Dans Sa Présence
1 Merci, Frère Neville. Que le Seigneur te bénisse abondamment.
Et bonsoir, mes amis. C’est un grand privilège d’être de retour ici, dans ce bâtiment encore ce soir, et de sentir l’infaillible Présence de notre Seigneur, comme Il l’a promis. Maintenant, je sais que beaucoup d’entre vous sont restés pour le petit Message de ce soir, et j’en suis très reconnaissant. Et beaucoup d’entre vous devront encore parcourir de longues distances en voiture ce soir, pour rentrer chez eux. Certains ont déjà libéré leurs chambres de motel, si j’ai bien compris. Nous allons essayer de ne pas vous retenir longtemps, c’est d’ailleurs pour cette raison que nous sommes venus tôt, pour pouvoir repartir tôt.
2 Et maintenant nous allons, aussitôt que possible, j’annoncerai quand nous allons peut-être commencer – j’ai reçu quelques appels cet après-midi, on veut savoir quand nous allons aborder ces livres, ou, ces chapitres. Je pense que, si le Seigneur le veut, j’aimerais, la fois prochaine, là, aborder les Sept Sceaux de l’Apocalypse et, les sept sceaux naturels. Et puis, si nous finissons à temps, traiter des sept sceaux qui sont sur le revers du Livre, voyez. Or ça, ça pourrait prendre un peu de temps. Voyez, il y a sept sceaux qui sont ouverts, – il y a sept fléaux, sept trompettes, tous ces sept, – et nous pourrons traiter de ces sceaux-là en premier. Mais sur le revers, là, le Livre est scellé de sept sceaux. Daniel a entendu les voix, les tonnerres, et il lui a été défendu d’écrire. Jean, il lui a été défendu d’écrire. Mais c’était scellé sur le revers du Livre, c’est-à-dire, après que tous les mystères du Livre ont été annoncés et révélés. Si vous remarquez, dans Daniel, là, il est dit que “les mystères, aux jours de ces voix, le mystère de Dieu devait être dévoilé en ce temps-là”. Voyez, “le mystère”: qui Dieu est, comment Il a été fait chair, toutes ces choses devaient être dévoilées en ce temps-là. Et alors–alors nous sommes prêts pour les Sept Sceaux sur le revers du Livre, qui n’ont même pas été révélés à l’homme, qui ne sont même pas écrits dans la Bible, mais ils devront concorder parfaitement avec le reste de la Bible, et je pense que ce sera quelque chose de glorieux.
3 Donc, maintenant nous allons essayer de nous dépêcher, pour pouvoir finir. Merci à chacun de vous pour votre gentillesse et pour votre présence, et–et pour tout ce que vous avez fait, nous vous remercions beaucoup. Et maintenant, je–j’espère que nous ne vous retiendrons pas trop longtemps ce soir, parce que vous êtes si patients, vous restez assis, vous restez debout. Ma femme disait, là-bas au fond, elle parlait d’hier soir, elle disait: “J’ai même vu des femmes assez corpulentes, elles étaient debout, leurs vêtements trempés, debout, elles saisissaient avidement chaque Parole.” C’est pour ça que j’aime rester sous l’onction du Saint-Esprit, parce qu’alors, quand on se présente devant ces gens, on leur dit la pure Vérité, voyez, et absolument rien d’autre que la Vérité. Et alors, ils pourront s’appuyer Là-dessus, et tout ira bien.
4 Maintenant, je vous prie de m’excuser pendant quelques instants. Je suis parti un peu tôt ce matin. Les magnétophones ne sont pas en marche en ce moment, et je–je, dans un instant j’indiquerai aux frères qui enregistrent à quel moment commencer l’enregistrement. Je voudrais terminer le Compte à rebours, prendre cinq minutes pour le faire, avant de repartir. J’ai oublié et je suis parti, j’étais tellement emballé, ce matin, que je suis parti sans rien dire à ce sujet. Mais, je vous ai laissés un peu comme ça: “c’était quoi, le compte à rebours?” Voyez? Je sais que nous sommes en plein compte à rebours, mais c’est quoi, ce compte à rebours? Voyez? Si vous ne savez pas ce qu’est le compte à rebours, alors vous serez un peu déconcertés. Donc, je–j’aimerais mettre la dernière main à ça, juste, et essayer de parler sur le même ton que ce matin, pour terminer cette bande maintenant, afin que la bande puisse sortir: Compte à rebours. Alors, si vous voulez bien m’excuser pendant un instant, je voudrais terminer cette bande. Me le permettez-vous, un instant seulement, après quoi nous commencerons l’autre? 5 De différents endroits, tout juste rentrés, là, nous avons passé des moments merveilleux au cours des trois derniers messages, où nous avons parlé au sujet de–de différentes doctrines et d’autres choses que nous avons exprimées. Je viens de me rappeler à l’instant que je dois laisser un petit espace, ici, pour que, vous qui vous occupez de l’enregistrement, vous puissiez changer de bande. Je vais vous dire quand ce sera le moment de commencer l’enregistrement. Bien. Maintenant, je dois surveiller ceci. Ça semble être des manières de procéder bien artificielles, mais il faut que les frères produisent cette bande. Et ils ne doivent pas mélanger tout ça; sinon, les gens, là-bas, ils ne pourront pas comprendre. C’est pourquoi nous devons le faire de cette manière. Alors, si quelqu’un veut bien sortir du local et me faire signe, là, Junior, quand ils seront prêts à changer de bande. Merci beaucoup, mes amis, je le répète, pour toutes vos gentillesses et tout. 6 Que le Seigneur vous bénisse. Nous sommes heureux d’être de nouveau ici, dans le Tabernacle, ce soir. La salle est bondée, il y a beaucoup de monde debout ce soir encore, alors que nous avons eu trois jours de…ou, trois moments de réunions. J’aimerais bien que, vous tous qui écoutez cette bande, s’il vous plaît, procurez-vous aussi la bande d’hier soir. Étudiez ça chez vous. Il est question de–de l’étape actuelle du ministère que le Seigneur m’a donné. Et plus particulièrement, j’aimerais que les ministres écoutent ça, avant que j’aille à leur église et que je me rende chez eux. Donc, j’aimerais que–qu’ils aient ça. Bon, ce matin, nous avons traité du sujet Compte à rebours, l’Église prête pour le départ.
7 Et maintenant, ce soir, Dieu voulant, nous traitons du sujet Dans Sa Présence – et ô combien nous remercions Dieu du privilège que nous avons de pouvoir venir dans Sa Présence. Mais d’abord, je voudrais que vous preniez tous avec moi, dans vos Bibles, le prophète Ésaïe, le chapitre 6 du prophète Ésaïe. Nous savons tous qu’Ésaïe était un prophète majeur, et l’un des grands prophètes de son temps. Il est mort scié avec des scies, rendant ainsi témoignage, en martyr, à la puissance du Dieu Tout-Puissant. Dans le Livre d’Ésaïe, au chapitre 6, je commence à lire au verset 5. “Alors je dis: ‘Malheur à moi!’ Car…” Je vais peut-être commencer au verset 1. Excusez-moi un instant. Commençons au verset 1 et lisons jusque vers le verset 8. L’année de la mort du roi Ozias, je vis le Seigneur assis sur un trône très élevé, et les pans de sa robe remplissaient le temple. Des séraphins se tenaient au-dessus de lui; ayant chacun six ailes: deux dont ils se couvraient la face, deux dont ils se couvraient les pieds, et deux dont ils se servaient pour voler. Ils criaient l’un à l’autre, et disaient: Saint, saint, saint est l’Éternel Dieu des armées! et toute la terre est pleine de sa gloire! Les portes furent ébranlées dans leurs fondements par la voix qui retentissait, et la maison se remplit de fumée. Alors je dis: Malheur à moi! je suis perdu, car je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impures, j’habite au milieu d’un peuple dont les lèvres sont impures, et mes yeux ont vu le Roi, l’Éternel des armées. Mais l’un des séraphins vola vers moi, tenant à la main une pierre ardente, qu’il avait prise sur l’autel avec des pincettes. Il en toucha ma bouche, et dit: Ceci a touché tes lèvres; ton iniquité est enlevée, et ton péché est expié. J’entendis la voix du Seigneur, disant: Qui enverrai-je, et qui marchera pour nous? Je répondis: Me voici, envoie-moi.
8 Que le Seigneur bénisse Sa Parole. Je trouve que c’est là une Écriture des plus saisissantes. Nous constatons que, dans la Présence de Dieu, les hommes reconnaissent qu’ils sont pécheurs. Nous nous sentons peut-être très bien lorsque nous sommes ailleurs, à différents endroits, nous avons l’impression d’être des gens très bien, mais lorsque nous entrons dans la Présence de Dieu, alors nous voyons combien nous sommes petits.
9 Il n’y a pas longtemps, j’étais avec un–un ami à moi que j’ai eu le privilège de conduire à Christ, Bert Call, dans le New Hampshire, un compagnon de chasse, nous étions près de la chute de Cold Brook, dans les Adirondacks, et c’était vraiment une chute immense, gigantesque. L’an dernier, j’ai emmené ma famille là-bas pour qu’ils voient ça. C’est très loin de la route, il faut faire une randonnée pour arriver jusque-là. Et quand nous avons vu ces flots d’eau bleu-vert qui jaillissaient avec force des montagnes et qui dévalaient sur les rochers, Bert est resté là à me regarder, il a dit: “Mince! Billy, un homme se sent petit comme ça”, en montrant environ un quart de pouce [un demi-centimètre] avec ses doigts. J’ai dit: “C’est vrai, Bert.” La seule expérience qu’il avait eue pour ce qui est d’entrer dans la Présence de Dieu, c’était de voir Sa création.
10 L’homme qui a écrit Que Tu es grand, je me demande s’il n’avait pas levé les yeux, une nuit, et regardé les étoiles – comme elles sont loin! Il y a quelques mois, Frère Fred, Frère Woods et moi, nous étions avec Frère McAnally dans le désert de l’Arizona, nous mesurions, nous essayions de mesurer la distance d’une étoile à l’autre. Et comme elles étaient à des millions et à des milliards de kilomètres, on aurait dit qu’elles n’étaient pas éloignées de plus d’un quart de pouce [d’un demi-centimètre] l’une de l’autre. Alors nous nous sommes mis à réfléchir: selon ce qui a été prouvé par la science à ce sujet, ces étoiles sont probablement plus éloignées l’une de l’autre que nous le sommes d’elles. Vous voyez ça?
11 Alors nous constatons combien nous sommes petits, quand nous constatons combien Il est grand, et combien nous sommes près, en entrant dans Sa Présence. Pour une raison ou pour une autre, entrer dans la Présence de Dieu a toujours produit un grand effet sur les gens. Il m’est déjà arrivé, dans mon ministère, de voir la Présence de Dieu remplir un lieu au point d’amener une personne à s’avancer, et lui révéler sa vie, déclarer ses péchés, toutes sortes d’actes immoraux, et les gens étaient alors plongés dans un silence sacré, au point qu’ils sortaient de la ligne de prière avant même qu’ils se soient avancés pour qu’on prie pour eux, ils se précipitaient vers l’autel et se mettaient en règle avec Dieu avant de venir dans Sa Présence. Voyez, il y a quelque chose qui fait que, quand on entre dans la Présence de Dieu, ça provoque des choses. J’ai vu des personnes qui étaient étendues sur des lits de camps et sur des civières.
12 Ce soir-là, à Mexico, quand ce petit bébé gisait mort sous une couverture, la petite maman espagnole l’a amené à l’avant, ou plutôt, la petite maman mexicaine l’a amené à l’avant. Quand ils ont vu, plusieurs milliers de personnes là-bas l’ont vu, ils étaient peut-être cinquante ou soixante-quinze mille réunis là, qui ont vu ce petit bébé mort revenir à la vie – des femmes se sont évanouies, les gens, les mains en l’air, criaient à tue-tête. Pourquoi? Ils se sont rendu compte qu’un être humain ne pouvait pas faire ça, qu’ils étaient dans la Présence du Dieu Tout-Puissant. Et ça a provoqué quelque chose.
13 J’ai eu le privilège d’entendre prêcher des hommes saints. On a raconté, une fois, au sujet de Charles Finney, un petit bout d’homme qui n’a jamais pesé plus de cent dix livres [50 kg], mais qui s’exprimait de manière tellement énergique que… Un jour, il testait l’acoustique d’un bâtiment. À cette époque-là, les systèmes de sonorisation n’existaient pas. Et un homme qui faisait des travaux de réfection en haut, au balcon, ou, en haut, sur le toit du bâtiment, a entendu cet homme qui entrait, alors, comme il ne savait pas qui étaient ces gens, il est resté bien tranquille. Et M. Finney allait tester l’acoustique. Après avoir passé beaucoup de temps en prière en vue des réunions de réveil qu’il allait faire, il a testé sa voix pour voir jusqu’où elle portait. Il est allé à la chaire en vitesse et il a dit: “Repentez-vous, sinon vous périrez!” Et il l’a dit avec tant de force–de force, après avoir été sous l’onction de Dieu, que l’homme a dégringolé du haut du balcon, sur le sol, ou, du haut du bâtiment, sur le sol.
14 Il prêchait l’Évangile avec tant d’ardeur qu’à Boston, dans le Massachusetts, il a dû se tenir dans une petite bay-window, parce qu’aucune église ne pouvait contenir sa foule. Il se tenait là à déployer une énergie si puissante, et il prêchait l’enfer comme un lieu si affreux que les ouvriers avec leur panier sous le bras s’effondraient dans la rue, implorant la miséricorde à grands cris. Dans la Présence de Dieu! De grands prédicateurs qui ont pu, par la Parole de Dieu, amener la Présence de Dieu à un auditoire. Loin de nous la pensée qu’un jour des hommes aient le coeur tellement endurci qu’ils ne puissent plus reconnaître la Présence de Dieu. Loin de nous cette pensée!
15 Quand le premier homme – dès qu’il a péché et fait quelque chose de mal, alors, quand Dieu est entré en sa présence, ou qu’il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, “Adam”, il ne pouvait pas se tenir dans la Présence de Dieu. Il a couru se cacher dans le buisson et a essayé de se couvrir avec une feuille de figuier, parce qu’il savait qu’il se trouvait dans la Présence de Jéhovah, le Créateur. Voilà quelle a été la réaction du premier homme, après qu’il avait péché, et a essayé d’entrer dans la Présence de Dieu avec un péché sur son âme. Il n’a pas pu se cacher, parce qu’il était encore tendre. Le péché n’était pas ancré comme il l’est aujourd’hui, enraciné profondément dans le coeur des gens; au contraire, Adam était très conscient du fait qu’il se trouvait devant son Créateur. Alors, il s’est caché dans les buissons, et il ne voulait pas en sortir, et ne pouvait pas en sortir, avant que Dieu ait pris des dispositions pour lui.
16 Nous pourrions retourner prendre, dans la Genèse, le chapitre 17 et le verset 3, où le grand patriarche Abraham, quand il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, et que Dieu lui a parlé (au chapitre 17) au Nom du Dieu Tout-Puissant, Abraham est tombé sur sa face. Ce grand patriarche, ce serviteur de Dieu, n’a pas pu rester debout dans la Présence de Dieu, pourtant il L’avait servi fidèlement pendant vingt-cinq ans. Mais quand Dieu est venu en sa présence, ce patriarche est tombé sur sa face, parce qu’il ne pouvait pas rester debout dans la Présence de Dieu.
17 Dans Exode 3, nous voyons que Moïse, grand serviteur et prophète de Dieu, quand il était là-bas, derrière le désert – cet homme était un homme saint. Il était né dans ce but. Il était, dès sa sortie du ventre de sa mère, né pour être prophète. Il avait essayé de s’instruire et de faire tout son possible pour délivrer son peuple, parce qu’il avait compris qu’il était celui qui allait délivrer son peuple, mais à ce moment-là il l’avait compris d’un point de vue théologique. Il avait été formé. Il avait reçu une bonne instruction. Il pouvait enseigner la sagesse aux Égyptiens, le peuple le plus intelligent du monde. Il connaissait toutes ces choses dans les moindres détails. Il connaissait les Écritures, de A à Z. Il connaissait les promesses que Dieu avait faites. Il les connaissait d’un point de vue intellectuel. Et c’était un–un grand militaire. Mais un jour, derrière le désert, quand il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, il a ôté ses souliers et il est tombé – à ses pieds, car il savait qu’il était sur une terre sainte. Il n’a pas pu rester sur ses pieds, quand il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, il est tombé sur sa face comme Abraham l’avait fait. Il n’a pas pu rester debout dans la Présence de Dieu.
18 Dans Exode 19.19, quand le peuple qui avait été choisi par Dieu bien longtemps auparavant, du temps d’Abraham: Abraham avait engendré Isaac, Isaac avait engendré Jacob, Jacob avait engendré les patriarches, les années qui s’étaient écoulées les unes après les autres avaient produit des hommes saints, de grands hommes, un peuple élu, une race élue, un peuple saint, sanctifié, des gens qui avaient servi Dieu toute leur vie. Et un jour, Dieu a dit: “Rassemble Israël ici, Je vais leur parler.”
19 Mais, quand Dieu est descendu sur le sommet du mont Sinaï, toute la montagne a été embrasée, la fumée s’élevait de là comme d’une fournaise, et la Voix de Dieu a retenti comme un rugissement. Les enfants d’Israël sont tombés sur leur face, et ils ont dit: “Que Moïse parle, et non Dieu, de peur que nous ne mourions.” L’homme, dans la Présence de Dieu, se rend compte qu’il est pécheur! Pourtant ils avaient tous été circoncis selon la Loi. Ils avaient observé les commandements et tout, mais quand Dieu a parlé et qu’ils sont entrés en Sa Présence, ils se sont rendu compte qu’ils n’y étaient pas du tout, qu’ils n’étaient–qu’ils n’étaient pas en règle, qu’il leur manquait quelque chose – parce qu’ils étaient dans la Présence de Dieu. Oui. Et ils ont dit: “Que Moïse parle, et non Dieu, car si Dieu parle, nous mourrons tous. Que Moïse nous parle.”
20 C’est dans Luc 5.8, là, que Pierre…oh, lui qui était alors un homme très têtu, un homme qui avait beaucoup d’influence, beaucoup de pouvoir, à ce qu’il paraît. Il était un genre de brute, un pêcheur bien connu. Mais quand il a vu le miracle de Dieu accompli par un Homme apparemment ordinaire, c’est à ce moment-là qu’il a reconnu qu’il fallait être plus qu’un homme pour mettre tous ces poissons dans le filet, tandis que lui, avec toute son éducation, toute sa connaissance de la pêche, il avait pêché toute la nuit et n’avait rien pris du tout. Mais il avait entendu Quelqu’un dire: “Jette ton filet à l’eau.”
21 Et quand il s’est mis à tirer, il avait là une grande quantité de poissons – il s’est rendu compte qu’il était un homme pécheur. Il a dit: “Retire-toi de moi, ô Seigneur, parce que je suis un homme pécheur.” Qui a dit ça? Saint Pierre, dans la Présence de Dieu, a demandé à Dieu de se retirer de sa présence, parce qu’il a reconnu qu’il était pécheur.
22 Abraham a reconnu qu’il était “fautif”. Adam a reconnu qu’il était “fautif”, lui qui était le fils de Dieu, il a reconnu qu’il était “fautif”. Moïse a reconnu qu’il était “fautif”. Israël, eux qui étaient une église et une nation, ils ont reconnu qu’ils étaient “fautifs”. “Retire-toi de moi, parce que je suis un homme pécheur.” Il n’a pas essayé de dire: “Moi, je suis saint et digne de recevoir ceci.” Il a dit: “Je suis un homme pécheur.”
23 Une fois, un homme religieux prétentieux, imbu de toute la théologie qu’il avait pu recevoir sous les enseignements d’un grand docteur appelé Gamaliel, son nom était Saul de Tarse, que nous connaissons sous le nom de Paul: religieux jusqu’au bout des ongles. Il connaissait toute leur religion, jusque dans les moindres détails. Il était pharisien né de pharisien, et Hébreu né d’Hébreux. Il était un homme éminent, un érudit, intelligent, habile, instruit, il prétendait avoir connu Dieu dès le berceau. Mais un jour, pendant qu’il était en route vers Damas, cette Colonne de Feu a brillé sur lui, et il est tombé sur…à ses pieds, par terre, dans la poussière, et il a dit: “Seigneur, que veux-Tu que je fasse?” Toute sa grande formation, toute sa grande formation théologique, toute son instruction, ça ne valait rien du tout lorsqu’il s’est tenu dans la Présence de Dieu.
24 J’aimerais m’arrêter ici un instant, pour vous dire que c’est encore la même chose. Vous avez peut-être un doctorat, un doctorat en théologie, peu importe ce que vous êtes, vous êtes peut-être assidu à l’église depuis votre enfance, vous avez peut-être accompli tous les actes religieux qui existent, mais une fois dans la Présence de Dieu, vous vous sentirez tellement petit et tellement nul.
25 Paul s’est rendu compte qu’il avait tort, et il est tombé par terre, sous cette influence et cette Puissance. Quand il a levé les yeux et vu le Dieu même qu’il avait prêché, et auquel il s’était opposé, qu’il avait cru connaître, et qu’il a constaté qu’il avait tort, il est tombé à la renverse, par terre, parce qu’il était dans la Présence de Dieu. Il a vu cette Colonne de Feu.
26 Et que dire du grand saint Jean, d’Apocalypse 1.7, quand la vision lui a été donnée, il a regardé, et il a entendu une Voix qui lui parlait. Il s’est retourné pour regarder, pour voir la Voix, et il a vu sept chandeliers d’or. Et Quelqu’un était debout au milieu des sept chandeliers d’or, Ses cheveux étaient comme de la laine, Ses yeux étaient comme des flammes de feu, Ses pieds étaient semblables à des colonnes d’airain, Il avait une ceinture d’or sur la poitrine, et Il s’appelait la Parole de Dieu. Et le grand saint Jean, après qu’il avait marché avec Christ, qu’il s’était appuyé sur Sa poitrine, après qu’il avait fait toutes ces choses! Comme je l’ai dit ce matin, le ministère de Paul était de beaucoup supérieur à celui de tous les autres. Voici Jean, après qu’il avait marché avec Jésus, parlé avec Lui, dormi avec Lui, mangé avec Lui, mais là, quand il L’a vu debout, dans cet état glorifié, il dit qu’il est tombé à Ses pieds comme un homme mort. Amen. Pensez-y!
27 Nous pouvons venir à l’église, et parler, et louer Dieu et tout, mais, oh, frère, quand nous Le verrons venir, dans nos coeurs, ce ne sera plus pareil! Nous pensons peut-être que nous accomplissons notre devoir religieux du fait que nous allons à l’église et que nous payons nos dîmes. Nous pensons peut-être que nous observons les lois de l’église et que nous récitons tous les credos, mais il suffit qu’une fois nous Le regardions, Lui, et tout est changé, du tout au tout. Oui, ça, c’est sûr.
28 Ce grand homme, saint Jean, un si grand homme, la Bible dit, dans Apocalypse 1.7, qu’il “est tombé comme un homme mort”. Après trois ans et demi de communion fraternelle avec Christ, il a été l’un de ceux qui ont écrit les Épîtres, il avait écrit à Son sujet, il avait mangé à la même table que Lui, il avait dormi sur le même lit que Lui, et il avait fraternisé avec Lui partout où Il était allé, mais là, quand il s’est retourné pour Le Voir, il n’y avait plus de vie en lui. Il est tombé comme un homme mort, sur le sol, ou, par terre. Bien.
29 Nous voyons Ésaïe, dans Ésaïe 6.5, comme nous venons de le lire, ce grand et puissant prophète, il est l’un des plus grands prophètes de la Bible. Il y a soixante-six Livres dans la Bible; il y a soixante-six chapitres dans Ésaïe. Ésaïe commence à la Genèse, le milieu d’Ésaïe présente le Nouveau Testament, la fin d’Ésaïe présente le Millénium; exactement, la Genèse, le Nouveau Testament et l’Apocalypse. C’est parfait! Ésaïe a été l’un des prophètes majeurs. Mais un jour – il s’était reposé sur Ozias le grand roi, Ozias lui avait été ôté, et il était déprimé. C’était un bien brave homme, c’était un homme juste et bon, puisque ce roi juste (un bon roi) l’avait reconnu comme un homme saint et l’avait gardé dans son temple.
30 Ésaïe avait des visions. Il était prophète. Ésaïe prêchait la Parole. Il était ministre. Ésaïe était un homme saint. Mais un jour, dans le temple, il est tombé en extase et il a vu la Gloire de Dieu. Il a vu les Anges qui avaient des ailes dont Ils se couvraient la face, des ailes dont Ils se couvraient les pieds, et des ailes dont Ils se servaient pour voler, Ils criaient: “Saint, saint, saint est le Seigneur Dieu, le Tout-Puissant!”
31 Ce prophète s’est rendu compte qu’il n’était rien. Il a dit: “Malheur à moi, car je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impures.” Un prophète, un des plus puissants prophètes de la Bible, l’un d’entre eux. “Je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impures, et j’habite au milieu d’un peuple dont les lèvres sont impures. Malheur à moi, car je vois la Gloire de Dieu.”
32 Et il a dit que, lorsque cet Ange a crié, “les poteaux du temple ont été ébranlés”. Frère, ça vous fera… Ce ne sera pas seulement les poteaux du temple qui seront ébranlés, mais les cieux et la terre tout entiers seront ébranlés quand Il reviendra. Les montagnes s’enfuiront et la mer disparaîtra, avec ces cris: “Cachez-nous devant la face de Celui qui est assis sur le Trône.” Ce sera un temps terrible. Je te le dis, mon ami pécheur, tu ferais mieux de t’examiner. C’est vrai.
33 Alors, Ésaïe a dit: “Malheur à moi, je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impures, et j’habite au milieu d’un peuple impur. Et je, ces gens ont les lèvres impures.”
34 Maintenant souvenez-vous: si des hommes d’une telle sainteté ont reconnu qu’ils étaient “pécheurs”, dans la Présence de Dieu, que feront le pécheur et l’impie en ce Jour-là? Que feront les gens qui ont assisté à ces réunions? Que feront les gens qui ont vu la Puissance de Dieu, qui ont entendu le compte à rebours de la Parole, qui ont vu Dieu Se manifester, et (sans l’ombre d’un doute) toutes les Écritures accomplies, mais qui essaient, malgré tout, d’aller au Ciel sans être nés de nouveau et sans avoir reçu le Saint-Esprit? La Bible dit: “Si le juste se sauve avec peine, que deviendront le pécheur et l’impie?” Dans quelle situation allons-nous nous trouver, si nous voyons Dieu Se dévoiler sous nos yeux, et que nous voyons la Gloire de Dieu exactement comme ces hommes-là L’ont vue – et si des hommes de cette trempe-là ont poussé des cris, des prophètes et des sages sur lesquels se fonde la Parole? Si eux ont poussé des cris, sont tombés à la renverse et se sont écriés: “Je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impies, impureté”, ça va se passer comment, alors, pour l’homme qui ne veut même pas confesser ses péchés? Ça va se passer comment, pour l’ado qui ne veut pas confesser ses péchés à lui, ou ses péchés à elle? Ça va se passer comment, pour l’homme au coeur dur, qui croit en savoir plus long sur la création de Dieu que Dieu Lui-même? Qu’arrivera-t-il à l’homme qui a passé toute sa vie à essayer de démontrer la fausseté de la Bible? Ce gars-là, que deviendra-t-il? Pensez-y!
35 Ceci, c’est de l’évangélisation. C’est le temps où il faut ébranler les gens. C’est le temps dont Dieu a parlé, disant qu’il viendrait un temps, qu’une fois Il avait ébranlé le mont Sinaï, mais qu’il y aurait de nouveau un ébranlement, où Il “ébranlerait non seulement le mont Sinaï, mais Il ébranlerait tout ce qui peut être ébranlé”. Mais, avez-vous remarqué le reste de ce passage de l’Écriture? “Mais nous recevons un Royaume inébranlable!” Alléluia! Tout ce qui peut être ébranlé sera ébranlé. Les cieux seront ébranlés. La terre sera ébranlée. “Les cieux et la terre passeront, mais cette Parole ne passera jamais. Car sur ce roc Je bâtirai Mon Église, et les portes du séjour des morts ne prévaudront jamais contre Elle.” Tout ce qui peut être ébranlé sera ébranlé. Mais nous recevons un Royaume, qui est la Parole de Dieu Lui-même, et Dieu est Sa Parole. Il ne S’ébranle pas Lui-même. Amen! Oh! la la! “Mais nous recevons un Royaume inébranlable”, il ne peut pas être ébranlé, a dit Paul, l’écrivain Hébreu.
36 Une personne pareille, et un homme pareil, en un moment pareil, et ce qu’ils ont ressenti! Et nous aussi, nous avons nous-mêmes vu la Gloire de Dieu, comme ces hommes-là L’ont vue. Certainement. Nous L’avons vue. Nous avons vu la Gloire de Dieu comme Abraham L’a vue. Nous avons vu la Gloire de Dieu comme Moïse L’a vue: la même Colonne de Feu, la même Puissance de Dieu, le même Christ dé-…qui Se révèle, qui montre ce qu’Il est, qui tient Sa Parole, en ce dernier jour. Alors, comment pouvons-nous venir en ce lieu, et marcher, prendre Cela autant à la légère? Comment pouvons-nous marcher comme ça, rester attachés à nos credos et à nos dénominations, et ne pas accepter la Parole de Dieu? Ça va se passer comment, pour nous, en ce Jour-là? Il va nous arriver quoi, à nous, après que nous avons vu la Gloire de Dieu?
37 Certains se tiennent à l’écart et se moquent de Cela, certains En rient, certains appellent Cela du fanatisme, certains appellent Cela de la télépathie mentale, certains appellent Cela Béelzébul, certains appellent Cela telle ou telle chose. Comme dit le vieux proverbe: “Les insensés marchent avec des souliers cloutés là où les Anges craignent de poser les pieds.” C’est vrai. “L’insensé dit en son coeur: ‘Il n’y a point de Dieu.’” Après avoir vu Dieu manifesté si parfaitement par Sa propre Parole (pas par un credo, mais par Sa Parole), il piétine Cela et s’En moque: c’est un insensé. En effet, c’est, Dieu est la Parole, et Dieu S’est manifesté clairement devant lui – c’est un “insensé”, dit la Bible. Ça va se passer comment pour lui, quand il devra se présenter là-bas? Ce sera–ce sera terrible pour cet homme-là, en ce Jour-là: l’impie.
38 Les pécheurs repentis, par contre, eux ils n’ont aucune crainte. Oh non. Un pécheur qui se repent, il sait qu’il y a un Sacrifice sanglant qui l’attend, pour prendre sa place. C’est ce qui m’apporte la consolation. J’ai vu la Gloire de Dieu. J’ai senti Sa puissance. Je sais reconnaître Sa main, quand elle me touche. Je sais reconnaître Son châtiment, quand il me frappe. Je sais qu’Il est Dieu. Et je sais que je suis perdu, mais Quelqu’un est là pour moi. Amen. Quelqu’un est là, et Il dit: “Père, charge-Moi de toute son iniquité, parce qu’il a pris position pour Moi là-bas sur terre.” Alléluia! Alors, avec assurance, je m’approche du Trône de Dieu, avec dans mon coeur la grâce, qui me fait savoir que ce n’est pas par mes bonnes oeuvres, mais c’est par Sa miséricorde que je suis sauvé. Ce n’est pas ce que j’ai pu faire, ce à quoi j’ai pu adhérer, ce que j’ai pu dire; mais c’est par Sa grâce qu’Il m’a sauvé.
39 Ce n’est pas étonnant que le poète qui a saisi ça se soit écrié: “Grâce étonnante, qu’il est doux le son qui a sauvé un misérable comme moi. J’étais perdu, mais maintenant j’ai été retrouvé; aveugle, mais maintenant je vois.”
40 Comment est-ce que moi, je pourrais un jour aller au Ciel? Comment est-ce que vous, vous pourriez aller au Ciel? Nous ne le pouvons pas, nous, et il n’y a aucun moyen pour nous d’y aller. Mais il y a Quelqu’un qui a frayé le chemin. Et Il est le Chemin. Et comment arrivons-nous jusqu’à Lui? Nous avons tous été baptisés dans un seul Esprit, Son Esprit à Lui, pour former un seul Corps, qui s’élèvera, comme en orbite. Nous quitterons la terre, comme des astronautes de ce dernier jour, avec la foi de Dieu. Amen. Bien sûr. Les pécheurs repentis n’ont pas à s’inquiéter. Quelqu’un est là, à leur place.
41 Oh, donc, après que nous sommes entrés dans Sa Présence, maintenant, et que nous reconnaissons que nous avons été dans Sa Présence, car nous L’avons vu faire les choses qu’Il faisait quand Il était ici sur terre. Comment reconnaissez-vous… Comment reconnaissez-vous la vigne que vous regardez? Parce qu’elle en porte le fruit. Comment reconnaissez-vous l’église que vous fréquentez? Par le fruit qu’elle porte. Jésus a dit: “Celui qui croit en Moi fera, lui aussi, les oeuvres que Je fais. Voici les signes qui accompagneront ceux qui auront cru.”
42 Alors, nous voyons bien qu’Il ne nous a jamais destinés à aller établir des dénominations. Il ne nous a jamais destinés à aller établir des credos. Au contraire, Il nous a mis en garde contre de telles choses. “Car quiconque En retranchera quoi que ce soit ou Y ajoutera quoi que ce soit, il lui sera retranché sa part du Livre de Vie.” Voyez?
43 Donc, nous n’avons pas été destinés à faire quoi que ce soit d’autre que de nous en tenir à cette Parole. Et si un homme a été envoyé par Dieu, il s’en tiendra à la Parole, parce que Dieu ne peut envoyer que par Sa Parole. Voyez? Voyez, Il doit s’en tenir à Sa Parole. Alors, quand nous entrons dans Sa Présence, quand un homme entre une fois dans la Présence de Dieu, il est changé pour toujours – si en lui un changement est possible. En effet, certaines personnes peuvent entrer dans la Présence de Dieu et n’Y prêter aucune attention. Lui, il n’était pas destiné à la Vie. Mais s’il a été prédestiné par Dieu, dès que le premier contact se fait, il le reconnaît. Un feu se déclenche.
44 Regardez cette petite prostituée là-bas, en Samarie, ce jour-là, cette femme. Elle était mal en point mentalement et physiquement. Nous savons ça. Mais aussitôt qu’elle a vu s’accomplir ce signe du Messie, elle a dit: “Nous savons que le Messie viendra faire ces choses. Tu dois être Son prophète.”
Il a dit: “Je suis le Messie, dont il a été écrit qu’Il viendrait.”
45 Elle l’a reconnu. Elle n’a plus posé une seule question. Elle s’est vite mise en route, elle avait une responsabilité, elle savait que si elle avait découvert cela et qu’elle était entrée dans la Présence de Dieu, elle avait le devoir d’en parler à quelqu’un d’autre. Alléluia! C’est vrai. Tout homme qui entre dans la Présence de Dieu a cette responsabilité devant Dieu, à partir de cette minute-là, il doit en parler à quelqu’un d’autre. Regardez Abraham, regardez Moïse, regardez Pierre, regardez Paul. Aussitôt qu’ils sont entrés dans la Présence de Dieu, ils ont reconnu qu’ils étaient “pécheurs”, et ils ont scellé leur témoignage en donnant leur vie. Regardez cette petite femme, elle ne tenait plus en place, elle est allée dans la ville et elle a dit aux hommes: “Venez voir l’Homme qui m’a dit ce que j’ai fait. Ne serait-ce point le Messie?” Ils n’ont pas pu nier Cela, parce que C’était l’Écriture. Certainement. Oui, on se doit de le faire: un homme, là, on a la responsabilité d’en parler aux autres, comme Moïse l’a fait, comme Pierre l’a fait, comme Paul l’a fait. Après ces choses, – vous avez vu ce qu’il En est, et vous êtes entrés dans Sa Présence, – vous avez cette responsabilité, le Message doit être transmis à quelqu’un d’autre. Vous ne pouvez vraiment pas garder le silence Là-dessus. Vous devez L’apporter à quelqu’un d’autre.
46 Je me rappelle une soeur âgée qui était ici, dans le temps, la mère de Frère Graham Snelling, elle s’asseyait ici, à l’église, et elle chantait: “Je viens de traverser! Je cours, je cours, je cours, je viens de traverser, et je ne tiens plus en place.” Elle venait de découvrir quelque chose. Je suis allé à une petite église de gens de couleur ici, à Louisville, et ils étaient tous debout, ils chantaient: “Je monte le Chemin du Roi, je viens de le trouver, et je me suis engagé sur ce Chemin!”
47 Il y a quelque chose qui fait que, quand vous trouvez Christ, vous ne pouvez plus vous taire. Jusqu’à la fin de vos jours, vous êtes une personne changée. En effet, lorsque la vie et la Vie se rencontrent, cela produit une Lumière éclatante. C’est vrai. Lorsque l’ampoule est connectée avec le fil, si l’ampoule est en bon état, elle va forcément répandre de la lumière; lorsque le courant et l’ampoule s’unissent, tout ce qu’elle peut faire, c’est diffuser la lumière. Elle ne peut pas faire autrement. De même, quand un homme ou une femme ont été prédestinés à la Vie Éternelle, et qu’ils voient le courant de Dieu passer dans l’ampoule – cette ampoule répandra de la Lumière partout où elle le pourra. Vous n’êtes peut-être qu’une ampoule de dix watts tout au plus, mais vous allez diffuser toute la Lumière que vous avez. Si vous n’êtes pas une cinq cents watts, diffusez la Lumière d’une dix watts. Répandez votre Lumière! “Que votre lumière luise ainsi devant les hommes, afin qu’ils voient vos bonnes oeuvres, et qu’ils glorifient le Père, qui est dans les Cieux.” Oui monsieur.
48 Lorsqu’un homme entre en contact avec Dieu, il reconnaît qu’il ne “vaut rien”. Comment un homme peut-il marcher comme ça, en se vantant de son importance et de tout ce qu’il a pu faire, alors qu’il n’est rien? Il n’est rien au départ. Un jour, à Memphis, dans le Tennessee, ou à… Je ne pense pas que c’était à Memphis. C’était à l’un des endroits, là-bas. J’étais avec Frère Davis, je faisais des réunions de–de réveil. C’était peut-être à Memphis. Et nous étions, nous sommes allés dans un stade, et ils avaient là, – ce n’était pas un stade, c’était un genre de musée d’art, – et ils avaient là les–les grandes statues qu’ils avaient acquises, provenant de différentes régions de la terre, représentant Hercule et différentes choses, et ce que de grands artistes avaient peint. Et puis, ils présentaient là l’analyse d’un homme qui pesait cent cinquante livres [70 kg]. Savez-vous quoi, combien il vaut? Quatre-vingt-quatre cents. C’est tout ce qu’il est. Quatre-vingt-quatre cents, c’est la valeur de tous–tous les éléments chimiques dont il est composé. Il contient juste assez de lait de chaux pour asperger un nid de poule, et il contient assez, un tout petit peu de calcium, un peu de potasse. Le tout se vendrait quatre-vingt-quatre cents. Mais nous, nous prenons bien soin de ces quatre-vingt-quatre cents, et nous les dorlotons.
49 Il y avait deux jeunes hommes qui se trouvaient là, et l’un a regardé l’autre, il a dit: “Jim, on ne vaut pas grand-chose, hein?”
Il a dit: “Non, vraiment pas, Jean.”
50 J’ai dit: “Mais, un instant, les gars, vous avez en vous une âme qui vaut dix mille mondes, qui a été, qui peut être rachetée par la puissance de Dieu, il suffit de l’accepter.”
51 L’homme, quand il voit ces choses, il a la responsabilité d’en parler à d’autres. Je l’ai vu quand j’étais encore tout jeune. J’y ai consacré toute ma vie. Mon seul regret, c’est que je n’aie qu’une seule vie, je souhaiterais en avoir dix mille. Même si j’avais une Éternité, je voudrais toujours en parler aux gens, parce que c’est la chose la plus glorieuse que j’aie jamais trouvée. Si vous lisez dans Ézéchiel 33, au chapitre 33 d’Ézéchiel, une sentinelle avait été placée sur une tour, et cette sentinelle avait toute la ville sous sa responsabilité. Amen. Maintenant, réveillez-vous, réveillez votre conscience spirituelle un instant, pendant que je m’arrête sur ce passage de l’Écriture. Cette sentinelle devait être un homme formé à ça. Il fallait qu’il sache ce qu’il fait, car, à quelque distance qu’ils soient, dès qu’ils se pointaient, que l’ennemi se pointait, il pouvait le détecter. Il pouvait reconnaître leur marche, il pouvait reconnaître leur couleur, il pouvait reconnaître leurs hommes de troupe. Aussi loin que les yeux humains puissent voir, lui, il voyait tout ça. Et il était au-dessus de tous les autres, parce qu’il avait été formé pour reconnaître l’ennemi. Et Dieu le rendait responsable du sort de toute la ville. “Sentinelle, que dis-tu de la nuit?” Alléluia!
52 C’est comme ça que sont les soldats de Dieu aujourd’hui. Ils sont formés dans la Parole. Quand surgit quelque chose qui présente une touche de raffinement, qui présente autre chose que l’Écriture, ils avertissent leur assemblée. Tout ce qui n’est pas la Bible, tout ce qui n’est pas–qui n’est pas de Dieu, comme d’avoir des soupers où on sert de la soupe, des soirées dansantes, et tout le reste, pour payer les pasteurs. Ces pratiques-là sont mauvaises. Jouer au loto et avoir des soirées de cartes dans les églises, c’est mal! Et la vraie sentinelle sur la muraille, celui qui est déjà entré dans la Présence de Dieu… S’il n’est pas sur la muraille, s’il est seulement censé être sur la muraille, cette muraille-là n’est peut-être pas plus haute que le reste de l’assemblée. Mais s’il est la sentinelle qu’il faut, Dieu l’élève très haut, dans des sphères que les autres n’atteignent jamais. Mais il veille sur le troupeau, et Dieu exige ça de lui! L’homme de Dieu qui est dans la Présence de Dieu, et qui sait que Dieu est Dieu, qui sait que Dieu tient Sa Parole, et qui regarde Dieu Se manifester, faire Son devoir et tenir Sa Parole, alors, peu importe combien d’organisations ou de dénominations cherchent à démolir Cela, lui il reconnaît les hommes de troupe de l’ennemi. Amen. Il sait ce qu’il faut dire à l’assemblée – la vraie sentinelle.
53 Si nous avons confessé qu’Il existe, si nous avons été dans Sa Présence et que nous avons confessé nos péchés, ils sont effacés du livre de Son souvenir. Personne d’autre que Dieu ne peut faire ça. Bon, vous, vous pourriez me faire n’importe quoi, je vous pardonnerais, mais je m’en souviendrai. Si moi, je vous faisais quelque chose, vous me pardonneriez, mais vous vous en souviendrez. Mais Dieu, Lui, Il peut pardonner et oublier. Réfléchissez à ça: “ne s’en souvient même plus!” Amen. Ça, ça me fait du bien. Quand la chose ne revient même plus à la mémoire, ça, il n’y a que Dieu qui puisse le faire. Il n’y a que Dieu qui puisse faire ça. Il a dit qu’Il l’effacerait de Son livre de souvenir. Moi, je ne peux pas le faire, et vous, vous ne pouvez pas le faire, parce que nous n’avons que ces petits sens limités. Mais Lui, Il est le Dieu infini, Il peut carrément oublier que cette action-là a été commise. Amen.
54 Une jeune femme venait d’une église de campagne, et son père était un prédicateur à l’ancienne mode, de ceux qui poussaient des cris, ou, un membre de cette église. Donc, elle est allée s’installer en ville, et elle s’est mise à frayer avec les femmes de là-bas, et elle s’est mise à faire comme elles, et à suivre la mode. Un jour, elle a eu un peu honte de la visite de son père et sa mère, ou, de son père, plutôt, sa mère était morte. Donc, le brave vieux, tout ce qu’il faisait: le matin, il se levait, prenait son petit-déjeuner, et ensuite il prenait sa Bible et La lisait, et il pleurait, il priait, il poussait des cris de joie toute la journée, il courait de long en large dans la chambre, et elle, ça la mettait un peu mal à l’aise. Et donc–donc, à toute heure de la nuit, là, s’il prenait la Bible et se mettait à La lire, il se levait du lit, et criait à tue-tête: “Gloire à Dieu! Alléluia! Oh, gloire à Dieu!” Il passait la moitié de la nuit à taper du pied et à pousser des cris.
55 Donc, un jour, elle allait recevoir les membres de son église pour un petit thé, – le genre de réception qu’ils donnent tout le temps, vous savez, – alors elle se demandait ce qu’elle allait bien pouvoir faire de son père. Après tout, c’était son père. Elle décide donc de le faire monter au grenier, elle lui dit: “Papa, tu n’as pas envie de te retrouver au milieu de toutes ces femmes, n’est-ce pas?”
Il a dit: “Non, je ne pense pas en avoir envie.”
56 Elle a dit: “Eh bien, on va recevoir les femmes de l’église ici, aujourd’hui, on va faire une petite réunion, une petite réunion de prière. Alors, voici ce que je–je te propose, papa: pourquoi ne pas monter au grenier?”
Il a dit: “Je peux bien faire ça, je pense.”
57 Alors elle a dit: “Lis ce beau livre.” Et elle lui a donné une géographie. Elle lui a enlevé sa Bible, pour qu’il reste tranquille. Elle savait bien que s’il lisait la Bible, il se mettrait à faire beaucoup de bruit, là-haut. Alors, il était juste au-dessus d’elles, vous savez, de la pièce où avait lieu leur réception. Donc, elle lui a donné cette géographie, en disant: “C’est vraiment bien. Tu devrais lire ça, papa, parce que ça raconte toute la vérité sur le monde.”
Eh bien, il a dit: “Je vais lire ça avec plaisir.”
58 Alors, elle a dit: “Maintenant monte là-haut et reste bien tranquille jusqu’à ce que les femmes partent, et ensuite je…tu pourras redescendre, et après tu pourras faire tout ce que tu veux.” Il a accepté. Il monte donc et s’assied là-haut.
59 Et pendant leur thé, vous savez, elles étaient toutes là à jacasser au sujet d’un tel, et vous savez comment ça se passe, elles s’amusaient bien. Et à peu près à ce moment-là, il y a eu un déchaînement incroyable, là-haut, de cris et de sauts, et les morceaux de plâtre qui tombaient. Le brave vieux courait à toute vitesse, de long en large dans le grenier, il sautillait, en criant à tue-tête: “Gloire à Dieu! Gloire à Dieu!” Les femmes ne savaient pas ce qui se passait là-haut, ce qu’il y avait en haut. Alors, le voilà qui descend les escaliers, il arrive à toute vitesse.
Elle a dit: “Papa, c’est une géographie que je t’ai donnée à lire.”
60 Il a dit: “Oui, je sais. Tu sais,” il a dit, “j’ai lu dans cette géographie, ici, qu’il y a des endroits dans la mer où il n’y a pas de fond.” Et, il a dit: “Hier, j’ai lu dans la Bible, là, Il a dit qu’Il a mis mes péchés dans la ‘mer de l’oubli’. Gloire à Dieu!…?…” Il a dit: “Ils s’enfoncent toujours. Ils ne s’arrêtent jamais, ils s’enfoncent toujours plus.” C’est vrai. Et il poussait des cris de joie à ce sujet. Eh bien, c’est vrai.
61 Dieu met nos péchés dans la mer de l’oubli, Il les efface, et c’est comme si ce n’était jamais arrivé. Oh! la la! Alors nous nous tenons là, par la grâce de Dieu, par Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur, purs et saints, aussi saints que Lui était saint, parce qu’Il ne me voit pas, quand je me présente là, Il voit Son propre Fils. La seule manière pour Lui de voir… Il ne peut pas me voir, parce que je suis en Son Fils. Et Il ne voit que Son Fils. N’est-ce pas merveilleux? Nous n’avons plus à penser aux péchés, tout est disparu, c’est sous le Sang. Oui monsieur. Nous n’avons plus à nous tracasser à ce sujet, c’est complètement sorti, sorti de la mémoire de Dieu. Il ne s’en souvient même plus.
62 Ésaïe, ce prophète puissant, quand il a confessé ses péchés, il a dit: “Malheur à moi, car je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impures.” Un prophète! “Je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impures, et mon assemblée est impure.” Voyez? “Les gens à qui je prêche, ils sont impurs. Je suis impur. Et malheur à moi. Mais voici un groupe d’Anges descendus de la Gloire de Dieu, qui repoussent les–les nuages, je regarde là-haut et je vois les pans de Sa robe qui remplissent le Ciel tout entier. Et j’observe ces Anges, qui n’ont jamais su ce qu’est le péché. Ils n’ont jamais même su ce qu’est le péché, et là, dans la Présence de Dieu, de deux ailes ils se couvrent la face, de deux ailes ils se couvrent les pieds, et ils ont deux ailes dont ils se servent pour voler, et ils crient jour et nuit: ‘Saint, saint, saint est le Seigneur Dieu.’” Fiou. Il y a de quoi sentir son manque de sainteté, n’est-ce pas? Alors, qu’est-ce qu’il a fait? Il a dit: “Malheur à moi.”
63 Et quand il a confessé ses péchés et qu’il a dit: “Malheur à moi”, l’Ange est allé prendre les pincettes, Il a pris un charbon ardent, ce qui représentait le Saint-Esprit et le Feu, Il est allé en toucher les lèvres du prophète, et Il a dit: “Je t’ai purifié.” Alors les ailes, en battant l’air, comme ça, ont repoussé les rideaux du temps, et il a entendu Dieu dire: “Qui marchera pour nous?”
64 Mais, après qu’il a découvert qu’il y avait un moyen d’éliminer le péché – Dieu désirait que quelqu’un marche pour Lui, alors il a dit: “Me voici, envoie-moi.” Il avait été dans la Présence de Dieu, il avait confessé ses péchés, il avait été purifié de ses péchés, et il était prêt à servir. Amen.
65 Comme le poète qui a saisi ça l’a exprimé: “Des millions se meurent dans le péché et la honte, entends leurs cris tristes et amers. Dépêche-toi, mon frère, va vite à leur secours; réponds-Lui sans tarder: ‘Maître, me voici.’”
66 Quand je pense à l’Afrique, à l’Inde et partout dans le monde – des millions de païens crient et implorent la miséricorde, mais qui ira? Pas leur remettre un tract, mais leur apporter Jésus-Christ. Quelqu’un qui est dans Sa Présence, comme Moïse, qui pourra descendre là-bas leur montrer ce qu’est une vraie délivrance. Pas les faire adhérer à une église, ou leur faire serrer la main à quelqu’un et adopter un credo, mais apporter la délivrance à leur âme; un homme saint et bon. Oui, Ésaïe a confessé ses péchés, et il a été purifié.
67 Après que Jacob avait lutté toute la nuit, là en train de confesser ses péchés, vous vous rappelez le lieu où il se trouvait? Il a été appelé Peniel, P-e-n-i-t-e-l, Peniel. Le mot Peniel, en hébreu, signifie “la face du Dieu Tout-Puissant”. Jacob, le petit escroc, avait fui, toute…son nom était Jacob, ce qui signifie “supplantateur”, c’est-à-dire trompeur; il avait fui, toute sa vie, loin de Dieu, mais après être entré une fois dans la Présence de Dieu, à Peniel, devant la face de Dieu, il s’est saisi de Dieu et a refusé de Le laisser aller. Ô Dieu, nous avons besoin de plus de Jacob. Il a tenu bon, devant la face de Dieu, dans la Présence de Dieu, il est resté là jusqu’au lever du soleil. Dieu a dit: “Laisse-Moi aller, car le soleil se lève.” Et il est resté là, devant la face de Dieu, jusqu’au lever du soleil, mais il est reparti justifié et sauvé. Ah.
68 Oh, c’était vraiment fantastique, donc, de savoir qu’il avait lutté jusqu’au bout. En effet, il avait eu des signes venus de Dieu, il avait eu des songes au sujet de Dieu, mais cette fois-là, il avait été devant la face de Dieu, dans la Présence de Dieu. Pensez-y, mes amis. Maintenant, nous allons faire vite. Dans la Présence de Dieu, un homme est changé. Jacob a été changé. Il pouvait maintenant marcher avec Dieu. Oui, il était un homme différent de celui qu’il était lorsqu’il est parti là-bas. Le combat était maintenant terminé. Oui monsieur. Et il s’est mis à bâtir un autel. Il n’avait pas l’habitude de bâtir des autels, vous savez. Mais je vous assure que, quand on entre dans la Présence de Dieu, on a envie de bâtir un autel quelque part. On a envie de trouver un endroit où on pourra prier. Il a bâti un autel. Il avait été purifié, Dieu avait gagné.
69 Et Jacob a été changé, de Jacob, “supplantateur”, en Israël, “un prince puissant devant Dieu”. C’est ce qui est arrivé à Jacob. Le supplantateur, le trompeur, l’injuste, l’impie, le trompeur, qui avait trompé son frère, qui avait, pour ainsi dire, volé à son frère le droit d’aînesse, il l’avait obtenu par un moyen déloyal – quel trompeur. Il a trompé son beau-père. Il a mis des branches de peuplier, ce qui a produit des veaux tachetés; quand les vaches portantes venaient là, regardaient ça, et les brebis…elles voyaient ces branches tachetées et mettaient bas des petits tachetés, qui avaient des taches de naissance à cause de ça. Trompeur, il a trompé son propre beau-père. Il a trompé sa mère, trompé son père, trompé son frère, mais après être entré une fois dans… C’était un escroc. Il était en fuite, partout où il allait, il était toujours en fuite devant Dieu, il était en fuite devant son frère. Mais quand il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, il a reconnu qu’il était un pécheur. Qu’est-ce qu’il a fait? Qu’est-ce qu’il a fait? Il a vu la possibilité qui s’offrait à lui. Il s’est trouvé en présence de quelque chose auquel il n’avait même jamais pensé auparavant, et il resté là jusqu’à ce que tous ses péchés aient disparu. Oh! la la! Dieu l’a amené en Sa propre Présence.
70 Dieu trouve un moyen d’amener les hommes en leur Présence, après quoi ils prennent leur décision. Certains fuient loin de Lui, certains accourent vers Lui. S’ils ont été prédestinés à la Vie, ils Y croient, ils s’Y accrochent. Sinon, ils cherchent à s’éloigner, et ils disent: “Il n’y a rien de vrai Là-dedans.” Voyez? Et ça, c’est l’homme qui est perdu. “L’homme qui confesse son péché recevra son pardon. Si vous cachez votre péché, vous ne prospérerez point.” Non.
71 Donc Jacob, lorsqu’il, vous savez, le lendemain, il a rencontré Ésaü, son frère. Là il n’avait plus besoin de son aide. Il n’avait plus besoin de ses armées. Son occupation maintenant, c’était de bâtir des autels. Il ne craignait plus Ésaü.
72 Psaume 16.8 – David a dit: “Je garde l’Éternel sous mes yeux.” C’est une bonne chose à faire. Psaume 16.8: “Je garde l’Éternel sous mes yeux.” Ce, afin qu’il ne soit pas dans la confusion. Il désirait être conscient de Sa Présence, c’est pourquoi David a dit: “Je garde constamment l’Éternel devant moi. En effet, moi, David, je garde l’Éternel devant moi, afin d’être toujours conscient–conscient de la Présence de Dieu.” N’est-ce pas que ce serait une leçon valable pour chacun de nous, ce soir? Garder l’Éternel devant nous, afin d’être conscients de Sa Présence. Faites-Le passer avant tout. Pourquoi? Faites-Le passer avant tout, devant vous. Pourquoi? Alors vous ne pécherez pas, quand vous êtes conscients que vous êtes constamment dans la Présence de Dieu. Quand vous êtes conscients que Dieu est présent, vous surveillez ce que vous dites.
73 L’homme, quand il pense que Dieu est absent, il jure, il convoite les femmes, il fait…il vole, triche, ment. Il se permet n’importe quoi, quand il pense que Dieu ne le voit pas. Mais faites-le entrer dans la Présence de Dieu: il arrête tout de suite. Voyez? Et David a dit: “Je mets l’Éternel constamment devant moi.” C’est une bonne chose. Ce n’est pas étonnant que Dieu ait déclaré qu’il était un homme selon Son coeur. L’homme se permet tout, quand il pense que Dieu n’est pas près. Mais quand il est conscient que Dieu est près – avez-vous déjà remarqué le pécheur? Lorsqu’une personne sainte s’approche, il arrête de jurer, s’il a un tant soit peu de respect. Voyez? Il ne fait pas les plaisanteries grossières qu’il aurait faites. Voyez? Voyez, il s’abstient, parce qu’il sait qu’il est dans la Présence de Dieu, puisque Dieu habite dans le tabernacle de Son peuple. Voyez?
74 David, après avoir fait ça, il a dit: “Mon coeur sera dans la joie.” J’aimerais que vous le lisiez, le Psaume 16. “Mon coeur sera dans la joie, et mon corps repose en sécurité.” Pourquoi? Mon coeur sera dans la joie, parce que j’ai toujours Dieu sous mes yeux. “Et mon corps repose en sécurité; si je meurs, je serai ressuscité. Car Il ne permettra pas que Son Saint voie la corruption, et Il n’abandonnera pas Son âme dans le séjour des morts.” Voyez? Quand David a mis Dieu devant lui, et qu’il était conscient qu’il était constamment dans la Présence de Dieu. “Cherchez premièrement le Royaume de Dieu.”
75 Maintenant écoutez, église, je vous aime. Et je veux que vous m’écoutiez, là. Comme Frère McCullough avait coutume de dire: là je vais dire quelque chose. Mettez toujours le Seigneur devant vous, et ne faites rien que vous ne feriez pas en Sa Présence, parce qu’Il veille sur vous. Voyez? Le Seigneur campe autour de ceux qui Le craignent. Il ne… Il reste là, tout près de vous. Et Il sait tout ce que vous faites, et vous devez reconnaître cela. Quand vous êtes sur le point de dire un mensonge, ne le dites pas, souvenez-vous, Dieu vous écoute. Si vous êtes sur le point de faire une petite tricherie, ne la faites pas, Dieu vous regarde. Si vous êtes sur le point de prendre Son Nom en vain, ne le faites pas, Dieu vous écoute. Si vous êtes sur le point de fumer une cigarette, Il vous observe. Voyez? Son… Il y a un chant que nous avions l’habitude de chanter: “Tout le long du chemin vers la véritable demeure de l’âme, il y a un oeil qui te surveille; à chacun de tes pas, ce grand oeil est éveillé, il y a un oeil qui te surveille.” Souvenez-vous, faites comme David, mettez le Seigneur constamment devant vous. Alors votre coeur sera dans la joie et votre chair reposera avec espérance, car Il l’a promis. Oui monsieur. Il savait qu’il ressusciterait, parce que Dieu l’avait promis. Très bien.
76 Quand on entre dans Sa Présence, on est changé, on n’est plus jamais le même. Regardez, tout au long des âges, les hommes, de tous les milieux. Regardez Abraham. Vous dites: “Eh bien, une vie changée, ça, ce n’est que pour les ministres.” Oh non. Une vie changée, c’est pour tout le monde. Voyez?
77 Abraham, là, était fermier, mais quand il a entendu la Voix de Dieu lui parler, et qu’il a eu cette vision, à partir de ce moment-là il était un homme changé. Il s’est séparé de sa parenté, de tous ses camarades, et il a marché comme un pèlerin et un étranger, dans un pays étranger, jusqu’à la fin de sa vie, habitant sous des tentes, parce qu’il confessait ouvertement qu’il cherchait la cité dont Dieu était l’Architecte et le Constructeur. Il savait qu’il y avait un Dieu, et qu’il y avait une cité quelque part, dont Dieu était l’Architecte et le Constructeur. C’est ce que nous dit Hébreux 11, qu’il cherchait la cité dont Dieu était l’Architecte et le Constructeur. C’était un homme changé, lui qui n’était pourtant qu’un simple fermier. Mais il a eu une vision et il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, et à partir de ce moment-là il était un homme changé.
78 Moïse, lui, était berger, mais quand il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, il a été un homme changé. Il avait été un lâche, il avait fui Pharaon, pourtant il avait toute une armée derrière lui. Mais voilà qu’avec un bâton à la main, il est retourné là-bas et a pris le contrôle de tout le pays. Voyez? Pourquoi? Il était entré dans la Présence de Dieu. Il était un homme changé – un berger.
79 Pierre, un pêcheur, qui ne savait rien de la pêche…ou, qui ne savait rien de Dieu – attraper des poissons, c’était probablement tout ce qu’il savait faire. Mais quand il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, et qu’il a vu le grand Créateur qui a pu créer des poissons, quand Il lui avait dit de jeter les filets pour pêcher. Il n’y avait pas de poissons à cet endroit, il venait de retirer ses filets. Mais il Lui a dit: “Sur Ta Parole, Seigneur. Je crois que Tu es le Fils de Dieu, et si Tu jettes…si je jette le filet, Tu m’as dit de le faire; sur Ta Parole, parce que Toi et Ta Parole, c’est la même chose, je jette le filet.” Et quand il s’est mis à tirer, il a dit: “Retire-Toi, Seigneur, je suis un homme pécheur.” Voyez, un pêcheur – Pierre, après avoir rencontré Christ, il n’a plus jamais été le même. Après, il était tellement fidèle à Dieu que les clés du Royaume lui ont été données. Oui monsieur.
80 Paul, un pharisien prétentieux, instruit et formé dans toute la religion de…du monde d’alors, un des érudits les plus reconnus du pays. Mais, quand il s’est trouvé en présence de cette Colonne de Feu, un jour, du Dieu qu’il avait persécuté par ignorance. C’était un pharisien, il ne croyait pas que Dieu était un Homme. Il savait que Dieu était la Colonne de Feu: Elle avait conduit Son peuple hors d’Égypte, Elle avait été avec eux depuis le début. Mais, quand il a vu cette Colonne de Feu, il est tombé sur sa face. Et il a entendu une Voix qui a dit: “Saul, pourquoi Me persécutes-tu?”
Il a dit: “Qui es-Tu, Seigneur?”
81 Il a dit: “Je suis Jésus.” Il était un homme, celui qui a dit: “Comment avez-vous été baptisés?” Il avait été dans la Présence de Dieu. À partir de ce moment-là, il était un homme changé, il avait été dans la Présence de Dieu. Ça change un homme.
82 Charles G. Finney, un avocat, un grand avocat de Philadelphie, mais quand il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu, il a abandonné ses études de droit et il est devenu l’un des prédicateurs les plus puissants que ce pays ait jamais eus.

Vous connaissez son livre. J’ai son autobiographie. Il est allé prier. Il croyait être prédicateur. Il avait ce désir, il voulait prêcher, et il avait préparé quelques sermons qu’il essayait de prêcher. Un jour, il a quitté son cabinet pour aller prier, il est allé dans les bois. Il s’est agenouillé derrière un vieil arbre abattu par le vent, c’est là qu’il allait chaque après-midi. Très religieux, mais il ne croyait pas à Cela.
Deux femmes de l’église lui disaient toujours: “Monsieur Finney, nous prions pour que vous receviez le Saint-Esprit.”
Il disait: “Je L’ai, le Saint-Esprit.” Il disait: “Je suis prédicateur.”
83 Elles disaient: “Monsieur Finney, vous êtes un grand homme, et vous avez une très bonne maîtrise de la Parole, mais vous avez besoin du Saint-Esprit. Nous prions pour vous.” De gentilles petites femmes.
84 Donc, il a continué, continué comme ça. Donc, chaque jour, il allait derrière le cabinet où il travaillait avec son patron et tous ses collègues, il quittait son cabinet d’avocats, et il allait prier quelque part. Un jour qu’il était là-bas, en train de prier, il a entendu un craquement de branche. Il a pensé que c’était son patron qui venait, qui le cherchait. Il s’est relevé d’un bond. Il était en train de dire: “Seigneur Dieu, je crois en Toi.” Et il y a eu un craquement de branche, il… “Hem! Hem!”, il s’est relevé, il a dit, il a regardé autour de lui, pour voir ce qui avait produit ce craquement de branche. Et c’est à ce moment-là qu’il est entré dans la Présence de Dieu. Il a compris que ce craquement de branche, c’était dans un but. Il s’est tenu là, les larmes coulant sur ses joues. Il a dit: “Ces femmes ont peut-être raison. J’ai honte d’être vu en train de parler à mon Dieu, mais je considère comme un honneur d’être vu en train de parler à mon patron. Mon Seigneur ne vaut-Il pas bien plus que mon patron!” Il a dit: “Seigneur, pardonne-moi et remplis-moi du Saint-Esprit” – il s’est mis à crier à tue-tête et à pousser des cris de joie. Il était dans la Présence de Dieu. Il est vite rentré en ville, à son cabinet. Il s’est mis à crier si fort qu’il s’est retiré derrière la porte, il a dit: “Seigneur, je vais jeter un opprobre sur Toi. Cache-moi ici, jusqu’à ce que ça me passe.” Pourquoi? Il était entré dans la Présence de Dieu. C’était un homme changé. Les sermons qu’il avait l’habitude de prêcher, il prêchait ces mêmes sermons et des âmes s’avançaient à l’autel. Voyez, il avait été dans la Présence de Dieu.
85 Moody, un petit cordonnier, qui savait à peine son alphabet. C’est vrai. Sa grammaire laissait à désirer. Quelqu’un lui a dit, un jour: “Votre grammaire laisse vraiment à désirer, Monsieur Moody.”
Il a dit: “Mais je gagne des âmes avec.” Alors…
86 Un jour, dans les journaux, le rédacteur en chef allait écrire quelque chose dans le journal. Il est allé voir comment cet homme arrivait à captiver des foules, dans de telles conditions: une espèce de petit homme, chauve, et tout, la barbe qui descendait très bas, du genre bedonnant, c’était un homme qui ne payait vraiment pas de mine. Donc, ce journal lui a fait toute une critique, ça disait: “Je ne vois vraiment pas ce que qui que ce soit peut trouver d’intéressant chez Dwight Moody.” Ça disait: “Il est laid, sa voix est criarde, il a la barbe qui lui descend jusqu’à la taille, il est chauve comme une citrouille.” Et ça disait: “Comment est-il possible que quelqu’un aille là-bas, trouver quoi que ce soit d’intéressant chez Moody?”
87 Donc, l’organisateur des campagnes de Moody est tombé sur cet article, il a dit: “Regardez, Monsieur Moody, je vais vous lire ça.” Moody n’aurait pas été capable de le lire lui-même. Alors, il lui a dit: “Je vais vous lire cet éditorial.” Et c’est ce qu’il avait écrit.
88 Moody s’est contenté de hausser les épaules, il a dit: “Bien sûr que non – c’est Christ qu’ils viennent voir.” Un point c’est tout. Pourquoi? Il avait été dans la Présence de Dieu. Lui qui autrefois avait fabriqué des semelles de chaussures, qui allaient être usées par les gens, il chaussait maintenant les gens de l’Évangile de la préparation. Pourquoi? Il était dans la Présence de Dieu. C’est vrai.
89 Une petite femme, un jour, est entrée dans la Présence de Dieu, elle était aussi coupable qu’on peut l’être. En un instant, lorsqu’elle s’est rendu compte qu’elle était dans la Présence de Dieu, tous ses péchés ont été pardonnés et elle était aussi pure et aussi blanche qu’un lis. Oh! la la! Je pourrais nommer encore bien d’autres personnes, là, mais le temps ne le permettrait pas.
90 Mais je voudrais parler un peu de moi-même. Aurait-on pu trouver plus méprisable que moi? J’étais où? Issu d’une famille d’ivrognes, issu d’une famille de meurtriers, issu d’une famille de contrebandiers d’alcool. Et vous le savez, vous le savez tous, vous savez quel genre de réputation nous avions, ici. Les gens ne nous parlaient pas, dans la rue. J’allais en ville, je me mettais à parler à quelqu’un, personne ne voulait me parler à moins qu’il n’y ait personne autour. Ils me parlaient, et si quelqu’un d’autre arrivait, ils me plantaient là. Et je restais là, à pleurer: “Non, ce n’est pas vrai, ce n’est pas possible. C’est mal, ça.”
91 Mais un jour, je suis entré dans la Présence de Dieu. Il m’a changé, et a fait de moi un fils d’une autre espèce. Sa grâce m’a fait entrer dans Sa Présence. Jamais je n’ai eu envie d’En sortir. Ça fait maintenant trente et quelques années que j’Y suis. Je n’ai pas envie d’En sortir. J’ai l’assurance que j’Y serai toujours. La mort elle-même ne me séparera jamais de Sa Présence. Non. Je serai avec Lui pour toujours. Quand j’ai vu, pour la première fois, Sa Présence, j’ai crié comme Ésaïe: “Malheur à moi.” Alors Il a étendu Sa main de grâce sur moi. J’ai été une personne changée. Le petit renégat, qui autrefois sortait et faisait n’importe quoi, et tout, a été changé, et depuis ce moment-là j’ai été Son enfant. Depuis ce moment-là j’ai désiré consacrer toute ma vie à Son service; si seulement je pouvais avoir dix mille vies de plus à Lui consacrer. Celle-ci est maintenant passablement usée, cinquante-trois années se sont écoulées. Environ trente-trois d’entre elles, ou, trente-deux d’entre elles ont été vécues au service de l’Évangile. J’aimerais avoir encore mille ans à y consacrer. Pourquoi? Une fois que je suis entré dans Sa Présence et que je me suis rendu compte que Quelqu’un aimait celui qui n’était pas aimable, que Quelqu’un m’aimait, alors que personne d’autre ne m’aimait, que Quelqu’un se souciait de moi, alors que personne d’autre ne se souciait de moi. J’ai entouré Sa croix de mes bras, je l’ai serrée contre moi, et alors moi et Lui sommes devenus un. Et à partir de ce moment-là je L’ai aimé. Il a taché ma poitrine et mon coeur de Son Sang, en me touchant et en me pardonnant mes péchés, et ce soir, je suis heureux d’être l’un des Siens. Je désire ne jamais quitter ce lieu Céleste, bien que le tentateur ait souvent cherché à me convaincre; mais je suis en sûreté dans la tente de Dieu, Son amour et Sa grâce me rendent heureux, et je vis dans le choeur des alléluias. Oh! Ça réjouit mon coeur.
92 Je Le recommande à toutes les personnes abattues. Je vous Le recommande, à vous qui n’avez pas d’espérance. Vous qui n’avez jamais été dans Sa Présence, tout ce que vous devez faire, c’est confesser vos péchés et vous rendre compte que vous avez tort, et ce soir, Dieu a établi cet Ange appelé le Saint-Esprit, c’est Lui qui ôtera tous vos péchés. Alors vous vous écrierez: “Seigneur, me voici, envoie-moi.” Alors vous lèverez les mains et vous chanterez: “Je Le louerai! Je Le louerai! Je louerai l’Agneau meurtri. Que tout peuple Le glorifie, car Son Sang lave tous les péchés.” Je L’aime. Pas vous? Vivre dans Sa Présence!
93 Lorsque je suis monté en chaire, ce matin, je me sentais vraiment indisposé, vraiment souffrant, à cause… La semaine dernière, je–j’étais dans le Kentucky, avec quelques amis intimes, qui sont assis ici. Si je restais là-bas très longtemps, ils me tueraient, c’est sûr, on me gâte à mort – quelques-unes des meilleures cuisinières que j’aie jamais rencontrées dans ma vie. Et quand je suis plein, complètement gavé: “Frère Branham, vous prendrez bien un peu de ceci?” Et c’est tellement bon que j’essaie de faire descendre ça de force. J’avais l’estomac tellement chargé que je n’arrivais même plus à bouger. Je–je n’arrivais pas à dormir, je me levais et je marchais un peu. Et ce matin, quand je suis arrivé, je ne me sentais pas très bien. Mais dès que je suis entré dans Sa Présence, c’était réglé. C’était réglé, tout a disparu à ce moment-là. C’est vrai. Oh, vivre dans Sa Présence!

J’étais dans la pièce tout à l’heure, avec une petite fille de l’église de Dieu; le Saint-Esprit est venu sur moi pendant que je priais pour cette petite. Ses parents étaient descendus du camping de l’église de Dieu d’Anderson. Et le surveillant, là-bas, il savait que cette enfant, les docteurs avaient déclaré “qu’elle pourrait…c’était inévitable, elle allait bientôt mourir, de la leucémie”. La petite, gentille petite, était maintenant en phase terminale. Elle est venue là-derrière, et elle a tendu vers moi sa petite main, toute enflée à cause des aiguilles et de tout ce qu’on y avait injecté, et toute bleue. J’ai posé mon regard sur elle, j’ai eu une vision. Les parents venaient de lire un livre, là-bas. Ils ne savaient rien de ces choses. Le surveillant général là-bas, au camp, leur a parlé, disant qu’il fallait amener l’enfant ici. Ils voulaient revenir au moment où nous ferions un service de guérison. Et j’ai dit: “Amenez l’enfant maintenant”, je me sentais conduit.
95 Pendant que j’étais là, dans la pièce, le Saint-Esprit est retourné en arrière et a retracé les antécédents de l’enfant. Il a raconté comment tout ça était arrivé, ce qu’ils avaient fait. Il a signalé que l’ambition de la petite était d’être pianiste. Et sa mère s’est presque mise à hurler. Et son père a dit: “C’est la vérité de Dieu.” Ils sont assis là, dans leur voiture, en train d’écouter ceci, ils n’ont pas pu entrer, ils sont assis là, en train d’écouter ceci en ce moment.
96 Là un grand voile est apparu, une ombre suspendue au-dessus de l’enfant. Et j’ai dit: “Satan, tu es vaincu.” “Ô Dieu, tu ne fais pas acception de personnes. Par la puissance de Ta résurrection, et en tant que Ton serviteur, je chasse ce démon hors de cette enfant.” Une grande Lumière éclatante a brillé au-dessus d’elle – c’était terminé. Amen. Eh bien? Il est digne de toute louange, ça, c’est sûr!
97 Il connaît toutes choses. Il connaît votre coeur. Et vous savez ce que vous pensez; Lui aussi, Il le sait. S’il y a un petit péché qui s’accroche à vous ce soir, et que vous ne voudriez pas entrer dans la Présence de Dieu avec cette chose-là accrochée à vous, voulez-vous, une fois encore, lever la main, pour dire: “Frère Branham, priez pour moi, je désire être dans Sa Présence en ce Jour-là, exempt de toute culpabilité.” Que Dieu vous bénisse. Il y a beaucoup de mains, Dieu les voit. Dans Sa Présence. Maintenant je vais vous dire ce qu’il faut faire. Maintenant écoutez bien attentivement. Faites ce que David a fait: mettez le Seigneur devant vous, maintenant même. Mettez le Seigneur entre vous et ce péché, quel que soit ce petit péché qui vous colle à la peau. C’est peut-être le mensonge, c’est peut-être le vol, c’est peut-être les mauvaises pensées, c’est peut-être un tempérament colérique, c’est peut-être la boisson, c’est peut-être le tabac, c’est peut-être les jeux d’argent. Je ne sais pas ce que c’est. C’est peut-être la convoitise. Ça pourrait être n’importe quoi. Je ne sais pas ce que c’est. Quoi que ce soit, mettez le Seigneur devant vous. Alors votre coeur sera dans la joie et votre chair reposera avec espérance, car vous savez que Christ a promis qu’Il ressusciterait de nouveau, dans les derniers jours. Lorsqu’Il apparaîtra, nous serons alors semblables à Lui. Pourquoi ne pas faire ça maintenant, pendant que nous prions.
98 Notre Père Céleste, un petit Message décousu, apporté par un serviteur las, fatigué. Mais je réfléchissais à ce sujet: “demeurer dans la Présence de Dieu”. Et nous voyons, ce soir, quel effet cela a produit sur des hommes saints, d’entrer dans Ta Présence, quel effet cela a eu sur eux. Des sages, de grands prophètes puissants qui avaient été établis par Dieu et envoyés pour prêcher la Parole, mais quand ils L’ont rencontré face à face, ils sont tombés par terre, comme un homme mort. Nous, qu’est-ce que nous allons faire, en ce jour-là, Seigneur? Nous avons bien réfléchi là-dessus. Nous y avons réfléchi. Une quarantaine ou une cinquantaine de mains y ont réfléchi, Seigneur, puisque ces gens viennent de lever la main, ou, les coeurs qu’il y a derrière ces mains y ont réfléchi, à leur rencontre avec Lui, depuis que nous parlons. Eux, qu’est-ce qu’ils feraient, s’ils devaient Le rencontrer?
99 Mes mains à moi, Seigneur, sont levées. Qu’est-ce que je vais faire? En effet, Père, je commets beaucoup de fautes. Je viens de confesser mon péché, ce matin, devant l’église, comme je Te l’ai confessé au sommet de la montagne, l’autre matin, quand il faisait grand vent et qu’il neigeait, et là-haut, au sommet de la montagne, ô combien j’ai crié à Toi et je T’ai supplié de me pardonner ma stupidité. Et combien j’appréhendais de venir devant mes frères, alors que certains d’entre eux me considèrent comme Ton serviteur-prophète. Et, Seigneur, ça me coûtait terriblement de venir devant eux pour leur parler d’un acte stupide, que j’aie pu faire une chose pareille, mais, ô Dieu, il est salutaire pour mon âme que je confesse mes péchés et que je ne les cache pas. Alors, pour être honnête envers Toi et sans reproche devant les gens, je l’ai confessé, Seigneur: j’ai tort, j’ai complètement tort. J’implore pardon.
100 Et puis, Père, j’ai été lent à agir dans des choses qui Te concernaient, lent à Te servir: souvent j’aurais peut-être pu continuer plus longtemps, mais je ne le faisais pas. Père, je confesse mes péchés. Je veux que l’Ange de Dieu me purifie de cela, par le Sang de Jésus. D’autres mains se sont levées ce soir, peut-être que certaines personnes n’avaient encore jamais demandé pardon; mais je suis sûr d’une chose: si nous confessons nos péchés, Dieu les effacera, les mettra dans la mer de l’oubli, et ne s’en souviendra plus–plus jamais. Alors, Père, je confesse les miens, de m’être mal conduit devant ces gens, je ne me suis pas comporté comme un serviteur de Christ. Non. Je craignais que cet homme soit fâché contre moi, en pensant que je ne voulais pas l’offenser, mais je ne pensais pas à ce que j’étais en train de Te faire, à Toi, Seigneur. Alors là je–je Te prie de me pardonner. Et maintenant, Père, je sais que si je demande pardon, j’obtiens le pardon: Tu as mis toutes ces choses dans la mer de l’oubli, et Tu ne t’en souviendras plus jamais. Ô Dieu, je suis reconnaissant pour cela.
101 Et je Te prie de permettre que toutes les personnes ici, qui ont devant eux un péché, n’importe quel péché qui leur colle à la peau, fais qu’ils s’en défassent et qu’ils mettent le Seigneur devant eux, comme David l’a fait. Car nous nous écrions maintenant: “Malheur à moi, car j’ai vu la Gloire de Dieu. Je suis un homme dont les lèvres sont impures, ou une femme, ou une jeune fille, dont les lèvres sont impures, un garçon, ou autre.” Quoi que nous soyons, nous sommes impurs, et nous implorons le Sang de Jésus-Christ, le Sacrifice approprié, de nous purifier de tout péché, afin que nous puissions demeurer à jamais dans Sa Présence. Donne-nous de repartir d’ici, ce soir, notre coeur dans la joie, et notre chair reposant avec espérance, en sachant que, lorsque Jésus reviendra, nous serons ressuscités avec Lui, à Sa ressemblance, et nous Le rencontrerons dans les airs, dans l’Enlèvement, lorsque le compte à rebours sera enfin terminé. Nous voyons que le comptage, pour le septième âge de l’église, est déjà fait, et nous sommes maintenant prêts à décoller. Nous Te prions, ô Dieu, de, avant que Tu fermes la porte, s’il y a quelqu’un ici ce soir, qui n’est jamais entré, puissent-ils faire vite, se hâter d’entrer, car nous sentons que la porte de la miséricorde, qui sépare la miséricorde et le jugement, est en train de se fermer. Ceux qui accepteront la miséricorde entreront. Ceux qui refuseront d’entrer devront subir le jugement. Dieu ferme la porte. Qu’aucun de ces pécheurs repentants ne trouve une porte fermée ce soir. Puissions-nous tous obtenir le pardon et la miséricorde. Au Nom de Jésus-Christ.
102 Et maintenant, Père, aux malades et aux affligés, à ceux qui ont des besoins, je prie que Ta grâce fournisse tout ce dont ils ont besoin. Puissent-ils entrer en Christ, dans Sa Présence. Placer Christ, Christ, la promesse: “‘Il a été blessé pour mes transgressions’, c’est-à-dire mes péchés. ‘C’est par Ses meurtrissures que je suis guéri’, alors je place le Seigneur devant ma maladie. ‘Il est à ma droite, je ne chancellerai point’, alors j’avance avec assurance, confessant que je suis guéri. ‘C’est par Ses meurtrissures que je suis guéri.’” Accorde-le, Seigneur, à chacun d’eux. Et nous savons que, si nous confessons de notre coeur et, ou, de nos lèvres, et que nous croyons dans notre coeur, alors nous obtenons ce que nous désirons.
103 Tu as dit: “Quand vous dites quelque chose, croyez que cela arrive, et ce que vous avez dit vous sera accordé.” Nous croyons cela, Père, et nous croyons que Tu nous purifieras de tous nos péchés, que Tu guériras toutes nos maladies, et que Tu nous accorderas Ta grâce, Seigneur, afin que nous Te servions.
104 Sois avec ces gens. Beaucoup d’entre eux vont rouler sur des routes sombres ce soir. Beaucoup d’entre eux parcourront de nombreux kilomètres. Fais qu’il ne leur arrive rien, Seigneur. Ils sont venus de partout dans le pays, s’asseoir ici pour écouter le compte à rebours, pour voir combien proches nous sommes du temps de la fin. Je leur ai maintenant demandé de repartir en plaçant Dieu devant eux, constamment devant eux, devant tout le reste. Avant leur voyage, avant de faire quoi que ce soit, avant leur–avant leur lever, après leur coucher, toujours, avant de dormir, n’importe où, qu’ils fassent passer Dieu avant tout! “Car Il est à ma droite, je ne chancellerai point.” Ainsi, que leur coeur se réjouisse, en sachant qu’ils ont reçu ce qu’ils ont demandé, parce que Dieu l’a promis – et leur chair reposera avec espérance. Accorde-le, Seigneur, car nous Te le demandons au Nom de Jésus-Christ. Amen.

105 Maintenant, croyez-vous que vous avez placé le Seigneur entre vous et votre péché, entre vous et votre maladie, entre vous et votre faute, entre vous et vos voies? “Le Seigneur est constamment devant moi, et je suis dans Sa Présence. La prochaine fois que je serai sur le point d’allumer une cigarette: le Seigneur est devant moi. La prochaine fois que je serai sur le point de convoiter: le Seigneur est devant moi. La prochaine fois que je serai sur le point de dire quelque chose de mal: le Seigneur est devant moi. La prochaine fois que je serai sur le point de dire une méchanceté: le Seigneur est devant moi. 106 Alors, maintenant levons-nous. Oh, je me sens vraiment bien. C’est comme si je n’avais pas envie de rentrer à la maison. Et, vous savez, il n’est que, quoi, vingt-heures trente-cinq, j’ai fini à peu près deux heures plus tôt que d’habitude. N’est-ce pas merveilleux? Oh! la la! Mais maintenant, en repartant, souvenons-nous que nous devons nous revêtir du Nom de Jésus, comme d’un bouclier contre tous les pièges. Et quand les tentations surviennent…cherchent à nous faire oublier ça, murmurez simplement Son saint Nom en priant.

107 Combien apprécient notre pasteur, Frère Neville? 1 Thank you, Brother Neville, the Lord bless you real richly. And good evening, friends. It's a grand privilege to be back here in this building again tonight, and feeling the never-failing Presence of our Lord, as He's give the promise. And now, I know that many of you has stayed over for the little message tonight, for which I am very thankful. And many of you has to drive far yet tonight to get home. Some are checked out of your motels, as I understand. And we are going to try not to hold you long, so that's the reason we come in early so we could get away early.
2 And now, we will, just as soon as I can, I will announce when we are going to maybe start, I've had some calls this afternoon, knowing when we was going to start on these books, or this chapters. And I think, if the Lord willing, I want to take, the next time that we start on the Seven Seals of Revelation, and the seven natural seals. And then if we get through in time, take the seven seals on the back of the Book. See? Now, that may take a little time. See, there's seven seals that's opened; there's seven plagues, seven trumpets, all those sevens; and them seals we could take first. But then on the back of the Book is sealed with seven seals. Daniel heard the Voice as It thundered, and was forbidden to write it. John was forbidden to write it. But it was sealed on the backside of the Book, that is, after all of the mysteries of the Book has been given out and revealed. You notice Daniel said there the mysteries in the days of these voices, the mystery of God should be unfolded by that time (See?), the mystery, Who God is, how He was made flesh, all these things should be unfolded by that time. And then--then we're ready for the Seven Seals on the backside of the Book, that's not even revealed to men, not even wrote in the Bible, but they'll have to be just exactly compare with the rest of the Bible, and I think it'll be a great thing.
3 So now, we're going to try to hurry to get through. Thank every one of you for your kindness, and your presence, and--and all that you have done, we thank you very much. And now, I--I'm trusting that we won't keep you too long tonight, because you're so patient to set, stand. My wife said back there, she was talking about last night; she said, "I seen women that were even rather heavyset, standing there, and their clothes wringing wet, standing there, just grasping every Word." That's the reason I like to stay under the anointing of the Holy Ghost, that when you come out you're telling them people the honest Truth (See?) and just nothing but the Truth. And then they can lay onto That and it'll be all right.
4 Now, I want to ask your apology for a few moments. I left a little early this morning. And the tapes are turned off at this time, and I--I'm just in a moment I'm tell the recorders when to turn the tape on. I want to finish the "Countdown," five minutes for it, before I leave. I forgot and went away; I was just so carried away this morning till I just went out without saying anything about it. But I kind of left you, "What was the countdown?" See? Now, I know we're in the countdown, but what is the countdown? See? If you don't know what the countdown is, then you'll be kind of confused. And so I--I'd like to--to bring that off just... 5 Just coming in from different places, and we've had a great time in the last three messages, of speaking on the subject of--of different doctrines and so forth that we have put forth. I just remember at this time I'm to give a little space in there, you people on the tape, for to change over your tapes. Now, I'll tell you when, and ready to turn on. All right. Now, I have to watch this. It seems like a bunch of madeup formal, but them boys has got to get the tape. And they can't get it all messed up; if they do, people out there won't understand it. So we have to take it in this manner. And if somebody will just step out of the room and signal me there, Junior, when they're ready to have the tapes crossed over. 6 The Lord bless you. We're happy to be here in the Tabernacle again tonight. The place packed out with many people standing around again tonight, with three days of--or three times of service. I would that if anyone listens to this tape, that they would like to get back and get last night's tape. Study it in your home. It's the--the present stage of the ministry that the Lord has given me. Especially I'd like for ministers to hear that before I visit their churches and come in their homes. Now, I'd like for them to--to get that. Now, this morning we spoke on the subject of the "Countdown," the Church ready to leave.
7 And now tonight, God willing, we're speaking on the subject of "In His Presence." Oh, how we thank God for the privilege that we can come into His Presence. But, first, I wish you all to turn in your Bibles with me to the prophet Isaiah, the 6th chapter of the prophet Isaiah. We all know that Isaiah was a major prophet, and one of the great prophets of his day. He ended his life by being sawed asunder with saws, for a testimony, as a martyr to the power of Almighty God. In the Book of Isaiah the 6th chapter, I begin at the 5th verse to read.
Then said I, Woe is me! for...
Maybe I start with the 1st verse. Let's pardon me a moment. Let's start at the 1st verse and read down till about the 8th verse.
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord setting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
Above it stood the seraphims: each one having six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly
And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD God of hosts: and the whole earth is full of his glory.
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this has touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin is purged.
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Who shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here I am; send me.
8 May the Lord bless His Word. I think that's a most striking Scripture. We find that, in the Presence of God, men recognize themselves to be sinners. We may feel pretty good when we're out different places, and feel like that we're pretty good people, but when we ever come into the Presence of God, then we see how little we are.
9 Standing not long ago with a--a friend of mine that I had the privilege of leading to Christ, Burt Caul, up in New Hampshire, a hunting partner, we was standing by Cold Brook Falls up in the Adirondack, and it was such a mammoth big falls. I taken my family last year up there to look at it. Way back off the road, you have to hike back to get to it. And when we seen that blue-green water pouring with such mighty power out of the mountains, and gushing down over the rocks, Burt stood there and looked at me, and he said, "Gee, Billy, it makes a man feel just so little," he measured about a quarter of an inch on his fingers.
I said, "That's right, Burt." Now, that was all he knowed of getting into the Presence of God to see His creation.
10 I wonder the man who wrote "How Great Thou Art," if he didn't look up one night and look at the stars, how far they are away. A few months ago, Brother Fred, Brother Woods and I, was standing with Brother McAnally out in the Arizona desert, we was measuring, trying, one star, how close it was to the other. And with the millions and billions of miles away, they didn't look over a quarter of an inch from each other. Then we begin to think, according to scientific proof of that, those stars are probably further away from each other than we are from them. See how it is?
11 Then we realized how little we are when we realize how great He is, and how close we come in of coming to His Presence. Somehow another, it's always throwed a great effect upon people to come into the Presence of God. I've seen the time in my ministry when you'd see the Presence of God come into such a place that it would bring a person up and just reveal the life to them, and call out their sins of all kinds of immoral acts, and it bring such a holy hush amongst the people till they'd drop out of the prayer line before they ever come up to be prayed for, and run to the altar and get right with God before they come up into His Presence. See, there's something about coming into the Presence of God that causes things to happen. I've seen people laying in cots and stretchers.
12 That night down there at Mexico, when that little dead baby laying under a blanket, that the little Spanish mother brought up, or little Mexican mother, rather, brought up. When they seen, several thousands of those people saw, maybe fifty or seventy-five thousand at one gathering, saw that little dead baby come to life, women fainted, people threw up their hands and screamed. Why? They realized that a human being could not do that, that they were in the Presence of Almighty God. And it caused something to happen.
13 I've been privileged to hear godly men speak. It was said one time of Charles Finney, little bitty fellow, never weighed over about a hundred and ten pounds, but he had such a forceful way of speaking until... He was trying the acoustics one day in a building. They didn't have PA systems then. And there was a man repairing, up in the balcony, or up in the roof of the place, and he heard the man come in, so he didn't know who they were, he just kept quiet. And Mr. Finney was going to try the acoustics. After spending much time in prayer for that revival that he was going to hold, he tried his voice to see how it would carry. He slipped up quickly to the pulpit, and said, "Repent, or perish." And he said it with such force--force, after being under the anointing of God, till the man dropped out of the top of the balcony, down onto the floor, out of the top of the building, onto the floor.
14 He preached the Gospel in such a way till he stood in Boston, Massachusetts, in a little bay window, because there was no church could hold his crowd. And he stood there with such mighty force, and preached hell such a place, until working men with their baskets under their arms, fell into the street and screamed for mercy in the Presence of God. Great preachers who's been able, by the Word of God to bring the Presence of God to an audience... Far be it that men would ever be so seared in their hearts till they could never recognize the Presence of God. Far be it.
15 When the first man, as soon as he had sinned and done something wrong, and when God came into His presence, or he came into the Presence of God, Adam, he could not stand in the Presence of God. He run and hid himself in the bush and tried to cover himself with a fig leaf, because he knowed he was standing in the Presence of Jehovah, the Creator. That was the reaction of the first man, after he had sinned and tried to come into the Presence of God with sin upon his soul. He could not hide, because he was tender yet. Sin had not took ahold like it has rooted into people's hearts today, but he was very conscious that he was standing before His Creator. Now, he hid himself in the bushes and would not come out, and could not come out until God had made a preparation for him.
16 We could go back, and take in Genesis the 17th chapter and the 3rd verse, when the great patriarch Abraham, when he came into the Presence of God, and God spoke to him (in the 17th chapter) in the Name of Almighty God, Abraham fell on his face. That great patriarch, servant of God, could not stand in the Presence of God, though had served Him for twenty-five years, faithfully. But when God moved into his presence, the patriarch fell on his face because he couldn't stand in the Presence of God.
17 In Exodus 3 we find that Moses, the great servant and prophet of God, when he was back on the backside of the desert, that man was a holy man. He had been born for the purpose. He was born from his mother's wombs to be a prophet. He had tried to get his education and do everything he could to deliver his people, because he understood that he was to deliver his people, but when he had understood it by a theological standpoint. He was trained. He was well scholared. He could teach the Egyptians wisdom, which was the most smartest people in the world. He knowed all the ins-and-outs. He knowed the Scripture from A to Z. He knowed the promises that God had made. He knowed them from an intellectual standpoint. And he was a--a great military man. But one day on the backside of the desert, when he come into the Presence of God, he jerked off his shoes and fell--to his feet, knowing that he was on holy ground. He could not stand upon his feet when he come in the Presence of God; he fell to his face like Abraham did. He could not stand in the Presence of God.
18 In Exodus 19:19 when the chosen people of God since way back in the days of Abraham, from Abraham come Isaac, Isaac come Jacob, out of Jacob come the patriarchs, and years after years had developed holy men, great men, a chosen people, a chosen race, a sanctified, holy people, and had served God their life. And one day God said, "Gather Israel out here, I'm going to speak to them."
But when God came down on top of Mount Sinai, and the whole mountain caught afire, and the smoke was flying from it like a furnace, and the Voice of God roared out. Israel fell on their face and said, "Let Moses speak, and not God, lest we die." Men, in the Presence of God realizes he's a sinner. Yet they were, every one, circumcised according to the law. They'd carried the commandments and everything, but when God spoke and they moved up into His Presence, they realized that they were out; they were--they were not right. There was something that was lacking, because they were in the Presence of God. Yes. And they said, "Let Moses speak, and not God, for if God speaks we'll all die. Let Moses speak to us."
20 It was in Luke 5, 8, that when Peter... Oh, when he was a great stubborn man, and a man of great influence, great power that we understand. He was like a bully, a noted fisherman. But when he saw the miracle of God performed by an ordinary Man, looked like, which he recognized at that time that that taken more than a man to throw all them fish in a net where he, with all of his education, his knowledge of fishing, had fished all night and not even taken a thing. But he heard Someone say, "Cast your net in."
And when he begin to pull, he had a great multitude of fishes, and he realized that he was a sinful man. And he said, "Depart from me, O Lord, for I am a sinful man." Who said that? Saint Peter in the Presence of God, asked for God to depart out of his presence, because he recognized himself a sinner.
Abraham recognized himself wrong. Adam recognized himself wrong, which was the son of God, recognized himself wrong. Moses recognized himself wrong. Israel, as a church and nation, recognized themselves wrong. Depart from me, for I am a sinful man." He didn't try to say, "Now, I'm holy and worthy to receive this." He said, "I am a sinful man."
23 One time a self-styled religionist, with all the theology that he could learn under a great teacher called Gamaliel, his name was Saul of Tarsus, which we know as Paul: religious to the dot. He knowed all the ins and out of their religion. He was a Pharisee of the Pharisee, and a Hebrew of the Hebrews. He was a noted man, a scholar, smart, shrewd, educated, claimed he knowed God from baby up. But one day on his road down to Damascus, that Pillar of Fire shined over him and he fell on his--off of his feet to the ground in the dust, and said, "Lord, what would You have me to do?" All of his great training, all of his great theological training, all of his education didn't mean a thing when he stood in the Presence of God.
24 I'd like to stop here a minute and say that's the same thing. You might have got a DD., Ph.D., whatever you might be; you might have went to church since you was a child; you might've done all the religious acts there is, but once in the Presence of God you'll feel so little and no-account.
Paul realized that he was wrong, and he fell to the ground under the influence and power. When he looked up and seen the very God that he'd been preaching, and--against, and thought he knowed, and seen that he was wrong, he fell from his feet to the ground, because he was in the Presence of God. He seen that Pillar of Fire.
26 What about the great Saint John of Revelations 1:7, when he was showed the vision, and looked, and heard a Voice speaking to him. And he turned to look to see the Voice, and he saw seven golden candlesticks. And One stood in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks, with hair like wool, eyes like flames of fire, feet like pillars of brass; He was girded with a golden girdle around the paps, and He was called the Word of God. And when the great Saint John had walked with Christ, leaned upon His bosom, when he done all these things... As I said this morning, Paul's ministry exceeded any of them. Here, after John had walked with Jesus, talked with Him, slept with Him, eat with Him, but when he seen Him standing there, that glorified state, he said he fell like a dead man at His feet. Amen. Think of it.
27 We can come to church, and talk, and praise God, and so forth, but, oh, brother, when we see Him coming, something will be different in our hearts. We might think we do our religious duty by go to church and pay our tithings. We might think that we keep the laws of the church and recite all the creeds, but once let us get a look at Him, the whole thing's changed all the way around. Yes, it's sure.
This great man, Saint John, a great man like that, the Bible said in Revelations 1:7, that, he fell as if he was a dead man. After three and a half years of fellowship with Christ, was one of the writers of the Epistles, rode behind Him, eat with Him at the table, slept with Him at the bed, and fellowshipped with Him wherever He went, but when he's turned to see Him, he had no more life left in him. He fell like a dead man to the floor, or to the ground. All right.
29 We see Isaiah in Isaiah 6:5, as we've just read, this great mighty prophet, he's one of the greatest prophets there is in the Bible. There's sixty-six Books of the Bible; there's sixty-six chapters in Isaiah. Isaiah starts off in Genesis, the middle of Isaiah he brings in the New Testament, at the end of Isaiah he brings in the millennium; just exactly Genesis, the New Testament, and Revelation; perfect. Isaiah was one of the major prophets. But one day he had been leaning upon the arm of Uzziah the great king, Uzziah had been taken from him, and he was down. He was a pretty good fellow; he was a good righteous man, if that righteous king (a good king) recognized him as a holy man and kept him in his temple.
30 Isaiah saw visions. He was a prophet. Isaiah preached the Word. He was a minister. Isaiah was a holy man. But one day, standing in the temple, he fell into a trance and he saw the Glory of God. He saw the Angels with wings over Their face, wings over Their feet, flying with wings, crying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty."
That prophet realized he was nothing. He said, "Woe is me, for I am a man of unclean lips," a prophet, a mightiest prophet of the Bible, one of them. "I am a man with unclean lips, and I dwell among people with unclean lips, Woe is me, because I see the Glory of God."
32 And he said, when that angel cried, the posts of the temple shook back and forth. Brother, that'll make you. Not only is the posts of the temple going to shake, but the whole heavens and earth's going to shake when He comes again. The mountains will flee, and the sea will fade away, and scream "Hide us from the face of Him that sets upon the throne." It's going to be a terrible time. I tell you, sinner friend, you better be checking it up. That's right.
Now, Isaiah said, "Woe is me, I'm a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among unclean people. And I'm--these people has unclean lips."
34 Now remember, if such holy men recognized themselves sinners in the Presence of God, what will the sinner and ungodly do at that day? What will people do who set in the meetings? What will the people do that seen the power of God, that's heard the countdown on the Word, that seen God manifest Himself, and (beyond a shadow of doubt) every Scripture fulfilled, and will still try to make it to heaven without being born again and receive the Holy Ghost? The Bible said, "If a righteous man be scarcely saved, where will the sinner and ungodly appear?" What kind of a place are we going to stand in if we see God unfold Hisself right before us, and see the Glory of God just the same as them men did, and that kind of men cried out, prophets and sages upon whom the Word is based upon? If they cried, and fell to their feet, and screamed, "I'm man of unholy lips, uncleanness," what will it be then for that man who won't even confess his sins? What will it be for that teenager that won't confess his or her sin? What will it be for that hardhearted man that thinks he knows more about God's creation than God does Himself? What will happen to that man that's spent all of his life trying to disprove the Bible, where will that guy appear at? Think of it.
35 This is evangelism. This is the time to shake people. This is the time that--that God said there'd come a time, He shook Mount Sinai one time but there'd come a shaking again, that He wouldn't only shake Mount Sinai, but He'd shake everything that could be moved. But did you notice the rest of the Scripture? "But we receive a Kingdom that cannot be moved." Hallelujah. Everything that can be shook will be shaken. The heavens will shake. The earth will shake. "Heavens and earth will pass away, but that Word shall never pass away. For upon this rock I'll build My Church, and the gates of hell will never prevail against It." Everything that can be shook will be shaken. But we receive a Kingdom which is the Word of God Himself, and God is His Word. He don't shake Himself. Amen. Oh, my. But we receive a Kingdom that cannot be moved; it's unshakable, said Paul the Hebrew writer.
36 Such a person and such a man, such a time and how they felt... We have also ourselves, we've seen the Glory of God like these man did. Sure. We seen It. We seen the Glory of God like Abraham saw It. We saw the Glory of God like Moses saw It, same Pillar of Fire, the same power of God, the same Christ un... revealing Himself, showing Himself, keeping His Word in the last days. How can we come by then, and walk and treat It so lightly? How can we walk around and hold to our creeds and denominations, and not take the Word of God? What will it be for us in that day? How will it happen with us, when we seen the Glory of God?
37 Some people will stand off and they make fun of It; some will laugh at It; some will call It fanaticism; some call It mental telepathy; some call It Beelzebub; some call It one thing or another. As the old proverbs is, "Fools will walk with hobnailed shoes where Angels fear to trod." That's right. "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.'" When he sees God manifested so perfectly by His Own Word (not by a creed; but by His Word), and then walk right over It and make fun of It, he's a fool. 'Cause that God is the Word, and God's made Hisself plain to them, and he's a fool, the Bible said. What will it be for him when he has to stand in that place? It'll be a--it'll be terrible for that man in that day, the ungodly.
38 Repentant sinners though, doesn't have any fear. Oh, no. A sinner that will repent, he knows that there's a bloody Sacrifice waiting and standing in his place. That's what gives me the consolation. I've seen the Glory of God. I've felt His power. I know the touch of His hand. I know the touch of His chastisement. I know that He's God. And I know I'm undone, but there's One standing there for me. Amen.
There's One Who stands there and says, Father, lay all of his iniquity upon Me, because he stood for Me down on the earth." Hallelujah. Then I've walked to the throne of God, boldly, having grace in my heart to know it's not by good works, but by His mercy I'm saved. Not what I can do, what I can join, what I can say; but it's by His grace that He saved me.
No wonder the poet that caught that, screamed out, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. Once was lost, but now I'm found; blind, but now I see."
40 How can I ever go to heaven, how could you go to heaven? We cannot do it, we... There's no way for us to do it. But there's One made the way. And He is the Way. And how do we get to Him? By one Spirit, His Spirit, we're baptized into one Body which will be raised up like an orbit. We'll go out of the earth as astronauts of this last day in the face of God. Amen. Sure. Repentant sinners don't have to worry; Someone is there in their place.
Oh, then after we have come into His Presence now, and we are known we've been in His Presence, we see Him do things that He did when He was here on earth. How do you know... How do you know the vine you're looking at? Because the fruit it bears. How do you know the church you're going to? By the fruit it bears. Jesus said, "He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also. These signs shall follow them that believe."
42 Now, we see He never did ordain us to go make denominations. He never did ordain us to go make creed. But He warned us against such. "For whosoever shall take anything from It or add anything to It, the same will be taken out of, their part, in the Book of Life." See?
So we're not ordained to do nothing but stay with that Word. And if a man is sent of God, he'll stay with the Word, because God can only stand by His Word. See? See, He must stay by His Word. Then when we come into His Presence, when a man once comes into the Presence of God, he's changed forever, if there's any changing to him. Now, there are those who could walk in the Presence of God and pay no attention to It. He wasn't ordained to Life. But if he was predestinated of God, as soon as that first move hits, he knows it. That catches fire.
44 Look at that little prostitute down there that day at Samaria, that woman. She was in a bad shape mentally and physically. We know that. But as soon as she seen that sign done of the Messiah, she said, "We know Messiah's coming to do this. Thou must be His prophet."
He said, "I'm that Messiah that was wrote to come."
She recognized it. She never asked one more question. She started right quick with the responsibility to know that if she had found that and come into the Presence of God, she was responsible to tell somebody else about It. Hallelujah. Right. Any man that comes into the Presence of God is responsible before God, from that minute on to tell somebody else. Look at Abraham; look at Moses; look at Peter; look at Paul; the moment they come into the Presence of God, recognized themselves sinners, and sealed their testimony with their life. Look at the little lady, she couldn't stay no longer, she went to the city and told the men, "Come, see the Man that told me the things I've done. Isn't this the Messiah?" They could not deny It, because It was Scriptural. Certainly. Yes, they've got to do it, a man, when we got a responsibility of telling others as Moses did, as Peter did, as Paul did. After these things, you've seen It and come into His Presence, you're responsible for the message to get to somebody else. You just cannot set still with it. You must take it to someone else.
46 I remember an old sister used to be here, Brother Graham Snelling's mother, she used to set right here in the church, and she would sing, "I've just got over. I'm running, running, running, and I just got over and I can't set down." She had just found something. I went over to a little colored church over here in Louisville, and all of them was standing up, singing, "I'm running up the King's Highway, just found it, and took up the Highway."
There's something about it, when you find Christ, you cannot hold your peace any longer. The rest of your days you are a changed person, for when life and Life comes together, it makes a bright Light. True. When the bulb connects with the wire, if it's a correct bulb, it's got to give light; when the current and the bulb gets together, there's nothing to do but scatter light. It has to do it. And when a man or a woman is predestinated to Eternal Life, and they see the current of God catch that bulb, it'll throw Light everywhere it can. You might not be over a ten watt, but you'll scatter what Light you got. If you ain't a five-hundred watt, scatter ten watt Light. Give your Light. "Let your light so shine before men, that they might see your good works and glorify the Father which is in heaven." Yes, sir.
48 When a man comes in contact with God, he recognizes himself no good. How can a man walk around and brag about how big he is and what all he's done, when he's nothing? He's nothing to begin with. One day down in Memphis, Tennessee, or one of the--I don't think it was in Memphis; it was one of the places there. I was with Brother Davis and was having a--a revival, it might've been Memphis. And we was--went to a coliseum, and they had in there, not a coliseum, it was kind of a art gallery, and they had the--the great statues that they'd got from different parts of the earth, of different, Hercules and so forth, and great artists had painted. And then they had the analysis of a man that weighed a hundred and fifty pounds. You know how much he's worth? Eighty-four cents. That's all he is. Eighty-four cents is all the--all the chemicals you can get out of him. He's just got enough whitewash to sprinkle a hen's nest, and he's got enough, just a little bit of calcium, little potash. It would all sell for eighty-four cents. But we just take care of that eighty-four cents and baby it around.
49 There was two boys standing there, and one looked at the other one and said, "Jim, we're not worth very much are we?"
He said, "No, we're not, John."
And I said, "But wait a minute, boys, you got a soul in there that's worth ten thousand worlds, that's been--can be redeemed by the power of God, if you'll just let it."
Man, when he sees these things, he's responsible to tell others. I saw it when I was just a boy. I spent my whole life at it. I only sorry I got one life; wish I had ten thousand. If I had an eternity, I'd still want to tell people about it, 'cause it's the greatest thing I ever found.
If you'll read in Ezekiel 33, 33rd chapter of Ezekiel, there was a watchman set on a tower, and this watchman was responsible for the entire city. Amen. Now, wake--wake yourselves to your spiritual conscience a minute, while I get to this Scripture. That watchman had to be a trained man. He had to know what he was doing, for at any distance, as soon as they arose, the enemy, he could detect it. He could tell their march; he could tell their color; he could tell their rank and file. Just as far as the human eyes could see, he could see it. And he was higher than the rest of them, for he was trained to know the enemy. And God required the whole city at his hand. "Watchman, what of the night?" Hallelujah.
52 That's the way God's soldiers are today. They're trained to the Word. When anything comes up that's got a little polish to it, that's got something else that's not Scripture, they warn their congregation. Anything that's not Bible, anything that's not--that's not God-like, such as having soup suppers, dances, and everything else to pay off the pastors. Those things are wrong. Bunco games and card parties in the churches, it's wrong. And the real watchman on the wall, who's once been in the Presence of God... If he isn't on the wall, if he's just supposed to be on the wall, the wall may not be any higher than the rest of the congregation. But if he's a correct watchman, God raises him plumb up into spheres that the rest of them never gets to. But he watches the flock, and God requires it of him. The man of God who stands in the Presence of God, and knows God is God, and know that God keeps His Word, and watch God perform Hisself and do His duty and keep His Word, then no matter how many organizations or denominations tries to tear it down, he knows the rank and file of the enemy. Amen. He knows what to tell the congregation, a real watchman.
53 If we have confessed that He is--we been in His Presence, and we have confessed our sins, they are blotted out the book of His memory. There's nobody but God could do that. Now, you can do anything to me; I'll forgive you, but I'll remember it. If I'd do anything to you, you'd forgive me, but you'll remember it. But God can forgive and forget it. Think of that, "Don't even remember it." Amen. That makes me feel good. When it's not even remembered anymore, nothing can do it but God. Nothing but God can do that. He said He would blot it out of His book of memory. I can't do it; you can't do it, because we've only got these little finite senses. But He's infinite God; He can absolutely forget that it ever was done. Amen.
54 A young lady come from a country church, and her father was an old fashion, shouting preacher, or a member of the church. And so she moved into the city, and she got all mixed up with the women down there, and got to acting like they did, and the fashions. And one day she was kind of ashamed for her papa and mama to come, or her father, rather, her mother was dead. So the old man, only thing he'd do, get up of a morning, eat his breakfast, and get the Bible, and read It, and cry and pray and shout all day long, and run up and down the room, and she was a little embarrassed about it. So then--then when the--all time through the night, if he got ahold of the Bible, started reading It, he'd raise up out of the bed and holler, "Glory to God. Hallelujah. Oh, glory to God," just stomp and cry half the night.
55 So one day she was going to entertain her church members to a little tea party like they always have, you know, so she didn't know what she was going to do with her dad. After all, it was her daddy. So she decided she'd put him up in the attic, and say, "Daddy, you don't want to be around where these women are, do you?"
Said, "No, I don't believe I want to do that."
She said, "Well, we're going to have the church women up here today, and we're going to have a little meeting, a little prayer meeting. So I--I tell you, dad, why don't you just go up in the attic?"
Said, "I just believe I'll do that."
So she said, "Read this nice book." And she gave him a geography, took his Bible away from him so he'd keep quiet. So knowed if he read the Bible, why, he would go to making a lot of noise up there. So he got up over them, you know, where they was having their party. So she give him the geography, said, "This is nice. You should read it, daddy, because it tells you all the truth about the world."
Well, he said, "I'll be glad to read that."
So he said, "Now, you go up there and keep real quiet till these women leave, and then I'll... You come back down and then you can do whatever you want to." He agreed to do it. So he goes upstairs, sets up there.
59 And they was all having their tea party, you know, talking about so-and-so, and you know how it goes, having all that big time. And about that time something cut loose upstairs, all the screaming and jumping, and the plaster falling. The old man running up and down through the attic just as hard as he could go, jumping up and down, and hollering, "Glory to God. Glory to God." The women didn't know what happened up there, what they had upstairs. So directly down the steps he come, hard as he could go.
She said, "Daddy, I give you a geography to read."
Said, "Yes, I know it. You know," said, "I was reading in this geography here where there's places in the sea that ain't got no bottom in it." And said, "I read over here in the Bible yesterday, He said He put my sins in the sea of forgetfulness. Glory to God....?... Said, "They're still going. They don't have an end; they just keep on going." That's right. And he was shouting about it. Well, that's right.
61 God puts our sins in the sea of forgetfulness, blots them out, and they're as if they never did happen. Oh, my. Then we stand by the grace of God, through Jesus Christ our Lord, pure and holy, just as holy as He was, because He doesn't see me when I come up there, He sees His Own Son. The only way He can see. Can't see me, because I'm in His Son (Yes, sir.), and He only sees His Son. Isn't that wonderful? We don't have to think about sins anymore; it's all gone; it's under the Blood. Yes, sir. Don't have to worry about it anymore; it's all out, and out of God's memory. He don't even remember it no more.
62 Isaiah, that mighty prophet, when he confessed his sins, he said, "Woe is me, for I'm a man of unclean lips." A prophet. "I'm a man of unclean lips, and my congregation's unclean." See? "The people I preach to, they're unclean. I'm unclean. And woe is me. But here comes a bunch of Angels down from the Glory of God, fanning back the--the clouds, and I look up there and see His train filling the whole heaven. And I watched these Angels that's never knowed what sin was. They never even knowed what sin was, and they're in the Presence of God; they got two wings over their faces; they got two wings over their feet; and they're flying with two wings; and they cry day and night, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God." Whew. That'd make you feel kind of unholy, wouldn't it? Now, what did he do? He said, "Woe is me."
63 And when he confessed his sins and said, "Woe is me," the Angel went over and took the tongs, picked up a coal of fire which represented the Holy Ghost and fire, and come over and laid it on the prophet's lips, and said, "I've cleansed you." Then the wings winnowing their way like that, moved away the curtains of time, and he heard God say, "Who'll go for us?"
But after he found out that there was a way to rid sin, God wanted somebody to go for Him, and he said, "Here am I, send me." He had been in the Presence of God, and had confessed his sins, and been cleansed from his sins, and was ready for service. Amen.
As the poet caught that, said,
Millions now in sin and shame are dying,
Listen to their sad and bitter cry.
Hasten, brother, hasten to their rescue;
Quickly answer, "Master, here am I."
66 When I think of Africa, India, and around the world, millions of heathens screaming and crying for mercy, and who will go? Not pass them a tract, but bring them Jesus Christ. Somebody in His Presence, like Moses, who could go down there and show them true deliverance, not make them join a church, or shake hands and have a creed, but bring deliverance to their soul; some good godly man. Yes, Isaiah confessed his sins and was cleansed.
67 After Jacob had wrestled all night in confessing his sins, you remember the place he was? It was called Penitel, P-e-n-i-t-e-l, Penitel. The word "Penitel," in the Hebrew, means "the face of Almighty God." Jacob, the little shyster had run all... His name was "Jacob," which means "supplanter," that's deceiver, had run all of his life, away from God, but when he got one time in the Presence of God at Penitel, in the face of God, he got ahold of God and wouldn't turn Him loose. God, we need more Jacobs. He held on to the face of God in the Presence of God, he stayed until it was sunup. God said, "Let Me go, because the sun's arising." And he stayed in the face of God until sunup, but he went away justified and saved. Sun.
68 Oh, what a great thing it was now to know that he had wrestled through. That he had seen signs of God, he had had dreams about God, but this was one time he was in the face of God, in the Presence of God. Think of it, friends, now as we hurry up.
In the Presence of God a man's changed. Jacob was changed. Now, he could walk with God. Yes, he was a different man than what he was when he went up there. The battle was now over. Yes, sir. And he begin to build an altar. He hadn't been used to building altars, you know. But I tell you, when you come in the Presence of God, you want to build an altar somewhere. You want to find somewhere where you can pray. He built an altar. He was cleansed, and God had won.
69 And Jacob was changed from "Jacob," "supplanter," to "Israel," "a prince, having power with God." That's what happened to Jacob. The supplanter, the deceiver, the unrighteous, the unholy, the deceiver, deceived his brother, stole the birthrights, as it was, from his brother took a little dirty way of doing it, such a deceiver. He deceived his father-in-law. Put poplar sticks and made speckled calves, when the cows being pregnated come there, look at it, and the sheep... would see that speckled stick and make speckled cattle, give them birth marks. Deceiver, deceiving his own father-in-law. Deceived his mother, deceived his daddy, deceived his brother, but when he once got in the... He was a shyster. He was running everywhere he went, always on the run from God; he was on the run from his brother. But when he come into the Presence of God, he recognized he was a sinner. What did he do? What did he do? He seen his opportunity. He had met something that he didn't even think about before, and he stayed there until all sins was gone. Oh, my. God got him in His Own Presence.
70 God manages a way to get man in the Presence, then they make their decision. Some of them run from Him; some run to Him. If they're predestinated to Life, they believe It; they hang onto It. If they're not, they try to get away and say, "There's nothing to It." See? And that's the guy that's lost. The guy that confesses his sin, shall have pardon. If you hide your sin, you'll not prosper. No.
So Jacob when he, you know, the next day he met Esau his brother. He didn't need no help from him then. He didn't need his armies. He was in business building altars. He wasn't afraid of Esau no more.
72 Psalms 16:8, David said, "I have set the Lord before me." That's a good thing to do. Psalms 16:8, "I've set the Lord before me." So he could not be confused about it. He wanted to be conscious of His Presence, so David said, "I have set the Lord always before my face. Now I, David, have set the Lord before my face, always to be conscious--conscious of God's Presence." Wouldn't that be a good lesson for all of us tonight? Set the Lord before our face so we'll be conscious of His Presence. Put Him first. Why? Put Him first, before you. Why? Then you won't sin when you are realizing that constantly you're in the Presence of God. When you realize God's around, you watch what you say.
73 A man, when he thinks God's gone, he'll cuss, he'll lust after women, he'll do... He'll steal, cheat, lie. He'll do anything when he thinks that God don't see him. But bring him into the Presence of God, he'll stop it right now. See? And David said, "I have put the Lord always before me." That's a good thing. No wonder God said he was a man after His Own heart. Man will do everything when he thinks that God isn't near. But when he realizes that God's near, did you ever notice a sinner? Let a godly person walk up, he'll quit his cussing, if he's got any respects at all. See? He won't tell the dirty jokes that he would've told. See? See, he'll leave off that, because he knows that he's in the Presence of God, 'cause God dwells in the tabernacle of His people. See?
74 After David did this, he said, "My heart shall rejoice." I wish you'd read it, Psalms 16. "My heart will rejoice, and my flesh shall rest in hope." Why? My heart shall rejoice because I've got God before me all the time. "And my flesh shall rest in hope; if I die, I'll be raised up again. For He'll not suffer His Holy One to see corruption, neither will He leave His soul in hell." See? When David put God before him, and was conscious that constantly he was in the Presence of God... "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God."
75 Now listen, church, I love you. And I want you to listen to me now. As Brother McCulley used to say, I'm going to say something. Always put the Lord before you, and don't you do nothing that you wouldn't do in His Presence, because He's watching over you. See? The Lord is encamped about those who fear Him. He don't... He just stays right near you. And He knows everything you're doing, and you must recognize that. When you start to tell a lie, don't do it. Remember, God is listening at you. If you start to do a little cheat, don't you do it; God's looking at you. If you start to take His Name in vain, don't do it; God's listening at you. Start to smoke a cigarette, He's watching you. See? His... We used to sing a song,
All along on the road to the soul's true abode,
There's an eye watching you;
Every step that you take,
This great eye is awake,
There's an eye watching you.
Remember, do like David, put the Lord always before your face. Then your heart will rejoice and your flesh shall rest in hope, for He promised it. Yes, sir. He knew that he'd raise up because God had promised it. All right.
When we come into His Presence, we're changed, never to be the same. Look all down through the ages of every walk of life, at men. Look at Abraham. You say, "Well, the changed life is just for ministers." Oh, no. The changed life is for everybody. See?
77 Now, Abraham was a farmer, but when he heard God's Voice speaking to him, and saw that vision, he was a changed man from that time on. He separated himself from his kindred, from all of his associates, and walked as a pilgrim and a stranger in a strange land the rest of his life, dwelling in tents; because he clearly confessed that he was seeking a city whose Builder and Maker was God. He knowed there was a God, and there was a city somewhere whose Builder and Maker was God. That's what Hebrews 11 tells us, that he was seeking a city that's Builder and Maker was God. He was a changed man, yet he wasn't nothing but a mere farmer. But he saw a vision and come into the Presence of God, and he was a changed man from then on.
78 Moses, he was a shepherd, but he was a changed man when he come into the Presence of God. He was a coward; he was running from Pharaoh, with a whole army behind him. But with a stick in his hand, he went back and took the whole nation. See? Why? He come into the Presence of God. He was a changed man, a shepherd.
Peter, a fisherman, knowed nothing about fishing--or knowed nothing about God, only thing he probably knowed was how to catch fish. But when he come in the Presence of God, and see the great Creator Who could create fish, when He told him to let down the nets for the draught. There wasn't any fish there; he just pulled his nets up. But he said, "At Thy Word, Lord. I believe that You're the Son of God, and if You let--if I let down the net, You told me to do it at Your Word, because You and Your Word are the same, I'll let down the net." And when he begin to pull, he said, "Depart, Lord, I'm a sinful man." See, a fisherman, after Peter met Christ he was never the same anymore. He, afterwards, was so true to God, he was given the keys to the Kingdom. Yes, sir.
80 Paul, a self-styled Pharisee, educated and trained in all the religion of the--that there was in the world in that day, one of the highest knowed scholars in the land, but when he come before that Pillar of Fire one day, the God that he had persecuted, ignorantly. He was a Pharisee; he didn't believe that God was a Man. He knowed God was the Pillar of Fire; It led His people out of Egypt; It had been with them all along. But when He saw this Pillar of Fire, he fell on his face. And that he heard a Voice saying, "Saul, why persecutest thou Me?"
Said, "Who are You, Lord?"
He said, "I'm Jesus." He was a man that said, "How have you been baptized?" He had been in the Presence of God. He was a changed man from then on, he had been in the Presence of God. It changes a man.
82 Charles G. Finney, a lawyer, a great Philadelphian lawyer, but when he come into the Presence of God he dropped his law study and become a mightiest preacher of this nation's ever had yet. [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.]
... was a preacher, because one day he come in the presence of God. He thought once he'd studied the ministry... You know his book? I got his autobiography. He went out to pray. He thought he was a preacher. He had a desire that he wanted to preach, and he had him a few sermons he'd try to preach. He went out one day out of his office to pray, went out in the woods. He got down behind an old blown down tree where he'd go every afternoon: very religious, but he didn't believe in that...
There was two women in the church kept saying, "Mr. Finney, we're praying that you'll receive the Holy Ghost."
He said, "I got the Holy Ghost." Said, "I'm a preacher."
Said, "Mr. Finney, you're a great man, and you got a great hold of the Word, but you need the Holy Ghost. We're praying for you." Sweet little women...
So he went on, on. So every day he'd go out behind his office, his boss and all of them there he worked, and he'd go out of his law office and go out there to pray. And one day he was out there praying and he heard a brush break. He thought his boss was coming up, hunting him. He jumped up real quick. He was saying, "Lord God, I believe You." Stopped, brushed before he got... "Uhm! Uhm!" raised up and said, looked around, see where it was broke the brush. And it was then he come into the Presence of God. He realized that brush had broke for a purpose. He stood there; the tears running down his cheeks. He said, "Maybe them women's right. I'm ashamed for somebody to see me talking to my God, but I'd think it was an honor for somebody to see me talking to my boss. How much greater is my Lord than my boss." Said, "Lord, forgive me and fill me with the Holy Ghost," started screaming and shouting. He was in the Presence of God. He run downtown real quick to his office. He got to screaming so hard he had to go behind the door, said, "Lord, I'll bring disgrace upon You. Hide me back here till I get over this spell." Why? He'd come in the Presence of God. He was a changed man. The sermons that he used to preach, he preached them same sermons and souls came to the altar. See, he had been in the Presence of God.
85 Moody, a little old shoe cobbler, hardly knowed his ABC's. That's right. His grammar was poor. Somebody told him one day, "Your grammar is awful poor, Mr. Moody."
He said, "But I'm winning souls with it."
So one day the newspapers, the editor went to writing the newspaper. He went over to see how could this man hold crowds of people under any conditions, little old guy, baldheaded, and everything, and had whiskers hanging way down, kind of pot-bellied; he was a horrible looking man to look at. So this newspaper really give him a write-up, said, "I don't see what in the world that anyone would see in Dwight Moody." Said, "He's ugly; his voice is squeaky; he's got whiskers plumb down to his waistline; he's as baldheaded as a pumpkin." And said, "How in the world would anybody ever go to see anything in Moody?"
So Moody's manager happened to see it, said, "Look, Mr. Moody, I'll read this to you." Moody couldn't read it himself. So he said, "I'll read you the editorial." And he wrote it.
Moody just shrugged his shoulder, said, "Certainly not, they come to see Christ." That was all. Why? He had been in the Presence of God. From making soles on shoes, for people to wear out; he shod the people with the Gospel of preparation. Why? He was in the Presence of God. Right.
89 A little woman one time come in the Presence of God, as guilty as she could be. In a moment when she realized that she was in the Presence of God, every sin was forgiven and she was as pure and white as a lily. Oh, my. How many more I could call off here of people, time wouldn't permit.
But I want to talk a little bit about myself. What could been any lower than me? Where was I? Come out of a family of drunkards, come out of a family of murderers, come out of a family of bootleggers. And you know that; every one of you know it, know what kind of a name we had here. People didn't speak to us on the street. I'd go downtown, start to talk to somebody; nobody'd talk to me unless somebody wasn't around; they'd talk to me. Somebody else come up, they'd leave me. And I'd stand there and cry, "No, this ain't so; it can't be so. This is wrong."
91 But one day I come into the Presence of God. He changed me and made me another kind of son. His grace brought me into His Presence. I've never wanted to leave it. I've been in here now thirty some odd years; I don't want to leave it. I've got the assurance that I'll always be there. Even death itself will never separate me from His Presence. No, I'll be with Him forever. When I seen His Presence the first time, I cried like Isaiah, "Woe is me." Then He touched me with His grace. I was a changed person. The little renegade that used to get out here and carry on and everything was changed, and since then I've been His child. Since then, I've desired to give my whole life for His service, only wish I had ten thousand more lives to give for Him. This one's getting pretty well wore out now; fifty-three years has passed. About thirty-three of those has been, or thirty-two of those has been in the Gospel. I wish I had another thousand that I could spend. Why? When I once into His Presence and realized that there was Somebody Who loved the unlovable, there's Somebody loved me when no one else did, there was Somebody Who cared for me when no one else cared; I put my arms around His cross; I embraced it to me, and me and Him become one then. And from then on I've loved Him. He stained my bosom and my heart with His Blood by touching me and forgiving my sins, and I'm happy tonight to be one of His. I never desire to leave this heavenly place, though the tempter to persuade me oft has tried; but I'm safe in God's pavilion, and happy in His love and grace, and I'm living on the hallelujah side. My, it makes my heart rejoice.
92 I'm recommending Him to every weary person. I'm recommending Him to you that have no hope. You that's never been in His Presence, the only thing you have to do is confess your sins and realize that you're wrong, and God has that Angel ordained tonight, called the Holy Ghost, that'll take all your sins away. Then you'll cry, "Lord, here am I, send me." Then you'll raise your hands and sing,
I will praise Him! I will praise Him!
Praise the Lamb for sinners slain.
Give Him glory, all ye people,
For His Blood has washed away each stain.
I love Him. Don't you? Living in His Presence.
93 I've come to the pulpit here this morning, feeling so bad and so sick from... I--I was down in Kentucky last week with some personal friends of mine setting here. If I stayed down there very long, they'd kill me, they sure would, with kindness, some of the best cooks I ever knowed in my life. And when I get to my capacity is done overloaded, "Brother Branham, won't you have some of this?" And it's just so good, I just try to poke it down. I got so full I just couldn't even move. I--I couldn't sleep; I'd get up and walk around awhile. And I wasn't feeling very good when I got in here this morning. But once when I come into His Presence, that settled it. That settled it, it all vanished away then. That's right. Oh, to live in His Presence...

94 Now, if you're in here tonight... And I know His Presence is here. Standing in there awhile ago to a little Church of God girl, the Holy Spirit moved in upon me when I was praying for that little child. The parents had come down from the Anderson Church of God campground. And the overseer over there, knowing the child, the doctors said, "Could... It's got to die right away, with leukemia." The little, sweet little girl in her last stages now. She come back there and held her little hand out to me, it all swelled up, with needles and things been in it, and blue. I looked upon her. I saw a vision. The parents had just been reading a book out there. They knowed nothing about it. The general overseer at the camp up there told them, said bring the child down here. They wanted to come back when we had a healing service. And I said, "Bring the child now," felt led.
95 When I was standing right in there, the Holy Spirit went right back and brought out the history of the child. Told all about how it happened, what they'd done. Told the little girl's ambition, was to be a piano player. And that mother just almost screamed out. And that daddy said, "That's the God's truth." Setting right there in the car now listening to it, couldn't get in, setting out there listening to it now.
There come a big veil of a shadow hanging over the child. And I said, "Satan, you are defeated."
"You're no respect of person, God. And by the power of Your resurrection, and as Your servant, I drive this devil from the child." A big bright Light flashed over the top of her; it was over. Amen. What? Sure, He's worthy of all praise.
97 He knows all things. He knows your heart. And you know what you're thinking; He does too. If there's a little sin hanging on you tonight, and you wouldn't want to go in the Presence of God with that on you, would you once more raise up your hand and say, "Brother Branham, pray for me; I want to be in His Presence at that day, guiltless." God bless you. Many hands, God sees it. In His Presence. Now, I'll tell you what you do. Now, just listen closely. Do like David did; put the Lord before you right now. Put the Lord between you and that sin, whatever that little besetting sin is. It might be lying, might be stealing; it might be evil thinking; it might be temper, might be drinking, might be smoking, might be gambling. I don't know what. It might be lust; it might be anything. I don't know what it is. Whatever it is, put the Lord before you. And then your heart will rejoice, and your flesh shall rest in hope, for you know that Christ promised He'd raise up again in the last days. When He comes forth, we'll come in His likeness. Won't you do it now while we pray.
98 Our heavenly Father, a little chopped up message by a tired weary servant, but just thinking on the subject of dwelling in the Presence of God. And we see tonight the effect that it's taken upon holy men to come into Your Presence, what effect it had upon them. Sages, great powerful prophets ordained by God and sent to preach the Word, and yet meet Him face to face and fall to the ground like a dead man. What are we going to do at that day, Lord? We thought it over. We've been thinking it. Some forty or fifty hands has been thinking it, Lord, for they just raised them hands, or hearts beneath the hand has been thinking about meeting Him since we been speaking. What would they do if they had to meet Him?
99 My hands, Lord, is up. What will I do? Now, Father, I've got many things that I do wrong. I've just confessed my sin this morning before the church, as I confessed it to You on top of the mountain the other morning when it was blowing and snowing, and up there on top of the mountain to how I cried out and asked You to forgive me for my stupidity. And how I dreaded to come before my brethren, who some of them regard me as Your prophet-servant. And, Lord, how I hated to come to--'fore them and tell them of a stupid act that I would do a thing like that, but, God, it's good for my soul that I confess my sins and not hide them. So to be honest with You, and right before the people, I have confessed it, Lord. I'm wrong; I'm altogether wrong. I pray forgiveness.
100 And then, Father, I've been dilatory about You, serving You, many times maybe I could've went longer when I didn't do it. Father, I confess my sins. I want the Angel of God to cleanse me from that by the Blood of Jesus. Other hands went up tonight; some of them maybe has never asked forgiveness before; but I'm sure of this one thing, if we'll confess our sins, God will blot them out, put them in the sea of forgetfulness and never remember them no--no more. And, Father, as I confess mine, about misbehaving before them people, I didn't carry on myself like a servant of Christ. I didn't. I was afraid that man might be angry with me and think I didn't want to hurt his feelings, but I didn't think of what I was doing to You, Lord. And now, I--I pray that You forgive me. And now, Father, I know that if I ask forgiveness I have forgiveness, and You've put them in the sea of forgetfulness, and You'll never remember that no more. God, I'm thankful for that.
101 And I pray that You'll let every person here, that has sin or besetting sin of anything before them, may they remove it and put the Lord before them like David did. For now we cry out, "Woe is me, for I have seen the Glory of God. I'm a man of unclean lips, or a woman or girl of unclean lips, boy, or something." Whatever we might be, we're unclean, and we ask for the Blood of Jesus Christ, the appropriated Sacrifice to cleanse us from all sin, that we might ever dwell in His Presence. Let us go from here tonight with our hearts rejoicing, and our flesh resting in hope, knowing this, that when Jesus does come, we'll be raised with Him in His likeness, and shall meet Him in the air, in the rapture, when the countdown is finally over. We see the seventh church age is already counted out, and we're ready now to take off. We pray, God, that, You, before You close the door, if there be one here tonight has never come in, may they hurry in real quick, for we feel that the door of mercy between mercy and judgment is being closed. Those who will accept mercy will step in. Those who will not come in will have to suffer judgment. God closes the door. May there not be a door closed tonight to every one of these confessing sinners. May we all have pardon and mercy. In Jesus Christ's Name.
102 And now, Father, for the sick and the afflicted, for those who are needy, I pray that Your grace will supply all that they have need of. May they step into Christ, into His Presence. Place Christ, Christ, the promise... "He was wounded for my transgressions'; that's my sins. 'With His stripes I am healed," then I place the Lord before my sickness. 'He's on my right hand, and I shall not be moved,' then I walk boldly on, confessing that I am healed. By His stripes I am healed." Grant it, Lord, to every one of them. And we know that if we confess with our hearts and--or with our lips, and believe in our hearts, then we have our desire.
You said, "When you say anything, believe it comes to pass, you can have what you've said." We believe that, Father, and believe that You'll cleanse us from all of our sins, and heal all of our sickness, and give us grace, Lord, to serve You.
104 Be with these people. Many of them are going to travel the dark roads tonight. Many of them will travel many miles. Don't let nothing happen to them, Lord. They come across the country to set here to listen to the countdown to see how close we was to the end time. Now, I've asked them to go away, placing God before them, always before them, before anything else: before their trip, before their move, before their--before they get up, after they go to bed, always before they sleep, wherever it is, put God first. "For He is on my right hand; I shall not be moved." Then may their hearts rejoice to know that they have what they've asked for, because God promised it, and their flesh shall rest in hope. Grant it, Lord, for we ask it in Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.

105 Now, do you believe you have placed the Lord between you and your sin, between you and your sickness, between you and your fault, between you and your ways? "The Lord is always before me, and I am in His Presence. The next time I start to light a cigarette, the Lord is before me. The next time I start to lust, the Lord is before me. The next time I start to tell anything wrong, the Lord is before me. The next time I start to say a bad thing, the Lord is before me, and I shall not be moved. Amen. I'll live in His Presence each day, with my dealing, each day with my talk. I'll walk as if the Lord is before me, because tonight I've put Him before me. I shall not be moved." You love Him?
106 Now, let us stand up now. Oh, I just feel real good. I just feel like I don't want to go home. And you know it's only about twenty-five minutes till nine; I'm about two hours early. Isn't it wonderful? Oh, my. But now, as we leave, let's remember, we must take the Name of Jesus with us, as a shield from every snare. And when temptations 'round us gather to try to stick--keep us to remember that, just breathe that holy Name in prayer.

107 How many enjoys our pastor, Brother Neville? Aren't you thankful to the Lord for a good, honest, everyday man, believes the Gospel, and he's doing such a wonderful job by obeying the commandments of God, and preaching the Word and keeping this great spiritual atmosphere in the church all the time. Remember, I've come down the east coast, went across the south, and up the west coast, and through Canada, and I haven't met one church that's as spiritual as this church right here. They've gone to seed, yeah, either fanaticism, or either went off on tantrums, or either so cold they just can't be moved. That's all. Now, do you love one another?
