, il a prié, disant: «Seigneur Jésus, je vais simplement déchirer toutes ces lettres qu’Ananias m’a remises. Je–je ne veux plus rien savoir là-dessus. Je veux en savoir plus sur Toi, Seigneur.»
| E-29 And about that time the Pillar of Fire that led the children of Israel, never appeared before him, but smacked him right in the face and knocked him off his horse. Amen. Begin to wallow around him, looked up, and it was so bright around... The same Pillar of Fire, a Light that shined down stronger than the sun in its--middle of its heat. Paul shook his head.
He said, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me?"
Said, "Lord, Who is it I'm persecuting?" What a difference.
God said, "Now, you see what I'm going to do to him? I'm going to make him--I'm going to make him a vessel; I'll make him serve Me." God's got a way of doing things, you know.
So He said, "Now, rise, stand up on your feet and go down to the street called Straight." That's a good place to take a new convert. And... Said, "Go down to Damascus and... street called Straight."
Now, I can imagine Paul going into somewhere there, and said, "Lady, oh, my heads a hurting. My eyes, I can hardly see a little flash. And I'm in such an awful fix." Got a little room, and rented it, over there in the hotel, and got in there. And all the day, he prayed, saying, "Lord, Jesus, I'll just tear up these old letters that Ananias give me. I--I don't want to know no more about them. I want to know more about You, Lord."

E-30 Et il y avait là-bas un vieux prédicateur, du nom d’Ananias, qui avait des visions. Voyez-vous, la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes, comment l’avait-il reçue? Voyez-vous? L’Evangile avait été prêché.
Et Ananias a eu une vision, il a vu un homme du nom de Saul étendu dans une maison, qui se roulait, s’agitait et pleurait sans arrêt. Le Seigneur a dit: «Ananias, va là sur la rue qu’on appelle la Droite, et impose-lui les mains, afin qu’il recouvre la vue, qu’il soit guéri et qu’il reçoive le Saint-Esprit.»
Qu’est-ce? Dieu est apparu en vision à Ananias. La foi que Jésus a apportée, les–les résultats qui l’accompagnent étaient manifestés dans l’Eglise. Il a dit: «Vas-y maintenant, impose-lui les mains, il recevra le Saint-Esprit et il recouvrira la vue.»
Dieu se révèle encore aux gens: «Va, impose les mains à celui-ci, dis à celui-ci, parle à celui-ci, va par ici vers celui-là.» Vous voyez cela chaque soir. Amen.
Il a dit: «Va là-bas et impose-lui les mains.»
Ananias a dit: «Seigneur, j’ai entendu parler de cet homme.» Il a dit: «Il arrache les gens de leur maison, les menace, et nous avons appris qu’il a des lettres de la part du souverain sacrificateur.»
Dieu a dit: «Voici, il prie.»
Lorsqu’il est sorti de la vision, je peux le voir s’essuyer les yeux et revenir à son état normal, il tend la main et prend sa Bible, pour ainsi dire, son manuscrit, il le met sous le bras, et le voici qui descend la rue.
| E-30 And there was an old preacher down there, who saw visions by the name of Ananias. See? The faith that was once delivered to the saints, how did he get it? See? The Gospel had been preached.
And Ananias saw a vision, and he saw a man named Saul laying in a house, rolling, and tossing, and crying, and going on. The Lord said, "Ananias, go down there in the street called Straight, and lay your hands upon him, that he get his sight back again, and be healed and receive the Holy Ghost?"
What is it? God appeared in a vision to Ananias. The faith that Jesus brought, the--the results that come with it, was produced on the Church. Said, "Go on down now, lay your hands on him, and he will receive the Holy Ghost and receive his sight."
God still reveals to people, "Go, lay your hands on this one, tell this one, speak to this one, go over here to that one." You see it every night. Amen.
Said, "Go down and lay your hands on him."
He said, "Lord, I've heard about this fellow." Said, "He draws out, threatens, and we hear he's got letters from the high priest."
God said, "Behold, he prayeth."
When he come out of the vision, I can see him wiping his eyes and getting hisself back normal again, reached and got his Bible, as it was, his Script, and put it under his arm, and here he goes down the street.

E-31 Il regarde au bas de la rue qu’on appelle la Droite, il dit: «Eh bien, voyons. J’ai vu dans cette vision une maison d’un certain aspect. Où est-il?» Il dépasse le parc de la ville, il dépasse la cour de la maison, il dépasse la synagogue, il avance. Et là, il dit: «Oh! c’est ça. Voilà l’endroit que j’ai vu dans la vision.» Il s’avance là et frappe à la porte, ouvre et entre. Voici le vieux Saul couché là, se roulant, se tordant et priant.
Il s’avance vers lui et dit: «Frère Saul (Amen.)... Frère Saul, tu as eu une vision quand tu étais en route, n’est-ce pas? Le Seigneur Jésus t’est apparu là-bas.»
Je peux entendre Saul dire: «Comment le sais-tu?»
«Eh bien, Il m’est apparu par ici, et Il m’a tout dit à ce sujet.»
Voici la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes. Il a dit: «Il est venu à ma rencontre là et m’a dit de venir ici et de t’imposer les mains afin que tu sois guéri, et aussi afin que tu reçoives le Saint-Esprit; car Il t’a choisi.» Oh! la la! vous y êtes.
| E-31 Looking down the street called Straight, said, "Now, let's see. I seen in that vision a house that looked a certain way. Where is he?" He goes on past the city park, down a past the court house, on down past the synagogue, walking along. And over there, he said, "Oh, that's it. That's the place I saw in a vision." Goes up there and knocks at the door, opens up and goes in, here laid old Saul in there, rolling, and tumbling, and praying.
He walked up to him and said, "Brother Saul (Amen.)... Brother Saul, you see a vision coming down, didn't you? The Lord Jesus appeared to you, up there."
I can hear Saul say, "How do you know it?"
"Why, He appeared to me down here, and told me all about it."
That's the faith that was once delivered to the saints. He said, "He met me down there and told me, 'Come up here and lay hands on you that you could be healed,' and also, that you might receive the Holy Ghost; for He's chose you.'" Oh, my. There you are.

E-32 Et il lui a imposé les mains, et il a prié comme il–Dieu le lui avait demandé. Et les yeux de Paul ont été guéris. Et il l’a directement amené à la rivière et l’a baptisé, en invoquant le Nom du Seigneur, qui avait lavé ses péchés. Et Paul a été appelé à prêcher l’Evangile. Voilà la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes.
Paul se tenait là un soir, il était prisonnier dans le... à bord des galères de la Rome antique. Je me suis tenu à l’endroit où il a été décapité et jeté dans la fosse par une fenêtre...?... Là Paul est sorti de la prison, est embarqué dans un vieux navire qui partait chargé de blé. Et là en route, il a parlé aux passagers, il a dit: «Je pense que nous ne devrions pas partir d’ici, de la Crète, pour aller là.» Il a dit: «Je crains que vous vous causiez des ennuis.»
«Oui, qui est ce prisonnier de toute façon? Embarquez-le!» Et ils ont passé quatorze jours et quatorze nuits dans ce grand ouragan, tout espoir d’être sauvé avait disparu. Ils étaient ballottés dans tous les sens, et l’aiguille de la boussole s’est cassée. Tout, le mât est tombé, et quelle–quelle situation! Les voiles étaient déchiquetées, et chaque homme hurlait et pleurait; tout espoir d’être sauvé avait disparu. Paul avait des chaînes aux mains et aux pieds.
| E-32 And he laid his hands upon him, and prayed as he--God asked him to. And Paul's eyes was healed. And he took him right down to the river and baptized him, calling on the Name of the Lord, washing away his sins. And Paul was called to the Gospel. That's the faith that was once delivered to the saints.
Paul standing up there one night, being a prisoner in the... going to the galleys of old Rome. I stood in the place where they chopped his head off and pitched him out a window into the ditch...?... There Paul, in prison, going out, was put on an old ship, going over laden down with wheat. And on his road out there, he told the people, said, "I feel that we shouldn't loose from here, from Crete, and go out there." He said, "I'm afraid you're going to cause some trouble."
"Yeah, who is this prisoner anyhow? Get him on the board." And fourteen days and nights in the great hurricane, all hopes of ever being saved was gone. They was tossed back and forth, and the compass needle broke. Everything, the mast fell, and what a--what a condition. The old sails was ripped into threads, and every man was screaming and crying; and all hopes that they'd ever be saved was gone. Here was Paul with his chains on his hands and on his feet.

E-33 Une nuit, il descendit dans la galerie, peut-être dans la cloison, il rampa jusqu’à un petit endroit et ferma la porte, un cabinet secret, et il se mit à prier, peut-être toute la nuit. Le lendemain matin, on entendit les cliquetis de chaînes, quelqu’un montait les marches, voici venir Paul. Il se tient là secouant ses mains, à cause des callosités qui s’étaient formées sur ses mains par l’effet des chaînes, parce qu’il prêchait l’Evangile, combattant pour la foi qui avait été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes, avec ces chaînes aux mains.
Suivez. S’il avait prêché cela et avait combattu pour cela, Dieu le récompensera pour cela. Le voilà avec ses mains dans cet état-là, il dit: «Un instant. Un instant. Prenez courage, vous tous.» Et le vieux navire était ballotté dans tous les sens. «Prenez courage. Car l’Ange de Dieu, dont je suis le serviteur, m’est apparu cette nuit.» Ça pouvait être la Colonne de Feu, je ne sais pas ce que c’était. Ça peut être la même Colonne de Feu qui est allée vers Pierre et l’a fait sortir de la prison. Je ne sais pas.
Mais il a dit: «L’Ange de Dieu dont je suis le serviteur, m’est apparu cette nuit et a dit: ‘Ne crains point, Paul’...» Il a dit: «Vous tous, gentlemen, j’ai eu une vision cette nuit. L’Ange du Seigneur est venu vers moi et m’a dit de ne pas avoir peur. En effet, il faut que je comparaisse devant César, cependant, ce petit navire échouera sur une certaine île. Et remarquez, il faut que je comparaisse devant César. Et Dieu m’a donné chacun de vous qui naviguez avec moi, Il m’a donné chacun de vous. Look. If he preached it and contend for it, God will reward him with it. There he is with his hands like that, said, "Just a minute. Just a minute. Be of a good courage, everyone of you." And the old ship tossing back and forth. "Be of a good courage. For the Angel of God, Whose servant I am, stood by me last night," might've been a Pillar of Fire, I don't know what It was. Might've been the same One come to Peter and took him out of prison. I don't know.
But said, "The Angel of God, Whose servant I am, stood by me last night, saying, 'Don't fear, Paul..." Said, "Everyone, gentlemen, I saw a vision last night. The Angel of the Lord came to me, and told me not to fear. For I must be brought be Caesar, howbeit, this little ship is going to wrecked on a certain island. And watch, I've got to stand before Caesar, and God has give everyone of you that sail with me, is giving you to me. Wherefore, brethren," he said, "be of a good cheer, for I believe God. It'll be just as it was shown unto me." The faith that was once delivered to the saints, what was it? The Spirit of Christ in the apostle. Is that right?

| E-34 Quickly, got to close... The Spirit of Christ in the apostles... We've often called the Book, "The Acts of the Apostles." That was wrong. It's the Acts of Christ in the Apostles, 'cause they were men. But they had the same faith.
Now, the Spirit of Christ in the apostles which what was doing that? Thirty-three years later, Jude said, "continually contend for that faith. I will give all diligence to write unto you to exhort you (to stir you up in other words), that you would earnestly (earnestly), contend, (keep holding out) for the same faith that was delivered to the saints."
Does your church believe that? If it does, it's contending for the faith that was once delivered to the saints. Earnestly contend for the faith.
Now, does your church believe that Jesus Christ in the form of the Holy Spirit, is here today? If we believe the Holy Spirit is here, then the Bible said, "Jesus Christ was the same yesterday, today, and forever." Then the same Holy Spirit was upon the apostles has got to be the same Holy Spirit that's here today. Is that right?
What if I told you tonight that the spirit of John Dillinger was in me? Why, it'd be dangerous to be here. You look for me to have two big guns on my side, because the spirit of John Dillinger, an outlaw was in me.
What if I told you the spirit of some great famous artist was in me? You'd expect me to dip the brush into the paint and paint a picture here of the sunset or the tides rolling yonder, that would fascinate you and hold you spellbound.

And remember, continually contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints, brought forth by Jesus Christ, handed down from the apostles down to the Saint Frances, and so forth, on down, on down. He's the same Lord Jesus, yesterday, today, and forever. And I am here tonight to contend for the faith that was once delivered to the saints. Et, Père, je Te prie ce soir de prendre maintenant ce service entre Tes mains, et de venir accomplir quelque chose comme Tu l’avais fait là autrefois. Comme ce que Tu avais fait devant ceux-là à Emmaüs, ce jour-là, en brisant le pain, Tu l’avais fait différemment de quiconque d’autre; et leurs yeux se sont ouverts et ils ont compris que c’était Toi, que Tu étais là. Ils ont reconnu qui Tu étais. Ne voudrais-Tu pas venir ce soir et faire la même chose, peut-être, pas la même chose, mais faire quelque chose d’une manière telle que nous reconnaîtrons que c’est le même Jésus qui a été présenté au monde, la foi qu’avaient les saints, et qui continue encore aujourd’hui.
Que les incrédules, les sceptiques soient sauvés ce soir. Que les malades soient guéris et que les saints se réjouissent. Car nous le demandons au Nom de Jésus, Ton Fils, qui nous a promis ces choses. Amen.
| E-36 Father, these few broken words that have been spoken now, some forty-five minutes long, tarried long, longer than I intended to, because of the press and feeling of the Message, the Word, to get to the people... If they can only receive the Word, then they'll have You in their hearts. And when I'm miles away, they'll still have the faith that was once delivered to the saints.
Father, the best of my knowledge, I have told the truth, and the... All that I know how to say, that that is the truth. It's the faith. And now, Lord Jesus, You Who so wonderfully said these words, "I'll be with you, even in you, to the end of the world," won't You come tonight and manifest Your resurrection in the power of Deity, the power of vision, the power of healing, the power of forgiveness of sins. Manifest Yourself to this, we waiting children, hungry-hearted. We want to see the manifestation of the faith that was once delivered to the saints. No matter how many times You come, Lord, I still love it. I want to see it again and again; for I love You. I want to be with you forever.
And, Father, I pray tonight that You'll take this service into Thy hands now, and come and do something like You did back there. Like You did to those at Emmaus, that day, breaking the bread, You done it different from anybody else; and their eyes were opened and they realized You, that You was there. They recognized Who You was. Won't You come tonight and do the same thing, maybe, not the same thing, but do something in a manner, that we'll know that it's the same Jesus that introduced to the world, the faith that the saints had, and still carrying on today.
May the unbeliever, the skeptic be saved tonight. May the sick be healed and the saints rejoice. For we ask it in Jesus Name, Thy Son, Who promised us these things. Amen.

Cette dame est une– une femme de couleur. Et elle, de par ses origines, son état, elle est une Ethiopienne; et moi, je suis un Anglo-Saxon, ou un homme de race blanche. C’est la même chose qui s’est produite en Samarie, lorsque Jésus avait rencontré la femme samaritaine. Et elle a dit: «Il n’est pas de coutume que vous, vous ayez des relations avec nous.» Parce qu’ils avaient un problème racial en ce jour-là. Mais Jésus lui a clairement fait comprendre qu’il n’y avait aucune différence entre les peuples. C’est juste.
«Car ce n’est ni sur cette montagne ni à Jérusalem que les hommes adorent, a-t-Il dit, mais ils adorent Dieu en Esprit et en Vérité, et ce sont les gens qui font cela que le Père cherche.» Voyez-vous? En Esprit et en Vérité.
Maintenant, voici un exemple. Voici la femme, je suppose que nous sommes des inconnus l’un pour l’autre, que nous ne nous connaissons pas. Mais Dieu nous connaît tous les deux. Et Il la connaît comme une Ethiopienne, Il me connaît comme un Anglo-Saxon. Et nous sommes tous les deux issus du même sang. Et d’une seule nation, d’un seul homme, d’un seul sang, Dieu a fait... Chaque être humain a le même sang. Il peut donner une trans-... Le Chinois, le Japonais, le Jaune, le Brun, le Noir, ou le Blanc, ils ont tous le même sang, c’est simplement la couleur de leur peau. Donc, Jésus est mort pour nous deux.
Nous nous tenons ici ce soir, elle est une chrétienne; je sais qu’elle est une chrétienne, parce que... Comment ai-je su cela? Juste de la même manière que Jésus a su que Philippe était un–un croyant. Voyez-vous? Il a dit: «Voici un Israélite, dans lequel il n’y a point de fraude (qui est honnête et véridique).» Je ne l’ai jamais vue auparavant, alors comment ai-je su qu’elle est une chrétienne? Parce que l’esprit qui est en elle se sent le bienvenu. Voyez-vous? C’est une chrétienne. Elle croit.
Maintenant, elle est ici dans un but. Dieu le sait, pas moi. Mais s’Il le révèle, alors, le christianisme de l’an 33 de notre ère est en action en 1955. Est-ce juste? Alors, Jésus-Christ est le même hier, aujourd’hui et éternellement, n’est-ce pas? Comme avec les apôtres...

Now, this is an example. Here's the woman, I suppose we're strangers to each other, don't know one another. But God knows both of us. And He knows her as Ethiopian; He knows me as Anglo-Saxon. And we're both of the same blood. God made of one nation, one man, blood... Every human being has the same kind of blood. Can give trans... The Chinese, the Japanese, the yellow, the brown, the black, or white, they're all the same blood, just the color of their skin. So Jesus Christ died for both of us.
We stand here tonight, her a Christian; I know she's a Christian, 'cause... How do I know that? Just the same way that Jesus knowed that Philip was a--a believer. See? He said, "Behold, an Israelite in whom there is no guile (honest and truthful.)" I never seen her before, so how did I know she's a Christian? Because moving in is a welcome spirit. See? She's a Christian. She believes.
Now, she's here for some purpose. God knows that, I don't. But if He reveals it, then Christianity of A.D. 33 is in operation in 1955. Is that right? Then Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever, isn't He? As with the apostles...

S’il s’agit des gens qui sont là et qui n’ont pas des cartes de prière, ce sont ceux qu’Il choisit. Ceci, ce sont les gens qui ont simplement été appelés selon un numéro. Alors, je ne peux pas savoir qui vous êtes, et pourquoi vous êtes venu ici. Mais lorsqu’Il montre des visions là, il s’agit de quelqu’un au sujet duquel Il veut connaître quelque chose (Voyez-vous?), ou plutôt dire quelque chose. Que le Seigneur vous bénisse.
